He sees a streak, like a pikachu's tail, or the zig-zag of a Hoennian rodent. But it remains incomplete. He shifts his perspective, orienting himself differently beneath the starsweald...[break][break]

It's as if six dotted eyes peer down at him. From within the scatters of light, he sees a tian's likeness hidden within. Like a mural of creation's aspects. There must be others, if he looks hard enough... They are not forthcoming.[break][break]

But it was an enjoyable, if futile exercise.[break]

He doesn't agree with them easily. If he was sharper than he looked, he might've never ended up in this predicament: Trying to scare off trespassers in Rocket occupied territories. Surely, the compliment was better spent on almost anyone else.[break][break]

"You could still try." He seems indifferent.[break][break]

Adrian can't be bothered with defectors. Everything and everyone was equally bothersome, until they made an even bigger ass out of themselves. Team Rocket would sort them out, and he'd do what was expected when eyes were on him—and only what was required when they weren't. He could let this man go, assuming he retreated back into the League's territories.[break][break]

That was unexpected...[break][break]

He almost regrets letting them go.[break][break]

Someone like that would almost certainly make themselves a nuissance again; he might've saved himself a bigger mess later. But his better nature had gotten in the way of that. Next time.[break]

Surrounded by their stony gaol, Gyarados can do little but succumb to its wounds. Furor would surely fall.[break][break]

In the throng of the inferno, the streak of red light siphoning his fainted Gyarados is not easily discerned, and instead Paxton and Mawile would be met with the roiling fire running wild around them. Howitzer's pokeball remained at his side. And yet he faltered that moment.[break][break]

As his fingers touched it, he recoiled.[break][break]

Gyarados reels from the magicked pummeling, the odd scale peeling away where gnarled tooth-and-claw dig against its bare flesh. Where the patterned scales are scraped away from the skin, streaks of crimson ebb and flow, clotting slowly. The beast had been blooded.[break][break]

It wasn't his first inclination—he would've liked for them to have turned away, no contest—but of course the League tries to break the line in any way they can. Petalburg was 'rightfully' theirs was surely the League's rhetoric...[break][break]

That was the thing about taking something. But nobody wanted to honor Team Rocket's conquest. Yet if they trickled trainers like this into the dragon's den, there would be nothing but little bones left of them, for all their troubles. Better to save their strength for the next big push.[break][break]

Team Rocket would naturally do the same.[break][break]

Adrian can tell the paralysis took hold, though whether Wyatt can break through it was another matter. For now, he seemed subdued, and Adrian was not pressed to take advantage of this lull in hostilities. It speaks to his reserved aggression.[break][break]

"...Yeah..." He's out of it enough to know it—it's a feeling he's not been quite so accustomed to as of late, but it's familiar in its own way. He grasps at moments of sobriety through the fog of adulteration. He literally doesn't see the writing on the wall, Raziel can tell.[break][break]

"Hmmm..." Raziel's guess is as good as his, not that Adrian made that leap. But it made sense such things were gathered up alongside the assortment of files. While they're rummaging through it, they hear another scream—and a shuddering noise of something shattering—though it's distanced from them.[break][break]

Returning through the dining and entrance halls, they are late to see the damages as a statue lies shattered. Thankfully, nothing seems to have been underneath it... Though the apparitions seem to have taken offense. The crowd gathered acts... unlike themselves.[break][break]

Adrian's scowl quickly becomes a frown. Whatever pretense they feigned before, they had seemingly given up. He might've hoped the other was genuine and would turn away without any trouble... But they were asking for it now.[break][break]
