Rae might not be decked out in Space Center gear like Toshi is, but she’s still happy to be here. She’s in a pair of black jeans and a crop top worn under a letterman’s jacket, her abs showing despite the brisk winter air. She’s not cold though. She has a ray of sunshine with her after all.[break][break]

She steals a glance at Toshiaki. The boy’s more than excited. She can tell just from the look in his eyes and the big dopey smile on his face. He’s practically vibrating. She giggles a little at how much he looks like an excited puppy.[break][break]

She’s not entirely sure about all this. She was never really the sciencey type, but he’d invited her out and she had nothing better to do. “Oh, I dunno. What do you wanna see?” She elbows him in the side, ready to joke around with him. “I’m sure you know your nerd stuff a lot better than I do. Lead the way, Skywalker.”

“Yeah,” she says, grateful to have found someone. “I hate to rush you, but I need to be down in Slateport real quick. I’m super glad your Beheeyem- Elga, right? I’m glad it flagged me down!”[break]

Now that she has a ride, her mind moves on to other things. She looks up at the Dragonite and the carriage it’s standing next to. It looks quick. And trustworthy. It probably won’t drop her, right? There’s nothing to worry about. Nothing at all. She crosses her arms one way, then the other, then back to the first, nervous about the flight.[break]

She finally looks the kid up and down. Her mental filter seems to be turned off at the moment, as she begins speaking before it can stop what she’s about to say. “But… aren’t you a little young to be a cab driver?”

 She hunches over when Badcop returns to its ball, out of breah and slightly snickering at Atlas calling the little hellspawn an ass-munch. It wasn’t a bad description, but she certainly wasn’t expecting it. “Yeah, if I was a criminal on the receiving end of that thing, I’d probably just lay down and die. Would scare the shit out of me.”[break]

As Rae recovers, Burst’s laughter only grows louder. It was quite an entertaining show for the Gengar, from the attack on Atlas to the choice words the Morpeko used while it was forced back in it’s ball. Rae, hands on her knees, shoots a look at it to tell it to shut up. Burst, for what it’s worth, makes it about ten seconds before he starts giggling again.[break]

It doesn’t take her long to recover and soon she’s almost back at full energy, though the struggle had taken a physical toll on her. Her hair was loose from it’s ponytail and a few little scratches line her face and arms wherever Badcop could reach her. “Nah, you’re fine,” she says, waving him off. “Besides, it was kinda boring with just me. Wanna head for the summit together?”

Patches gives a quick flick of her tail as a response to Dom, but keeps her attention on Lynx. She ducks down into a playful pose before pouncing towards Lynx, not tackling the Riolu but landing near him, intending to poke some fun and goad him into playing with her.

Rae, while wanting to maintain her Eevee’s sense of wonder and playfulness, doesn’t want her to overstep her bounds. She whistles to her, trying to call her off but to little effect. “Sorry about her,” she says sheepishly. “She gets a little excited sometimes…”[break]


But when the Hitmons walk up, she loses focus on whatever Patches is doing. “Can’t say I have,” she says, shrugging off her winter coat and letting it fall to the ground. She smiles over at him, the glint of competition in her eye. She cracks her knuckles. She’s pumped up. “But it looks like there’s a first time for everything. Bet’cha I can take mine down before you can!”[break]

And with that she’s off towards the Hitmonlee, running at it before its springy leg sends her flying right back. She lands at his feet, groaning.[break]


“Alright. Guess I gotta have some strategy, huh…”

 “I… I’m not sure,” Rae says, voice shaking ever so slightly. She takes a second to compose herself. How’d she let this happen? They were set to play in a match later this week and now that’s just out the window.[break]

“Blink and I… We were just out for a run and he started limping and went down. He won’t get back up and I’m worried because he’s not like that usually!”[break]

The Absol stares up at Matilda, bored. He’s laying down, sure, but he’s obviously not in any visible pain. Rae has a hand resting on his back, fidgeting around but staying far away from the injured leg for fear of hurting him more.[break]

