Yvette twisted an empty Pokéball in her off-hand as she chewed on her sandwich in the other. The weather was finally starting to warm up a bit, promising the tropical climate she’d come here for instead of the unusual cold snap she’d found instead.

Good. It meant she could spend her lunch breaks outside without freezing her tits off.

She tossed the last bite of her meal into her purse, unperturbed by the wild gnashing of phantom teeth within while she checked the time on her phone. About twenty more minutes before she had to get back to class. Plenty of time for a little detour…

his voice is sharp. assertive. it carries in the outdoors just as well as it does in any corporate office. his orders are absolute. without question.

his poipole, engaged in battle with a wild pokemon, floats around, squirming as it tries to aim its stinger properly. spurts of purple VENOM look to DRENCH the target but an unsteady swing of its abdomen makes its aim far from fair.

he stands, ankle deep in tall grass, observing, arms crossed.

A shadow soon swooped overhead, and Yvette glanced up in time to see the wide-winged Fearow that had decided to block out her sun. She clicked her tongue in annoyance, then pressed her thumb and index finger to her mouth and whistled.

In a flash her Salamence appeared from the tree line, clamping down on the bird’s wing with a vicious Thunder Fang. The Fearow gave an ugly screech as electricity coursed up and down its body, until both it and George crashed to the ground a little ways off. She soaked in both her renewed sunlight and easy victory for a few beats, before jogging up to join her Pokémon and their catch.

The Fearow wasn’t all George seemed to catch though. ”Well, well, well. Didn’t expect to spot Mr. Fortune-500 out in the wild,” Yvette greeted Silph as she caught up. The Fearow twitched where it lay limp in George’s grasp. Good, she’d been a little worried he’d overdone it. She tossed the empty Pokéball at it, for good measure.

”We didn’t interrupt anything, did we?” She eyed the unusual Pokémon at his side as she asked.

ON OCCASION, wild pokemon do battle. hunting, settling territory, it’s not unheard of but not too common for a wandering trainer. so when the clamor of yvette’s salamence tearing into a wild fearow interrupts the sounds of their own battle, he suspects it to be a trainer.

“that’s mister fortune one hundred best companies to work for,” he corrects with a tinge of playfulness. his eyes never peel away from his own pokemon, waiting for it to land a good enough blow to incapacitate the jynx.

when the poison seeps deep enough, taking its toll, he lobs a pokeball.

“no, never.” only now does he turn to face her, familiar with her appearance but unable to place a name to a face. “not unless you’re here to reschedule my guest lecture next month.”

Yvette’s eyes sparkled with delight as she considered the potential power move of rescheduling one of the most powerful people in the region. ”No, nothing like that. I’m just here to appreciate Hoenn’s wildlife up close,” she said, not taking her eyes off the Poipole even as it finished dispatching its opponent.

As if on cue, her Salamence raised his head from some nearby bushes, dangling an unfortunate Slowpoke from his jaws like a Meowth with a Rattatta. It seemed unaware of the danger it was in, even as George bit a little too hard and severed the poor things tail in two with a nasty Crunch, dropping it belly-up at his trainer’s feet.

Or maybe it simply didn’t have anything to worry about, as the stub slowly began to Regenerate even while it struggled to right itself. Yvette made a noise of interest, and tossed a Pokéball at it to study later.

the implication is pointed by his gaze. the wooloo several meters off is not a native species but one of the pokemon that’s been introduced to their ecosystem. the fact they’ve populated enough to be found in the wild shows how much time has passed since the GALARIAN EMBARGO’s dismissal.

“fascinating, isn’t it?”

his poipole too is a pokemon not native to these lands. if anything, they’re considered invasive, a clear predator with no real threats aside from trainers looking to capture them for their own purposes.

the sheep never has a chance. a well pointed POISON TAIL leads to the inevitable.

"Very," she agreed. "Increasingly so these days. I suppose you've got some interest in the subject as well. Either that or you're very indiscriminate in your team-building."

As she spoke, something slithered out of Yvette's bag and into the ground beneath her feet, infecting her shadow with a malicious grin. The living shade stretched out until it reached the Munna, who lowered down to inspect the strange phenomenon as it approached. It stared deep into the darkness, until the darkness stared back with twin swirling eyes appeared at its head and caught the pink baku in a Hypnotic gaze.

Crowley rose out of the ground to meet his prey, ready to finish the dream eater Pokémon with a fatal twist of irony, before a Pokéball bounced off the Munna's head and vanished it in a flash of red. "Ah-ah-ah! Heel!" Yvette barked with a snap of her fingers. The Spiritomb scowled, reluctantly retreating back into his master's shadow.

“POKEMON ARE A LOT LIKE PEOPLE.”

the wooloo’s pokeball sits firm between his fingers. it finds a home near the end of his belt, swapped out for an empty pokeball as he watches yvette’s spiritomb go to work.

“they have their talents as well as their weaknesses.”

his eyes divert as he takes a good look at their surroundings. it’s obvious he’s look for another pokemon.

a few meters out, an exploud awakens. the way it yawns with its DISARMING VOICE causes his poipole to flinch, but a sharp glare and snap sends the pokemon into battle.

“silph co. wouldn’t be what it is today if i couldn’t help people put their talents to use.”

just like with these foreign invaders, fernando utilizes them to the fullest. once a predator that threatened this very region, it now serves as a chief battler to combat wild pokemon.

the POISON JAB proves especially effective, no longer potent enough to kill the pokemon outright.
