“Yeah, I am going to need two hours. But you can drop me off at the hotel that I am staying at and I will be ready by then.” She informed him before she gave him the name and address of the hotel.

Once there she got out of the Corviknight Taxi, thanked him for the ride, and informed him that she would be waiting for him in the lobby by the appointed time. While he seemed nice, there was no way she’d give Callan, a man who was still very much a stranger to her, her room number.

She sent glances over her shoulders as she walked in, making sure that neither he nor one of his Pokémon was following her until she got to her room.

Once inside she would begin to make herself ready. First a bath, then applying Make-up and picking whichever clothes she could find. While all of this was being done. The Pokémon she had picked as companions during her trip were squabbling about which Pizza they would order. The Treecko wanted Vegan, Talonflame wanted extra spicy BBQ meat, and the Aron, well the Aron didn’t want Pizza but since democracy had decided Pizza, Pizza was what he would be getting. “Don’t squabble or there will be no pizza.” She spoke sternly which halted the growing discontent between the three Pokémon who didn’t want to go with her on this date, the other three were already snuggling in their Pokéballs placed in the purse she would wear.

Two hours passed by in the blink of an eye. She was ready, at least physically. She had ordered the Pizza and instructed Talonflame on how to pay for it. And she had even procured some entertainment in the form of the latest gritty Detective Pikachu flick. She hadn’t seen it, but how bad could it be?

Worry began to ease its way into her mind. Is it okay to leave them alone? Thoughts such as that began to fly around. But she tried not to focus on those thoughts. She was just going to go out and have fun after a day’s worth of good work.

She made her way to the lobby and waited for Callan to arrive. Though compared to before he might not even recognize her were it not for the long pink hair which now fell gently down her back. She had forgone her attempts of looking like a ranger and chosen instead a more high-class look with a stylish formfitting black dress, and fitting shoes alongside a neat jacket that matched the outfit.

While waiting she checked the purse which hung from her right shoulder and confirmed all that she figured she needed was in there. Then she checked her wristwatch before looking around impatiently hoping that Callan would appear sooner rather than later.

Ah, there he is! She thought as her eyes finally found him. She gave him a quick elevator gaze, hoping that he wouldn’t notice it as she made her way over to him.

Elinor couldn’t help but blush at Callan’s reaction. While it wasn’t the first time someone had reacted to her like that, it didn’t change the fact that his reaction was so genuine that it could be nothing but a compliment. “Thank you.” She accepted his compliment graciously. As she used her left hand to swipe a bit of her pink hair behind her ear. “But I am not the only one who is looking good tonight.” She shot a compliment right back at him and tried to not sound too high-culture about it.

He then took her hand. She hadn’t expected someone like Callan to greet her in such an old-fashioned way. She figured it might be the surroundings affecting him. “Oh, a Jazz bar, I have never been to one of those.” She didn’t even try to hide her excitement. It wasn’t exactly the kind of place her parents would let her frequent without an expressed purpose, and alas she hadn’t had a reason to visit something like that before now.

“As for Liquor as long as it isn’t too strong, I will try anything at least once.” She was open-minded like that. She then offered him her hand so that he could lead them to wherever they were meant to go. “Lead the way.” She humbly suggested.

She noticed the edges of his ears betraying the otherwise cool composure that Callan was keeping. She found it endearing that he would react in such a way to her. Though she wasn’t unfamiliar with the effect she could have on the opposite gender, it still made her feel good.

And as Callan lead the way, she listened to his assurance that they would have a somewhat wide variety of cocktails. It pleased her. She was then taken by surprise when they got outside as a Gardevoir teleported them to their destination. She felt a bit wobbly as they appeared in front of their destination. Her eyes needed time to adjust as well. It was a new experience since she had never actually tried teleporting before.

But she quickly recovered and was able to focus on her surroundings. From the outside, the place looked sophisticated, but when she walked inside along with Callan, she could do naught but be captivated by the atmosphere. Old habits compelled her to look out over the place, trying to spot if there were any faces she might recognize or deem noteworthy. But she saw nothing and returned her attention to the man who was so graciously accompanying her. She had to admit this was much more like a date than she had imagined it would be. And for once she didn’t mind it.

