Samnang disliked true games of chance. Luck was an unpredictable variable, and even when one correctly factored for it, there was no telling out it would affect an outcome. She was a numbers girl, through and through. Obviously she couldn’t find everyone who’d been ejected from the maze on their first try and poll them to discover their choices. She’d have to go with her gut-- or, alternatively, burn the whole thing down. Again, not really many options.

She took a deep breath and closed her eyes, running through the numbers in her head. Not enough data to provide a satisfactory answer. So she eenie-miney-moe’d it, and went with what came up.

THE FIRST CHECKPOINT

Eenie-meenie-minie-mo, where into the maze shall you go?

The Roselia guarding this first of many choices nods, bowing as she steps aside to let you enter your chosen path. The other closes abruptly in a curtain of moss and vines at the Pokemon's behest, unable to be retread.

Your choice at the first checkpoint is decided; your path is set.

THE PATH LESS TRAVELED BY

As you advance deeper into the maze, flowers of every hue blossom and unfurl around you, as if celebrating your passage deeper into the leafy foliage. Sunlight spills forth through the crevices of leaves and branches, at last revealing a Lilligant who stands before you.

She elegantly curtseys with a smile, as if she has been long awaiting your presence. In her leafy hands, she holds a boxed gift:

Behind her another choice awaits you: a winding, looping path to the left, and a narrow and snaking path to the right.

Samnang passed the Roselia without acknowledging the Pokemon. Her mind was racing with the next most logical choice-- what way should she go? Reviewing the factors and number alignments in her head was getting her nowhere except to headache town, egged on by the heavy, floral scent in the air. She did thank the Lilligant for her gift with a polite nod, before turning to face the next challenge-- the same challenge, ironically. The oft repeated question since the beginning of time:

Right or left?

THE SECOND CHECKPOINT

Sometimes one can be so focused on the forest they can't see it for the trees. Could that be the case now, as you focus so intently upon the possibilities ahead?

Smiling, the Lilligant that guards this second checkpoint bobs her head in silent understanding, stepping aside to let you enter your chosen path. The other closes abruptly in a curtain of moss and vines at the Pokemon's behest, unable to be retread.

OUT OF THE WOODS

You follow the long and winding path of the maze, eyes scanning for the next possible glimpse of the promised checkpoint ahead. The flowers, however, seem to furl up and diminish in your shadow; it occurs to you, after some time of endless wandering and meandering, that your path only goes one way.

Out.

The radiant smile of a Bellossom greets you, dancing over to you with a consolation gift in her hands. Next to her, the figure of her trainer, Elisabeth Fiorelli, gives a small, sympathetic smile. "You got further than most, and your reward should reflect that," she says, gesturing for you to open the proffered box.
