Adrian would be surprised, maybe even mildly concerned, as to what business a minor has at this sort of event. He couldn't stomach the idea of a kid being allowed to participate in a match-maker event, and yet somehow... Somehow it would seem more likely than them having any actual business being here. Were kids even allowed to work in Hoenn? Like other than flipping burgers and cleaning tables, or something else just as rudimentary.

"...So, what's a kid like you doing at a speed dating event? Are you like, one of those child prodigies that pop up in the news?" His skepticism is prevalent in his tone.

Normally it wouldn't be Adrian's business, but well, they got matched together and now they'd just have to put up with the other person for a few minutes. Who knows...

Maybe there was something yet to be gained from it.

When Asher sat down, looking at the cool tattoo and ear piercings, he half didn't expect the off hand compliment after the question. Valid as it was, the red head did not look like one of these child prodigies. His Larvesta had woken up, yawned and was now on the table getting belly rubs from the fifteen year old. "Do I look like one of those child prodigies that pop up in the news?" His tone was more amused than anything. And honestly, he didn't think he looked like one. Sure, these were his best looking clothes, but they still looked worn and had seen some better days. The only thing he can think of is if his twin somehow decided to come here for some bizarre reason. "So, obviously that's a no. And clearly you're too old for me, and that's okay. I'm not necessarily looking for a partner, at least not in that sense. A potential job on the other hand, assuming you have things that I can do, is something I'd be interested in. There's only so much two seasonal part-time jobs can do, and money is tight. Sooo I guess what do you do for a living and are you hiring?" Silky cooed contently at the attention her trainer was giving her.

"I don't have any business like that, sorry." Adrian was musically inclined, a stage performer and contest announcer. And on top of that, his apartment was filled with drugs and his pursuits were largely hedonist by nature; so absolutely no room for this kid in his life.

At least not for any business ventures.

"I'm more of a solo artist than anything."

He didn't mean to be curt, but it was best to kill the idea in its crib; his emphasis on the solo is sharp. Adrian takes a moment to consider their needs while Klefki dozes off clinging to his wrist, jostling when he shifts intermittently.

"You're pretty proactive about work for someone your age," he remarks insightfully. Maybe Adrian was just a privileged, even lazy child, but he'd never known someone to be looking for work so vehemently unless they were in dire straits. In that case, he'd have the highest sympathy for them, although he can't be too certain.

"Have you considered mowing lawns?"

Back in Sinnoh they'd always offered to shovel snow for neighbors and gotten treats in return, but there was hardly any snow in Hoenn naturally, but that meant the grass grew year round. All he needed was a lawnmower.

Well, that's a pity. Though he didn't know what kind of artist the other man was. "Oh? What kind?" It was a mild curiosity. Unfortunately, the guy may have someone to carry everything they need or move and hook up things or move their art supplies wherever or whatever the case may be. Adrian did remark on his proactive nature on finding work. He needed to get by. Stealing was great and all, but sometimes you don't get any major hauls or anything of the like. It was too sporadic. Still, evidently Adrian wasn't completely without a heart. "Don't have one nor have any way to maintain one let alone store it. And there's no one that really keeps theirs and don't do it themselves. Unless I'm hitting the wrong part of town...that's always a possibility." Asher didn't want pity, so he kept his homelessness to himself. He was going to climb out of his hole on his own.

"I write rock and indie music. Nothing glamorous that you'd have heard of me." Though that wasn't always the case, it felt more natural to downplay one's alleged stardom; ran less of a risk of being shot down. But for all his blathering, it'd been quite some time since he took up the pen. It was an itch he needed to scratch.

"You're probably right. Easier to let a pokemon do the work," he admitted after a rather shortsighted suggestion. It wasn't uncommon at all for Hoennians to leave their gardens in the care of a trusted pokemon for months at a time; this was no different. "It was just a thought."

What other options were available to them?

"Have you been sending your pokemon out on PokeJobs when you can spare 'em? That's a decent way to earn some cash..." Granted it would be poor etiquette not to amply reward the pokemon actually completing the specifies tasks, but the residual income could add up alongside everything else they were likely already doing.

Even if he was famous, Asher probably wouldn't have known it. He was far too busy just trying to get by, after all. Though the thought of letting his Pokemon do it...was kind of hilarious. "All I have are fire types. So unless the person wants to turn their yard to ash and risk burning down their house, I'm the guy to go to." He chuckled amusingly. Wouldn't that be funny? Still, the thought is appreciated. The musician suggested PokeJobs. Asher's shoulders slumped and looked down. Sadly, he often needed his Pokemon to help him steal. But he couldn't say that. And he had tried that before...to disastrous results. "I've tried that...Bones ended up beating up the client's Eevee and Pikachu, and Fletcher ended up setting the job site on fire by accident...clearly they're not cut out for those Pokejobs...ah, they're my Alolan Marowak and Fletchinder respectively." Did he mention he had fire types? And they tended to burn things? He wasn't going to go anywhere...and he wanted to do something with his life...but he had no support or anything. Did this Adrian guy even know how lucky he actually was?

Guess he really can't be helped. Not by him.

Adrian contemplates things for a moment, stroking his chin ponderously while mulling over the details. There was a lot for them to get around; he couldn't imagine having to ask himself all these questions while he was growing up. He'd been more preoccupied with schooling and training than anything else. "So you're a fire-type specialist?"

That would likely hold him back, too.

"Well, if you manage to get it all figured out, I guess you would be like one of those child prodigies." While they continue their exchange the bell inevitably rings, and Adrian recognizes he has little to offer them, and departs.

"Take care out there. I hope ya make it work."

Asher nodded. And seemed like Adrian didn't have anything else in mind. "Well, if you happen to know someone that could use someone for odd jobs, I do work part time at Chansey's Bakery and Breakfast, and I'm sometimes at Auntie Maydall's Hotel, helping out their cleaning staff on occasion. I still appreciate the thought and suggestions. Good luck with your music career, and thanks again for attempting to help me." Another dud, but at least more productive than the last one, since that was Eris, someone younger than him. Hopefully that will come back to give him another job.
