Rae smiles. Avoid Earthquake? That was easy business. A hand goes to the ball that’s always on her hip and she tosses it out, and in a burst of flame and feathers, Carrie the Talonflame emerges, spreading her wings and taking off.[break][break]



The Talonflame grabs Rae in its claws, lifting her off the floor with it and rushing over to the man in the Draconid outfit. The Earthquake died down while they were airborne and Carrie drops Rae right in front of him. She grins, facing him head on and getting right in his personal bubble before turning her back to him, ignoring him for the time being.[break][break]


“Sinnoh? I mean, sounds right I guess?” She’d heard bits and pieces from people before but didn’t really get the whole Sinnohan religion. “But it talks about four… I hope we won’t need to set up four people a certain way to get that done!”[break][break]

Rae’d heard about the Fleur Tea Atelier and initially she thought it’d be wayyyy too snooty and fancy for the likes of her. Just the name alone turned her off, but she’d decided to come anyway. She could always bail if it was just some rich asshole’s tea party, right? But she’s really hoping for some excitement![break][break]



“Heyo! Rae Rancon, athlete and one of Melody’s new Muses! Nice to meetcha!” She stretches upwards, putting her hands behind her head and smiling. “I didn’t know this was gonna be so much fun! I was a little worried this was gonna be somethin’ boring.”[break][break]



She looks at the balloon, thinking of the time she and Toshiaki Macallan spent at the Mossdeep Space Center. She knows it has a use and thinks about getting it just for the sentimental value, but it seems like there’s gonna be some kind of tactical advantage to picking one of them…[break][break]



Alright. She’ll pick the weird leaf thing… what was it called? MENTAL HERB? Sure, it seems useful…[break][break]



“Huh? White Lotus? Ohhh, I get it!” It seems kind of pretentious, exactly the thing she wanted to avoid, but that’s just because she doesn’t get it. But she’s gonna pretend like she does so she doesn’t look stupid. Someone please sit her down to watch Avatar. “Yeah, I like it! Let’s go with that!”[break]

Rae can do nothing but stare. Eventually she turns around and continues unpacking her boxes, throwing unfolded clothes from a box into dresser drawers haphazardly, hoping the kid would go away. But Rae turns back around and she’s still there, hands on her hips and sassy.[break][break]


It’s then she notices the Luxray standing behind the kid staring daggers into her. Eris yells at her to put her hands up and deciding she doesn’t want to get mauled by a random hallway child or her Pokemon, Rae puts her hands up. “Hey, whoa! Alright! My name’s Rae! I’m just here to move in, alright! Not here to hurt anyone or be evil or anything! Melody invited me here to join her gym or something?”[break][break]


She’s standing still, but Patches the Eevee decides to wander out. Curious (and stupid) as ever, Patches walks right up to Eris, plopping her butt down and looking up at the girl.[break][break]


“And that’s Patches, one of my partners. She’s helping me move in!” [break][break]


Patches is, in fact, doing the opposite of helping Rae move in. Before this, she was in the bathroom unrolling rolls of toilet paper and scattering Rae’s toiletries in places she knows Rae won’t be able to find them.[break]

Rae’s completely lost. Somehow she’d stumbled her way into a photography studio and was offered money to get out there and snap some pics for them, but she hadn’t taken a nature photo since… ever.[break]

And not only that, but Thief the Skwovet was living up to his name and had taken the camera they gave her and ran up a tree with it, taunting her and laughing from on the branch. Rae’s stuck on the ground with Patches the Eevee, looking up at Thief with her hands on her hips.[break]

How was she going to get out of this mess?[break]

She’s startled when someone speaks up from behind her. She’s been paying no attention to anything going on around her so she almost jumps up the tree next to her Skwovet.[break]

She whips around, seeing the person who’d spoken up.[break]

“Oh, heyyyy!” She has no clue who this person is. He seems familiar, but she just can’t put her finger on it… But it seems he’s here to help, so she’s not about to turn that down. “You’re my partner? Great! I seem to have, uh, lost my camera. Do you think you could help me get it back?”

tl;dr: rae's skwovet stole her camera and she's too stupid to remember hideo's face (mostly because her eyes were shut for most of the flight last time lmaooooo)

She stands on her tiptoes and ruffles his hair before putting him in a headlock, smiling the whole time. “Course I needed to. You wanted it, right?” A finger pokes into his cheek. Toshiaki wasn’t exactly subtle with his excitement for the balloon, and even Rae could pick it up. “Don’t think I didn’t catch you staring.”[break]


Satisfied with her teasing, she releases him from her grasp and puts her hands behind her head, relaxed and happy. Her Solrock bounces as they walk along. Rae’s happy to be able to relax and unwind with Toshiaki, something she’s not really able to do with many people.[break]



Moving to Hoenn had been such a whirlwind of quick decisions and meeting somebody who she could honestly call a friend so fast… It made the move a lot more bearable, especially because she hasn’t exactly fit in well with her teammates.[break]



“Course I wanna check it out! What were you lookin’ to go see? I saw you takin’ pictures of some rocks there earlier, what are those all about?”[break]



She watches him, excited to go along with whatever he wants to do even if her face might not show it through her resting bitch face. “I think I saw some rockets hangin’ from the ceiling on our way in, too! Just lead the way.”
