Despite Fenrir’s wider wingspan—and the subsequent tangle of cording that the current obstacle presented—the draconid managed to fight his way through.

(Even though he’d gotten snagged a couple of times and had to stop flying because apparently it was Alexei who’d gotten stuck, and so they had to work together to untangle themselves from the mess.)

He had no idea where the other was, or if they’d gone ahead—all he knew was that the tangle of cords was trickier than the last few times that this had been set up.

“Oof, what the—fuck,” he hissed as he forced a particularly stubborn web of cords apart just wide enough for them to fly through.

[attr="class","postbody"] the obstacle is more frustrating than anticipated. if it was just by himself, and they were on the floor and not in the sky, this would be a cake-walk. he thinks about the hst battle that he had with samuel carter , and the similarities of the two.

[break][break] they would have to really work on the aerial aspect of this, one day, he thought.

[break][break] his gaze flashes to the side as one of he feels them steer to a stop. surely enough, the tight space and endless amounts of rope were working against them. it had gotten stuck in the dragapult's wing, and jayden shifted in his seat to see if he could pry if from the other. a dagger flashes out quick, cutting the cord and hopefully freeing the beast.

[break][break] it flashes out beneath his cuff quick enough, and jayden's gaze drifts briefly towards Alexei Ivanov wondering if the other noticed.

And now they were at the very last obstacle—oh, boy.

The wind was complicating matters even more because it was picking, up, fast, and it also smelled quite damp. That only meant one thing—rain was coming.

The aerial battering ram was the final obstacle that lay before them, and as the other made his way out of the net crawl—

“Simple thing, get through the entire battering ram without getting hit before I do, and you win the badge!” he said as he pointed towards the swinging selection before shooting off ahead.

Because there was nothing else to it, they were down to the wire and it was time to put the pedal to the metal!

[attr="class","postbody"] simple. as if anything about this ordeal was simple! jayden grit his teeth, suddenly missing the comfort of his feet on the ground. after all this was over, he would have to re-configure his training regimen; being so out of sorts in the sky was in no way effective.

[break][break] the aerial battering ram nearly slams into him, but jayden tugs sharp on the reigns and steers his dragapult left, just narrowly missing a cleaver to the head.

One ram missed, but there was another coming up from beneath, aiming to potentially unseat the other man from his Dragapult should he not be holding on for his fucking life as the force behind the wind literally made these—made this particular stretch of obstacles—particularly deadly.

Over on Alexei’s side, the Noivern was letting out screeching noises of alarm as the air currents he was riding on suddenly changed direction all too quickly, all too soon—the wind was getting pretty violent and looked to unseat them before another one of the ‘rams’ came swinging in dangerously close to his head!

“WHOA!” he yelped as he flattened himself as best as he could on Fenrir’s back, the wind whistling too close to his ears as the Noiverk shrieked in dismay but continued to battle the crosswind that was throwing them off-course.

[attr="class","postbody"] just as he narrowly avoids one, another comes his way. it knocks into the back of his dragapult who releases a shout of pain and jayden has to narrow his body down against his pokemon's scales to avoid being knocked into the ground beneath.

[break][break] "careful," he cautions, steering them up into the sky. Alexei Ivanov is still in the distance, but he hadn't yet crossed over the starting line.

[break][break] if they didn't get their act together soon, this all would've been for nothing.

[break][break] he whistles sharp beneath his breath as two battering rams crash into each other. he pulls his dragapult up higher, allowing them to slip past, but only narrowly.
