To say that this day was going according to plan would be a minor alteration of today’s event. She did a job for the League, helping one of their Daycares get some Pangoro’s to reproduce. How that situation had unfolded had been, well weird. But it had worked out in the end.

And now here she was. At a local bar in Petalburg City together with Matias, a person whom she knew very little of other than his name and that they had just made some Pangoro reproduce.

The first thing she did when they entered this bar was to go up to the barkeep and order one of the local craft beer’s the bar had to offer, if she was going to drink she was going to be fancy about it, though she made sure not to pick the most expensive one since Matias had offered to pay.

With that done, she would turn her attention to Matias. She didn’t need to charm this guy, so she didn’t bother with putting up the whole sophisticated façade which she so often used, instead, she spoke more directly. “So, we didn’t get to do a whole lot of talking back there…” She paused taking a second to figure out how she would word the next question. “What do usually do for a living?” Standard question, she figured it would be rude to just go straight ahead and ask for a summary of Matias as a person.

Elinor’s look of surprise probably said a lot more than any words she could’ve voiced. She grabbed the beer which had been placed in front of her and took a huge sip of it. “Well, I have to admit, I most certainly wasn’t expecting to be spending time with a Captain of the military, much less an Elite four today.” She spoke trying to calm her nerves. She hadn’t mentally prepared for an audience with someone of such high standing, even if it just were the E4.

“As for myself. I do the occasional job for the League while trying to make a career out of being a Pokémon trainer. Though, I haven’t gotten far on that part yet.” Elinor admitted. She looked from the beer and towards Matias.

“So, you said you teach…” She paused mentally preparing herself “Now, this might be a dumb question in hindsight, but what exactly do you teach?” She figured it would be Pokémon training, but she didn’t want to assume too much, besides there were other things in this world than Pokémon.

Elinor was a tad surprised when her question wasn’t irrelevant. While his job title ought to have told her that it was a possibility, she had assumed that an E4 would have taken to teaching about Pokémon. But here she was proven wrong.

“Oh… That was not what I was expected.” Elinor admitted with a bit of a chuckle as she reached for another sip of her beer. Its flavor hit her as hard as it did the first time. But she enjoyed it nonetheless. Then she returned to the conversation with a follow-up question.

“That’s not the first time I’ve heard someone claim that. And I have to be honest, I don’t think I quite get the difference. Maybe you could explain it to me?” Elinor was obviously a city girl, the closest thing she’d been to danger was maybe that one time a wild Pokémon had been trying to steal a Charja Cola out of her hands

this isn't the first conversation matias has had of this nature. in fact, it's happened quite often that it has almost become second nature.[break][break]

"when it comes to fighting or war, the aim is to defeat your enemy through whatever means necessary. in rocket's case, the means is usually through attacking us instead of our pokemon."[break][break]

Elinor nodded along as Matias began to explain. She noticed his explanation didn’t have pauses, so it was clearly not the first time he had to do the explanation. Even with the small break he took to empty his glass, she could do naught but be caught by this explanation, the very notion of using Pokémon for such an evil goal seemed foreign to her.

“Hmmm.” Elinor began as Matias finished. She had to ponder the difference, but in the end her mind focused in on the Rockets, a primary threat especially for someone of her standing. “It’s true Team Rocket does seem to become bolder with each passing day, maybe I ought to sign up to one of your classes.” Elinor said, though half in jest. But the thought lingered, enough so that she had to down the rest of her drink.

“But I assume your schedule is very full. So assuming you don’t have the time for another student, do you recommend anyone else that teaches the same subject?” She didn’t want appear to pushy, especially not when they were supposed to be enjoying a beer.

Elinor looked baffled, she hadn’t expected this sort of honesty. It was refreshing, to the point where she felt the sudden urge to empty her drink, which she promptly did just as the Bartender arrived. While the thought of another beer was appealing she wanted something more refreshing, instead, she decided for a White rum Mojito.

She had to admit that she found his ‘better-than-anyone-else’ attitude enamoring. While she didn’t know if his claim was just or not, she figured believing him didn’t do her any harm, so when he offered to teach her then there was only one possible answer. “I wouldn’t be asking if I weren’t willing." She smiled confidently as she spoke.

“And I have to admit. I can’t comprehend such indolence.” Elinor spoke. The bartender arrived with their next round. She took a sip. The refreshing sensation of white rum, Mint, lime and an added sweetness from Sugar washed over her.

Maybe she was partaking too quickly of the alcohol, for she felt an almost uncontrollable urge to keep on talking. “If you aren’t willing to improve upon yourself or even just fight for what you already have, then what is the point of it all.” A thoughtful, almost philosophical expression befell her face, as the alcohol made her delve deeper into the meaning of the struggle known as life.

Elinor felt a tingling sensation when he agreed with her. It was nice having someone of such standing agree to something SHE said. She was so used to being the parrot of her parent’s words that it felt nice to say her own for once. Wait, that was a weird thought. Where’d such thinking come from? She glanced towards the Alcohol she had been mindlessly sipping upon and realized therein laid her answer.

“Monday, got it.” Elinor nodded. Now, she hadn’t had plans to go to Lilycove, but she had to now. This had piqued her interest and there weren’t really any other plans blocking off her schedule for that day.

She finished her drink, and just as she did a stray thought passed through her head reminding her of something important. “Wait, I am going to need your contact information if I am to shoot you a message.” Even clouded by alcohol, her mind was clear enough to remember such a crucial piece of needed information, whether it be a phone number, email, or some other type of social media didn’t matter to her, she had no preferences for such things.

Elinor grabbed the phone carefully, maybe more so than one would had she been sober. She quickly typed her number into the phone, doing her best to resist the temptation of accidentally pressing the home button to see what a man like Matias would have on his home screen. Once done, she pressed the call button. Almost immediately her cell phone began to vibrate. And with that confirmed, she ended the call just as quickly and handed the phone back to Matias, before quickly adding Matias’s number to her list of contacts.

Once that was done, Matias let her know that drinking wasn’t the only thing he wanted to do. With a glance toward what she then saw as a mechanical Tauros, she realized he was challenging her. She didn’t mind. Getting away from the alcohol would be smart, since her willingness to consume far outpaced her ability to keep up.

“Yeah! Never tried one of those before!” She got up from the table and walked excitedly to the mechanical bull-Pokémon, but then as she reached it she remembered her manners and turned to Matias. “Do you want to go first?”
