Cyg was two dates in and about one and three quarters of a bottle of prosecco down. She felt good and her veins were filled with peach fuzz. During her first date with she’d been rigid, tense. For this one, she flopped down in the chair like a dad on a couch, long legs outstretched, hair artfully messed.

She smiles at , a slow languid thing painted red, and flips up her two peace fingers.

“Sup?”

After her last date with where they agreed to be rivals in the gym challenge, she’s pumped up, ready to fight something, and overall full of energy. She’s got a big dopey smile on her face and her cheeks are tinged a little pink. She’s twitchy and fidgeting with her thumbs, lost trying to plan exactly how she’s gonna win their little bet. She breaks out of her thoughts at Cygne’s introduction. “Oh! Not much, haha. Just sitting across from a beautiful lady. How about you?”

Her date is pretty cute. Maybe not 100% a five alarm fire like Ana, but still damn cute. Bright blue eyes, face full of energy like she just got plugged into a live electrical socket.

Just sitting across from a beautiful lady. Cyg laughs, head tossed back, movements ball-jointed and liquid; then she slumps forward, elbows on the table, curling one piece of hair around a black-polished finger. “That’s a good one, I’ll have to save it for later.” She’s still all smiles. “My name’s Cygne, but everyone calls me Cyg. What’s your name an’ where ya from?”

Rae’s happy that she could get a laugh out of her date. She knows getting a joke off will make the rest of it go a lot smoother but she didn’t expect to spit out a line so suave. Or cheesy. Probably cheesy, but she likes to think she can flirt sometimes. [break]



“Heh, thanks! Guess it just came to me,” she laughs. Compared to her, Cyg oozes charm and appeal and she can’t help but staring at her. It takes longer than she would’ve liked for her to respond as she’s lost looking at her date. [break]



“‘S nice to meet ya, Cyg! I’m Rae- short for Raegan but I haven’t been called that since middle school- and I’m from Unova! Just moved out here to Hoenn last month.”

If had seen Cyg during her first date, she would have a completely different opinion of her. Or if she had seen her sober. She finds Rae kind of staring at her but she’s feeling good, feeling fine, so she just soaks in it, tilting her head and giving a beaming smile.

“Ooh, that’s a pretty name. From Unova! That’s crazy. Where in Unova? And why Hoenn?” she waves a dismissive hand. “I mean, I’ve lived here my whole life. My viewpoint is scoured. Skewed. Soured. Hah.”

Cyg’s smile makes Rae’s heart flutter a bit, but she doesn’t let it show (at least, not to a degree that the drunk Cyg would notice). She beams back at her.[break]



“Aw, thanks! Yours is really pretty too! And yeah, I’m from Nimbasa! The lights, the rush, the action… Hoenn feels much quieter. It’s nice. And it just seemed like something fresh, y’know? I needed a restart like this, and it’s certainly gotten me there so far. I know you grew up here so it’s boring, but this is actually a really nice place- I checked the weather at home earlier and it was wayyyy below freezing! No thank you, I’ll take this nicer weather any day of the week.”

She listens to talk about her hometown with a little bit of jealousy. What would it be like, to not be from this hellhole? Maybe she’d never have joined Team Rocket. Maybe things would be different.

“Yeah, the warm weather is nice,” Cyg had to agree with that, at the very least.

She was starting to get a bit sleepy, so when the bell dinged to signal their time together was at an end, it startled her.

“Wow, it really flies when you’re having fun, huh?” She asked, pulling out her phone. “Hey, give me your number. Maybe we can get coffee together or something.”

It was a drunken front. She couldn’t afford fancy coffee.

And then that damn bell interrupted her. She wants to talk with her longer, but the bell’s the bell and she can’t do anything about it. She happily types her number into her phone, excited she made a good enough impression to warrant another meeting sometime. [break]


“Coffee it is! Just let me know a time and a place, and I’m so there.” She winks. “On me. Can’t let a pretty lady like yourself pay, y’know? It was nice to meet you Cyg!”
