Tutoring someone was... surprisingly interesting, in that you never expected the little surprises—innate proficiencies. Not that Raziel hadn't already proven those things, in another slice of life... the time of Razz Kingsman.[break][break]

But he remained reluctant to see Raziel turned into something he wasn't. He shouldn't be here. Or should he? Adrian was... conflicted in that department, though he could do little to interfere. But he could monitor their progress from here.[break][break]

Adrian feels it biting at his leg. Sharp and hot, it pierces through, but it leaves the bone intact. But his body crumples under the pain, and the torn muscle strains to hold the weight. He braces against a nearby tree, bleeding onto the forest. "Hrggh!" Shit, shit. It'd get worse.[break][break]

This is what he deserved, going it alone.[break][break]

He hobbles around the tree with a limp, leaving a trail to track. While he's gritting his teeth, slumped against the three, he can feel something wet and hot starting to gush. He is forced to rip at the hem of his shirt, tearing off a sizable strip of cloth... Improvising a tourniquet with a stick.[break][break]

It had to be tight. But if he took too long...[break][break]

Adrian once again reflects on Team Rocket's aspirations—whether it is worth risking himself in this way time and again.[break][break]

In the interim, Gyarados turned its attention back towards Adrian. To the scent of blood. His blood? It manages to catch sight of him, safe for the moment—but in desperate need of a reprieve.[break][break]

Slit eyes narrow, and nostrils flare.[break][break]

Lurching through the wood, it topples the trees in its path with a seeming ease, brushing past them hastily. As its headlong rush brings it to the tree Paxton resides in, its gaping maw punches through the foliage and branches, guided by its keen senses—BITING AT ITS PREY![break][break]

Wresting the tree and laying it low, Furor fells the old timber, and anything perched thereupon its tangle of branches... That which is caught in the vise of its teeth finds itself trapped, gnashed.[break][break]

Finishing up his bandaging with the time Furor could afford him, Adrian would test putting his weight on the leg, but found it becoming increasingly numb past the knee. Enough.[break]

At least the guy had good spirits about him—even if it chaffed Adrian. He would get over that eventually. Maybe even learn to appreciate it—if only conditionally.[break][break]

Nobody wanted to conquer a ruined kingdom, but in a full-fledged conflict, the victory would inherit a wasteland. Team Rocket and the League were embroiled in a conflict that sought to circumvent that—the truce at Sootopolis was evidence of that—and so Adrian was skeptical of the dystopian euphorics Tangaroa wished to engross himself in.[break][break]

Still, Copperajah put on a brave face—retaliatory, even. It wasn't for a moment that Adrian realized it was about to attack them that he raised his hands emphatically: "No, no, it's okay—"[break][break]

Clearly Copperajah hadn't thought so, but it simmers down at its trainer's behest, nursing the tarnished metal—a scorched black smudge against its otherwise pristine body.[break][break]

"We'll get you checked out later, Raj," he suggested, before withdrawing Copperajah as it regressed into its original form. Adrian decided to give Raziel a thumbs up as a sort of congratulations.[break][break]

"So that was terrastalizing. Hmm..."[break][break]

The road ahead of them was grassy and overrun with overgrowth. Route 102 was the buffer between them and Oldale Town. Trainers had been advised to avoid the area—and rightfully so—Team Rocket quickly set their sights on adjacent settlements, hoping to quickly swallow up the land they could before the League wisened up.[break][break]

Inevitably, they would meet resistance.[break][break]

Adrian was thinking of how to give themselves an early advantage. Something he saw as useful, though not necessarily eco-friendly, was tearing up the earth and laying the foundation for news roads. Allow transport of goods and troops using the available technology, rather than moving on foot, which was quite the exhaustive method...[break][break]

This solution had its holes, sure.[break][break]

But he was sure he could sell it.[break][break]

Due to a previous skirmish, Adrian doesn't go it alone—and instead tails a Beast. It's a bit surprising how quickly they relented, allowing him to accompany them. Almost too convenient...[break][break]

"I'm surprised they haven't retaliated wholesale yet," Adrian admits sheepishly.[break][break]
