Seemed like she was right. Another odd, extremely specific challenge. And, fortunately, someone had picked the pads, which were already being put to use. It made sense, of course. The four of them had been in this for a bit at this point, after all. Violet brought out her Salazzle herself. “Just Flamethrower this one,” she told it, simply figuring that shooting a small pillar of flame at the Togedemaru would not cause in any recoiling damage.

Instead of focusing on the outcome of this – not like she could do more than give a single command – she looked at the inscriptions mentioned, committing them to memory, too. More old tales. Probably related to some kind of legendary Pokemon. But this wasn’t a mystical organization trying to look for one of those. This was just a public challenge started by modern-day people. She would start taking this seriously as anything more than potential pop-quiz fodder later once she saw an actual legendary or the like. “So far they are just words. Keep them in mind though in case we have to remember them later.”

blissfully unaware of andrea's intentions to undress him for the sake of lore and science, nagi has his pen out and ready from the moment he steps into the room. he scribbles the next inscription onto his portable canvas — nose almost touching the skin of his forearm as he packs the words in tighter and smaller than before.

as violet finishes up her turn, nagi raises a hand to unseat his litwick from his head, brushing off a few stray crumbs as he does so.

"will-o-wisp."

the litwick stuffs the remainder of its jam biscuit into their mouth, before letting out a flare of blue flame. the glow arcs through air, and strikes the togedemaru.

three strikes. that should do it.

The dark was comforting, eh? Before the weird woman had finished talking, Violet had already pulled out a Pokeball and called out her Delphox, adding a brighter light than the candles by default. Yeah, it was a Pokemon given to her by a person she now spited, used out of spite. These people and their weird philosophical spiels were getting annoying, after all. Anonymity was not granted by darkness, far from it. In the dark, you show who you really are much more than you could in the light anyway.

Though she did not say any of that. Instead, she offered the other a smirk as she listened to the next weird challenge. This was…incredibly specific. And somehow, it still did not involve any of the items offered. Of course it didn’t. But fortunately, she at least knew what to do about the effects of berries. “I guess I will take care of the healing. Delphox, magic room. Hope someone has an idea for the other parts.”

Somehow, almost as if by miracle or by the hand of divine providence, someone DID have an idea and the means to actually pull it off. "We'll just have to make it hungry. Nothing's better for boosting people's appetite than a tea party!" Andrea said, before sending out a Polteageist of her own.

"Grail, use TEATIME!" The girl ordered, as her Polteageist manifested two cups out of thin air, filling them both with a hot, steamy beverage. Behind the Substitute, the enemy Polteageist could be seen indulging in said beverage. Getting a sudden craving for sweet, succulent fruit, it then gorged on the SITRUS BERRY that was in its ghostly appendage, which failed to restore its health thanks to the MAGIC ROOM.

it's dark. nagi blinks, vision adjusting to the low light, and peers at the walls and floor. but for all he tries, all he sees around him is an inky blackness, dotted with flickering candlelight. his arm is spared, at least for a room — but he feels a pang of regret, nonetheless.

violet and andrea make their moves (where did andrea get that polteageist? why is there sand in his mouth?) - leaving nagi with just one more task to fulfil.

"sherlock?"

one candle burns brighter than the rest in the room.

attacking the polteageist; litwick's infiltrator ability allows its attacks to bypass substitute.

"Good job, Ellie!" Andrea gave Elinor an approving thumbs up. That Wingull really had put in work! It was time for Andrea to do her part as well. "Go, Violet!" The dragon-costumed girl exclaimed, although rather than ordering Violet Fairbanks to throw hands with the Dragalge, she sent out a brand new Pokémon.

A sky blue dome of spikes burst out of the Pokéball, absorbing the Toxic Spikes. Hiding inside the dome was a much smaller, tentacled creature. Naming the Toxapex after the person that had traded it to her was a nice gesture in Andrea's eyes. One that the human Violet was sure to appreciate and not find questionable in the slightest.

The non-human Violet used her signature BANEFUL BUNKER move to not only protect herself against Dragalge's attack, but also POISON the giant seahorse upon contact. Normally this would have no effect, but thanks to Dragalge's type being changed to WATER everything went according to keikaku indeed!

if nagi tilts his head at just the right angle, the waning light of the candles catches on his scratched-up glasses, illuminating them with a hazy glint. something something keikaku.

not that he held any particular usefulness in their plan; elinor and andrea (and violet and... other violet) had handled the challenge objectives handily among themselves. ergo, he could just twiddle his thumbs and their team would be fine.

or he could pull another misty terrain times three! overkill is always fun.

his dragonite, who had been hovering place over the toxic spikes before other-violet had absorbed them, turns around, waiting for instruction; nagi's not sure what he sees beyond a pair of faintly-shiny glasses.

he points at the dragalge anyway.

the dragalge is blown backwards by a flurry of winds; close, but not knocked out yet.

dragonite is flying, and takes no damage from toxic spikes.

“Huh?” The sudden order was unexpected, to say the least. She turned towards the weird dragon girl, but then realized that she somehow had a Pokemon with the same name as herself. That was….weird, really. It wasn’t exactly a situation she had run into before. It had to be coincidence though. There was no way that this girl was just saying that to make fun of her or something. Much more likely explanation was that this was simply a wonderful and popular name, so it was obvious others would choose it too.

After all, that was what she had done herself. “Ah, it happens,” she noted to herself. Then she brought out a Pokemon of her own. Toxic Spikes didn’t do anything to poison types, she figured. So her pure poison Poipole was probably best suited for this. “Well, let’s finish this with a Dragon Pulse, then.”
