Rae crouches next to Matilda, closely watching her work with different berries and vials. She settles in next to her Absol, resting the Pokemon’s head on her lap and gently strokes his neck to try and calm herself down. The Pokemon winces for a second when traction is pulled to set the splint, but stays mostly bored with this. [break][break]

“I’m Rae,” she says quickly and quietly, her eyes still focused on Matilda’s recipe. Has she already introduced herself? She’s not sure. She’s not sure she cares, either. As long as Blink can get back on his feet, she doesn’t care how stupid she might look. She watches as the vials get their stoppers put on top and takes them, holding them extremely gently in her hands. [break][break]

Blink, enjoying the pats he’s getting from both Matilda and Rae, lets out a small purr before yawning. Little does he know his next few days are gonna be full of boredom and medicine, but for now he’s gonna live happily in the moment.[break][break]

She gently tips the Absol’s head back and pours one of the vials into the Pokemon’s mouth. The Absol tries to spit up the medicine but Rae doesn’t let her, gently stroking the underside of his throat to force a swallow reflex. “I know, buddy. I’m sorry, but it's the doctor's orders.” [break][break]

Happy that her Pokemon will be okay, Rae can focus on Matilda again. “‘M glad you’re here, Mattie. And Garnet, too. Dunno what I’d do if you hadn’t come by. Can I do anything for you in return? Pay you or help you move furniture or something? I feel bad taking up your time like this.”[break]

She laughs. “Well! Seems like we’ve caught ourselves in quite the predicament then, huh?”
She surveys the field, seeing the two Pangoro sitting far apart. Seems like they really don’t have any amount of interest in each other… But Megan’s idea just might work![break][break]

“But hey!” Rae says, patting Megan’s back with her gross juice-and-saliva covered hands. She has a smile on her face, ready for a challenge and happy that she has someone to help her figure all this out. She drops a sticky wad of berries into Megan’s hands, keeping about half for herself. “We’re both newbies to this, right? So we’re gonna figure it out! Thief and I will head over to the Pangoro on the left and you can head to the one on the right and we’re gonna bring em together!”[break][break]

And with that, she and her Skwovet tear off across the field towards one of the Pangoro. The panda Pokemon watches the pair with a wary gaze, and Rae slows down as she approaches, tossing some berries to the Pangoro’s feet. It looks down at it before putting it in its mouth and chewing, the berry juice dribbling down its chin. It watches Rae more intently now, keeping its eyes fixed on the berries in her arms though remaining seated right where it started. Rae smiles. It’s working!

Rae’s fresh out of luck. She has nothing to counter this. Her item choice was wrong, she had no abilities or items that could counter, and she didn't have an Ice-type like either of her teammates.[break][break]

But it seems fate has other plans. The PC pings and she goes to chack. Apparently, thanks to some mystery benefactor, an ICE-TYPE Lapras had made its way into her hands, which she promptly sends out to counter the Pokemon's move.[break][break]

The Sheer Cold drops the temperature of the room and Rae curls up smaller, shivering at the sudden cold. Sure, it reminds her of home, but only the cold winters in which she could only wait for the start of the spring sports. "Speak for yourself," she says to CJ. "I'm ready to move on and warm up."

Rae walks up to the table, considering her options. Her teammates each took a different item, so she guesses she should too? Diversify what they have so they can each complete different tasks... It makes some semblance of sense to her![break]

She picks up the RING TARGET. "Do you think they let us keep these? I certainly wouldn't turn down some free stuff, y'know?" [break]

She considers Elisabeth's question. "Who knows? I mean, the building didn't look that big from the outside, so I guess not that big?"

Rae’s completely lost at this point. Her two teammates make their selections quick to counter the drowsiness, but she has no clue what to do. But she can at least copy them to combat it, so she pulls out a ball and lets out Thief the Skwovet, commanding him to make some noise.[break][break]

Thief, seeing Rae and hearing her command before the Loudred started his own Uproar, climbs on top of Rae’s head to let loose his own UPROAR, practically deafening Rae with how loud he’s being this close to her ear. Unlike Stratos, Thief’s Uproar is high pitched and screeching, creating a terrible combination with CJ’s Pokemon.[break][break]

“WHAT??” She shouts at CJ, unable to make out what they’re saying.

Rae’s teammates had gone for the relatively calm Earthquake, but she’s about to turn it up a notch. This is bound to work, right? No reason it shouldn’t if Earthquake can hit… Finding the PC in the corner of the room, Rae pulls out an often-forgotten about Pokemon she has, tossing its ball out and letting the Barboach free.[break][break]



“Alright, Whiskers!” She shouts, pointing forwards. “Open up a FISSURE!”[break][break]



Whiskers follows her direction, the room seeming to split in two as the ground opens up around the dug-in Diggersby, causing it to fall and instantly get knocked out. Rae pumps her fist. Now this is her kind of thing![break][break]



But they have yet another riddle that they need to solve. Goddamn it, Rae hates these. Her head hurts just trying to understand the old-timey English its written in. Elizabeth looks at her and she can do nothing but shrug. “I dunno. Maybe it’ll be obvious when we get more clues?”[break]