She looks over at Matilda, a pleading look in her eyes. “I just… don’t know what to do! I don’t know how to diagnose this stuff and certainly don’t know how to treat it…”

 She watches the shift happen with wide eyes. She’d seen Pokemon change form before, but this was something else. The way the sweet little thing turned into that…[break]

Rae appreciates Atlas, sure. He seemed to not be put off by her shameless bragging. She appreciates that. He seems like someone she can spend time with and she knows he must have great stories from being a detective that she'd love to hear.[break]

But why on Earth would he keep that ticking time bomb with him?[break]

When he stumbles near her, she grabs on to the Morpeko, shaking it to try and dislodge it from Atlas’s ear. She’s ready to help but not get up close with whatever demon possessed it. She’s worried about him being eaten, but not enough to turn it’s ire onto her. She eventually dislodges it, holding the squirming rodent at arm’s length.[break]

“What,” she says, panting from the effort of holding onto it. Burst the Gengar floats around it, cackling at the restrained Badcop as it struggles for freedom. “Is this? Why’s it mad? How do you stop it?”

 Caught out in the rain, Rae and BURST the GENGAR found some cover in a cave to avoid getting wet. Rae’s sitting at the mouth of the cave, looking out over the jungle as the rain falls. [break]

Burst sneaks up behind her and licks  her face, leaving her covered in a layer of SLIMY saliva. She makes a face before scooping it up, throwing it back at the Gengar. It passes right through as Burst snickers. [break]

Her phone buzzes with a notification. Pokemon were swarming, huh? She pops to her feet, a smile on her face. Now this seems like some fun. She and Burst run out, ready to take on the swarm.

WINTER WISHES MISSION: ROCKY STEPS
She stares at him blankly. Whether it’s because she didn’t get the joke or didn’t find it funny, the world may never know. She flashes him a smile and flexes at him, teasing. “Yeah, I’m pretty cool. Y’know, it’s just always come natural.”[break]

She glances down at his abs, laughing with him. “Hmm. I guess I did. You proved me wrong. Still though,” she says, grinning She pulls up her tank top a little to show her own abs, much less well defined than Atlas’s but still visible. “What’s the use of all that muscle if a little hill is gonna take you out?” [break]

She looks him up and down warily. He seems better, but she better keep an eye on him. She doesn't want to have to carry him down the mountain. [break]

She looks at his Morpeko. She’d never seen one before, so she was caught a little off guard by it. “Uh..,” she says tentatively. “I think your rat is doing something. Is it supposed to do that?”

“Oh, no,” she assures him with a dismissal wave of her hand. She reaches out and takes his hand, giving him a firm handshake. “Really, it’s no problem! I’m Rae, an athlete, and this cute little gal with me is Patches.”[break]

At the sound of her name, Patches the Eevee walks forward, going to investigate the Riolu clinging to Dominic’s leg. She sniffs at him before letting out a friendly chirp, batting at Lynx’s leg with her front paw in greeting.[break]

Rae watches the Pokemon with a softer smile before she looks back up to Dom, the competitive fire returning to her eyes. “In fact, the sound of you two training got Patches and I fired up! We were wondering if we could join in on your training? I’m sure you two must know some pretty awesome stuff from being Rangers!”

While Rae generally prefers walking or running places, sometimes situations demanded that she needed something a little bit faster. She’d forgotten about a match she was supposed to play in and needed to get across the region as quick as possible. She really would prefer keeping her feet on the ground but… There’s really no other option, as terrible as that is.[break]

She’d heard about the new Pokemon taxi service that had started and was hoping to be able to find one. Flying Pokemon ought to be pretty quick, right? It’s not like she’d be in the air for too long.[break]

She’s approached by a Beeheyem that points out a young kid standing next to a Dragonite. Was… it trying to indicate something to her? The kid didn’t look like he was working- or even like he was old enough to work. Still, she was desperate enough to try.[break]

“Scuse me,” she says, following the psychic type back to its Trainer. “Are… you by any chance giving rides? I heard about this taxi service and your Beeheyem seemed to point me over to you."
