Bryan was incredibly bored, the tree had been particularly quiet as of late since rocket's adventure inside of it. The pokemon and the tree itself possibly "sleeping" given what had been occurring deeper inside. [break][break]

Maybe it was at ease cause of his presence? [break][break]

Bryan did want to breathe some life into it he supposed and decided to start slathering some of the smaller trees inside of the tree to see if it'd get some of the Pokémon in the area to wake up and become more active. However, he didn't expect to run into jayden cross of all people here.

it was really only a matter of time before jayden found himself inside the tree itself. he already had explored the area surrounding it, along with the city proper. it was only right after all — considering the fact that this was his home.

[break][break] and of course — it was only a matter of time before he met his old rocket colleagues once again. this time, it was bryan delarosa .

[break][break] only, he wished it under slightly less inconvenient circumstances. his fingers were attached to the tree by way of the honey, bound to the sticky yellow substance.

[break][break] his violet gaze glanced at the beast. "... ah, could you help?"

[break][break] his pokeballs were unfortunately a few feet away. an inconvenience, really.

He stared at jayden. [break][break]

He hadn't seem him in so long he was caught off guard when he suddenly happen to find him. Bryan raised an eyebrow, he was stuck in a pitiful state. "You know I COULD beat you up right now for when you first initiated me into rocket?" he said when a grin that would be all too familiar to Jayden. [break][break]

The event was so long ago though. He didn't really care anymore. [break][break]

Bryan put his palm towards the tree and pinched the air as if he was pinching the tree itself. Jayden would see that the tree would begin to bend and move with bryan's gestures and eventually his hand would be released as he made the tree's bark move in a way that would let Jayden yank himself free. "But you're lucky I still like you even after all of that."

[break][break] jayden pauses. an awkward silence passes — the former beast has never been an expert at tactic or conversation, but of course bryan delarosa knows that. they've known each other as long as the latter has been in rocket.

[break][break] "i would appreciate if you would free me first," he adds. "i don't think it'd be very challenging to have it be one-sided."

[break][break] he isn't sure what he was expecting, but bending the tree certainly was not it. surprised flashed in jayden's eyes as the trunk swayed as if in a storm, snapping the sappy substance off of his touch all too easily. he glanced quickly at the other — he'd heard of the changes in bryan delarosa by way of Cillian Quinn. though, it was still surprising to see up-close.

[break][break] well, perhaps even freed, it would still be a little one-sided.

[break][break] jayden popped his fingers into his mouth, to lick the sticky substance. "i appreciate it," he says regardless, flashing a mirrored smile at the other. "our friendship means a lot to me."

He was stunned to hear those words from Jayden. [break][break]

Bryan didn't really think he had many friends, there were those who feared him, those who respected him, and those who wanted to use him. [break][break]

But a friend? He had looked at Jayden with a small look of shock before turning away before the smile could be seen on his face. [break][break]

He tried to distract jayden cross from being more mushy as Bryan wasnt the best with feelings. "So what are you doing here? Looking for berries? There are some good eggant berries that grow around here." he says pointing in a random direction as he moved over to another part of the tree and slathered more honey on some bark. "Or did you have the same idea I did with this honey stuff?"

if jayden notices the effect his words have on the rocket beast, he doesn't mention it.

[break][break] jayden pulls a cloth out of his pocket, cleaning off the remainder of the sticky substances, when the conversation changes topic. eggant berries, hm? perhaps they would be good to mix into lada's food later. "thanks, i'll take a look later."

[break][break] now that he is free from the tree's sticky hold, he is free to walk around as he pleases. he squints a bit closer at the sticky sap that is rolled onto the tree, observing it, before glancing back. "oh, i just wanted to get a better look. the branches stretch above my house but i can't really get a close look from here. actually, there was honey on the trunk when i had arrived already." perhaps one of the city's patrons had started the effort before the avatar.

[break][break] he pauses, looking a bit sheepish. "i didn't think it'd be so sticky when i sought out to touch it." thank goodness for bryan delarosa , huh?

[break][break] the rocket's head tilts towards the other. "what was your idea, though?" he peers curiously at him.

[break][break] in the distance, his shuppet lets out a faraway cackle as he zooms through the tree's branches, disappearing into a spark of light. making mischief, as usual.

He tilted his head at jayden, why not just use a pokemon and fly near them...the tree branches hadn't really reacted to Bryan as of late but he had no idea if that's cause part of xerneas was in him. [break][break]

"I see." he comments as he looks up towards the inside of the tree. There was plenty of light coming in from above, an unknown source maybe? He knew better than to meddle in things he couldn't understand. Jayden had asked him why he was putting honey on the tree and bryan chuckled. "Give the pokemon here something to eat, maybe rile em up for some fun." he comments. [break][break]

"Fairy pokemon are very playful. I know that better than anyone, their play is often in trickery so im sure one is responsible for making that honey extra sticky." he says as he looks behind jayden and realizes who the culprit was. It was actually his own pokemon. "Ribombee!" he calls out as the queen of his hive flew over to him, the shiny little queen bowing to him. "You were up to no good huh?" he says putting a finger on her head and rubbing it to pet her. Were ribombee and shuppet working together? It's possible, two was better than one. It would make sense, after all Bryan and Jayden were once a duo as well, it was only natural their like minded pokemon would cooperate to reunite the two. [break][break]

"Oh right, you didn't get a chance to explore the inside of the tree did you?" he said looking towards the entrance where rocket had entered. "Not even I would go in alone, there's dangerous pokemon in there. Some people died."

though it was probably obvious to anyone who knew him, jayden's speciality lied in ghost types not in fairies. though, he observes the other with mild curiosity as he explained to him the ways of his fairy type brethren.

[break][break] he recalls the days in the tanglewood back in galar, where both ghost and fairy types lived alike. perhaps it was even then that he was fated to meet someone like bryan delarosa , who's interest in fairy types so perfectly mirrored his own.

[break][break] perhaps it was those types of things that had led them to littleroot all those years ago.

[break][break] jayden watches as the hive queen buzzes down from her perch to bow towards the rocket beast. almost ironically, a collection of pine cones rain down from the tree's canopy, threatening to bury them. it's his DRIFBLIM that saves them, speeding above them with a mouth ajar as she SWALLOWS them.

[break][break] "you might be right," he agrees, turning. "droes is always up to no good after all." despite his words, there is something affectionate in jayden's gaze. he may have had a complicated relationship with his shuppet, but he did help to reduce the nightmares that so often swelled in his thoughts, if by the very nature of the ghost type.

[break][break] oh? he blinks with surprise. "no, not really. i haven't — "

[break][break] his words are cut off, however, by the latter part of his friend's words. his stomach churns, throat tightening inexplicably.

[break][break] "i.. heard about — " he hesitates. in front of Cillian Quinn , he hadn't been able to say the name. but in front of bryan delarosa ? his friend? "i heard about chu-e."

His face soured at the mention of Chu-e Choi . He took a moment, and awkward silence hung in the air like the dew on a leaf in early mornings. [break][break]

He suddenly found his mouth very dry as he awkwardly licked his lips. "I...I was there when it happen." he awkwardly admits. [break][break]

"It's my own fault he passed. I could've saved him if I had a better grasp on my abilities." he says with a sadness that was not very in character for Bryan. "I can heal people to perfect health once in a while. The only person it didn't perfectly work on was oscar clayton ." he mentions "If I had known. I could've saved him.." he frowns as this was the first time he told someone.
