[break][break] almost as if it just occurs to him that he had been injured. the adrenadline of the event had been a welcome distraction, but now that every thing had calmed down, the pain returned. jayden blinks, and then pushes his palm against the wound, eliciting pressure onto it. the wound wasn't particularly deep — but perhaps this was a good time as any.

[break][break] "just fine. let's go to the sub — there's a medbay there, and we can finish the details of your contract."

[break][break] in the dark, his eyes gleam.

It seemed the adrenaline had dulled Jayden’s sense of pain for a bit. But it returned the moment Gerald had pointed it out. Either way in pain or not. Jayden had offered to take a bullet for him, and that was exactly the sort of behavior he needed to see to be convinced.

And so when Jayden suggested they go to the sub and finish the contract, HIS contract. He nodded and said. “Yes, my contract and my contract alone.” He did emphasize the last part, though he figured Jayden would've gotten the point by now. He did not want to doom his little sister to a life in chains, if only he needed to be walking in the darkness.
