Barnaby finished tying his boots, grabbed a granola bar from his pack and munched on it (being sure to throw a few bites Pepin's way), and then set off down the well-trodden Safari Zone path.

He had a new plan today. It was full-proof, sure to get him through the park in no time. Instead of trying to combat the Pokémon in his way, Barnaby was just going to appeal to their greedy side.

In other words, he was just going to throw a bunch of Poké Treats their way until they were pacified enough to stay in a Safari Ball.

First up: STUFFUL. This one seemed a lot tamer than the few before it, which made it easy enough to subdue. A few tossed morsels and it was practically begging to get into the ball.

Trucking right along, the trail led them - predictably - right along the familiar stream that they'd passed by several times before. It was a relaxing place, a hideaway from the rigors of the hike. Barnaby considered for a moment and decided to veer toward it.

Just as before, a small school of LUVDISC could be found idly swimming in the shallow depths. Remembering how hungry one of the last fish had been, Barnaby decided to throw a generous portion of food into the stream. The LUVDISC frenzied to grab a bite, literally swimming over top one another. It was actually kind of brutal.

Seeing an opportunity, Barnaby threw a Safari Ball at the largest of the LUVDISC.

LUVDISC in hand, Barnaby quickly stuffed the Safari Ball in his bag and then kept on walking, leaving the other fish to quarrel over the remaining scraps of food. His pace was brisk; the afternoon sun was beginning to wane and he could feel that his new EEVEE was close at hand.

Even when a rogue HAPPINY threatened to interrupt his hike, Barnaby simply followed the plan - BAM, treat to the face.

Okay, the HAPPINY didn't really seem to appreciate that one. But when Barnaby started adding more variety to the mix - enough to where the Playhouse Pokémon was surrounded by myriad delectable delicacies - her temper subsided.

Again, when her guard was down Barnaby lobbed a Safari Ball at the HAPPINY.

Somehow, this new strategy was really working. None of the Pokémon so far had put up much of a fight. Man, they must all be starving or something in the Safari Zone.

Whatever the case, HAPPINY was easily captured and Barnaby continued on his way, taking only another fifteen minutes are so before arriving at the EEVEE meadow.

It still the late afternoon at this point and hotter than on days past, so most of the EEVEE had hidden away from a nap. He did see a lone female though and, true to form for this excursion, had Pepin bring her a bundle of treats as an olive branch.

The little female accepted them gratefully, mewing her happiness. She would be an excellent addition to Barnaby's growing collection.
