EXPOSITION

A COOKING CONTEST IS BEING CONDUCTED IN LILYCOVE CITY, sponsored by the Iron Lady Forge run by Aurelie Lefevre. In honor of Lilycove City's status as one of the foremost ports and seaside cities in Hoenn, participating cooks will compete against each other in a multi-course cook-off to create several delicious seafood and/or ocean-themed dishes. Each contestant may bring one (and only one!) Pokemon partner as a sous chef to assist with their cookery.[break][break]

Judging will be performed by well-known Lilycove restauranteurs and chefs, who will assess each dish based on taste, presentation, technique, and creativity. The winner will be crowned the STEEL CHEF.[break][break]

The Iron Lady Forge will supply high-quality, hand-forged chef's knives, cleavers, paring knives, tongs, kitchen shears, and other essential culinary tools crafted from the finest steel to be used by any interested participants. All participants will be able to take home a favorite knife or utensil from the Iron Lady Forge if they choose.[break][break]

SETTING

THE STEEL CHEF [break]COMPETITION KITCHEN

ALL THOSE WHO CHOOSE TO SIGN UP and enter the cooking competition will be ushered into a large warehouse near the Lilycove City harbor reserved for the occasion. Inside the warehouse, all the chefs will be assembled within a high-ceilinged, cavernous kitchen space equipped with numerous rows of prep and cooking stations, one for each chef to use.[break][break]

Each prep and cook station featuers a gleaming stainless-steel countertop, stainless steel sink, gas stove, and electric oven. At the front of the kitchen is the presentation area, where the judges will sit together at a long table when tasting and appraising the contestants' dishes.[break][break]

A hallway to one side of the kitchen leads to the equipment room and pantry, which contain all the materials, cookware, and ingredients that contestants might need. Planter boxes line one wall of the pantry, filled with fresh herbs and greens that chefs can harvest and use in their dishes.[break][break]

The rest of the pantry is filled with shelves, refrigerators, and bins of fresh produce, meat, seafood, spices and seasonings, dairy, breads and grains, and kitchen staples (eggs, salt, sugar, flour, butter, several different types of cooking oil, cooking wine, and more) to help chefs bring their unique concoctions to life.[break][break]

• To join the contest, please post before the deadline specified at the bottom of this post.
• The cooking contest will feature several rounds with deadlines.
• Each round will feature a prompt to fulfill (a theme ingredient that must be included in the dish that your character must prepare and cook on the spot).
• Each contestant must post once per round and make a roll at the end. If you miss a round, you won't be disqualified, but your chances to win will be lower. The roll will represent the judges' opinion of the contestant's dish.
• At the end of the contest, the contestant with the highest roll total will be the winner. Therefore, please add up all your rolls at the end of each post.
• Winning the contest will give your character a [Clever? Cool? Tough?] Pokemon Contest win.

IT'S BEEN A YEAR SINCE THE PROJECTED IMPACT OF THE 99943 METENO METEOROID, which would have brought cataclysmic devastation to Hoenn and decimated its human and Pokemon population. Since then, the people of Hoenn have faced numerous other emergencies, disasters, and life-or-death crises that have brought confusion, chaos, and panic. For many, those times of sabotage and strife, travail and trauma are best left behind to be buried and forgotten.[break][break]

Yet, forgetting isn't always the easiest thing to do — or the healthiest response to stress and struggle, either. Instead of trying to bury these harrowing experiences, a few enterprising souls are trying to reforge them into something more cheerful and hopeful. A new tradition: a celebration of endurance and survival, even in the face of impending doom, faction warfare, and multiversal peril.[break][break]

During the month of November, friends and loved ones can exchange a series of five gifts in remembrance of the five days when Hoenn civilians were evacuated into bunkers and shelters in anticipation of 99943 METENO's predicted impact. Like a mini advent calendar, one gift is opened and enjoyed each day. The days and themes for each gift are as follows:[break][break]

• Day 1: In memory of Hoenn's cities and towns going dark as civilians were evacuated, the gift is something that holds or gives off light.

• Day 2: In memory of the suspense and anxiety inspired by a potential apocalypse, the gift is something to entertain and amuse.

• Day 3: In memory of the pain and grief caused by faction clashes, the gift is something to soothe and comfort.
[break]

• Day 4: In recognition of new rifts to other worlds being opened and new discoveries being made, the gift is something for travel.
[break]

• Day 5: In recognition of everything that was lost and won, the gift is something to eat, drink, or both. A small portion should be left as an offering in honor of the sacrifices made to ensure Hoenn's ongoing existence.

EXPOSITION

Time for some BUBBLE TEA BREWING! Who will emerge the MILK TEA MASTER? Sponsored by both the Iron Lady Forge and the Bubble, Bubble Tea, and Trouble cafe in Lilycove City, this contest will test its competitors' mixing and tasting skills for creating exciting, delicious bubble tea recipes. Each contestant may bring one Pokemon partner to assist with their tea preparations, and all ingredients and cooking supplies will be generously provided by the contest sponsors.[break][break]

Judging will be performed by Xiura Balfaltin and other local cafe owners and restaurateurs, who will assess each boba tea based on TASTE, TECHNIQUE, AND CREATIVITY. Each round will ask for a different category of bubble tea flavors that the contestants will have to incorporate into their creation, from fruit to floral or herbal flavors. In the end, may the tastiest and most refreshing bubble tea maker win!

GUIDELINES

This is a contest that takes place during the month of November. The prize will be a COOL ribbon. Each round will also include bonus participation prizes.[break][break]
