A new chapter’s opening on Rae’s life, and what better way to get it started than a new living situation? After Melody came to ask her to work at her Gym (for reasons she’s not exactly sure about) she packed up her meager possessions from the room she’s been staying in in Slateport and moving it into her room in the Sootopolis Gym. [break]

She whistles, amazed at how nice her new place is. Roomy, spacious, a bathroom for her, all the gym’s facilities at her fingertips. Though… It’s a little cluttered. She’ll have to work on that! She really wants to be able to make this place her own, somewhere she can chill out and stuff.[break]

She plops her boxes down with a thud, not hearing anything breaking inside. Score! Seems like she won’t have to replace any of her stuff from the move. Not that she has much, anyways. [break]

She hears something behind her and turns around. What’s with this sassy… lost child? [break]

Ever since she'd challenged Melody at the tournament last summer, Eris has found her life quietly intertwining with that of the gym leader and sure enough, they've become fast friends that share cookies every now and then. She'd even been offered the chance to help out at the gym, something she'd been hoping to do ever since Rocket claimed Sootopolis for its own - Whether it's a genuine attempt to learn more about the League and be friends with Melody or an excuse to assuage her guilt, she'll never know.

Rae can do nothing but stare. Eventually she turns around and continues unpacking her boxes, throwing unfolded clothes from a box into dresser drawers haphazardly, hoping the kid would go away. But Rae turns back around and she’s still there, hands on her hips and sassy.[break][break]

It’s then she notices the Luxray standing behind the kid staring daggers into her. Eris yells at her to put her hands up and deciding she doesn’t want to get mauled by a random hallway child or her Pokemon, Rae puts her hands up. “Hey, whoa! Alright! My name’s Rae! I’m just here to move in, alright! Not here to hurt anyone or be evil or anything! Melody invited me here to join her gym or something?”[break][break]

She’s standing still, but Patches the Eevee decides to wander out. Curious (and stupid) as ever, Patches walks right up to Eris, plopping her butt down and looking up at the girl.[break][break]

“And that’s Patches, one of my partners. She’s helping me move in!” [break][break]

Patches is, in fact, doing the opposite of helping Rae move in. Before this, she was in the bathroom unrolling rolls of toilet paper and scattering Rae’s toiletries in places she knows Rae won’t be able to find them.[break]

Is it that hard to believe that she would do such a thing? Perhaps a little, considering the situation regarding the people of the city and her gym... and also something about Melody Miro being too trusting of others. But that's what she's here for, isn't it? To make sure that Melody doesn't go around getting kidnapped all over again.

"I have a Morpeko named Patches too! And she does exactly what your Patches does!" Eris hums, gesturing at the mess that the Eevee seems to be making in the background. "Helps her to settle in quicker or something... As long as she remembers to return the stuff to me when I need it."