She saw how he waved at the bartender and was recognized. She gave a small polite wave as well, letting the person know that she was accompanying Callan. Then Callan showed her to their seats. She looked at it for a moment. It was some nice, quiet, intimate seats, but with a great view of the band. She took a seat, placing her purse and the light jacket she had been wearing by her side.

With Callan sitting so close to her, eyeing her. She felt her cheeks flushing more than ever before. But at this point, she had given up on controlling it and tried instead to allow it to give her some more color. “I love it.” She stated. “I have to admit. I did not know what to expect. But it seems like you took whichever scale was I going to use and decided it wasn’t big enough.” She gave a small chuckle as her eyes scanned the place again trying to not make it so obvious that she was checking him out just as much as he was checking her out. At last her eyes tried to meet his just as she began to ask. “So, do you come here often?”

He squished her hand. She smiled delightedly in response. She figured his squish was because she gave the right answer. She felt the gentle caress of his thumb against hers, which only helped increase the warmth she was suddenly feeling. Though she couldn’t quite decide if it was herself or the room that was getting warmer.

She listened and gave a small but thoughtful nod as he explained that he only came here on special occasions. She assumed this meant he thought she was something special, she would be lying if she said she didn’t enjoy that thought. Though in the back of her mind, she knew that it was dangerous to be swept away by his words. Yet, it was tempting to do so. He brought up the subject of this place’s price point. In the small pause that he took, she considered offering to pay or at least pay half. But before she could breach the subject, he began to speak.

He sounded or seemed very dreamy when he began to speak about his love for music, and the unique atmosphere of jazz. She felt captivated by his words. And so it came almost as a surprise when he turned the subject on her “Hmmm.” She tried to hide her surprise by seemingly contemplating the answer. “Well, I must admit it has been a while since I just listened to music outside of whatever the radio decides to play.” Which much to her dismay was often the newest nonsensical pop hit. She paused. “But I’ve always been fond of classical music.” Her smile stayed on her lips as she turned her attention to the performers. “I suppose that makes me a bit old-fashioned…“ She paused yet again, thoughtful before continuing. “But there’s just something about it, a way in which it invokes emotions in me which makes it much more appealing to me. If that makes sense.” As the words left her, she began to doubt her words, was this because she had been taught to like nothing else, or was this her own opinion. She would ponder on that later.

She turned back to Callan and returned the question to him. “You said you play sometimes. What do you enjoy playing the most?”

It certainly sounded like Callan knew what he was talking about. She had to admit she had thought no deeper on the subject. But she would certainly listen to all the words he had to say on the subject.

However, his pause didn’t go unnoticed when she asked her question. She gave him a reassuring smile. She didn’t expect him to play something as fancy as that, she would even be fine if he played the aforementioned pop songs. It seemed he found some reassurance in her eyes and maybe that was why she couldn’t help but look surprised when he answered. “Metal, huh.” She mumbled fascinated, without paying much attention to his small discomfort. She hadn’t thought him a metal-head maybe pop-rock but that just goes to show how much she knew on the matter.

Callan continued. First informing her that he did play rock variations as well, and then which instrument he played. Now the instrument came as no surprise upon the revelation already given to her. She turned her attention towards the hand that Callan showed her. It truly looked like the hand of someone dedicated to their craft. “And I would like to listen to you playing.” She admitted. A small tuft of hair quietly fell in front of her vision. She used her free hand to slide it back behind her ear almost shyly as she tried to think of some witty remark, but for once she was drawing blanks.

And as if trying to save her, the music changed. She noticed the pause in Callan, then the fact that he looked towards the space at the center in front of the band. Now, she might not be a mathematician but it didn’t take long to put two and two together to see where Callan was heading. “Dance?” She feigned surprise. “Sure!” She moved to get up from their seat, though making sure that Callan could take the lead since he seemed to be enjoying that.

A promise was given. Time would only tell if the promise would be upheld. They made their way to the dance floor, and while deeply entwined in each other began to dance. Each step, each motion follows the music’s gentle beat.

It was clear to Elinor that he was trying to take into account her stature and the difference in leg length. While much appreciated she found it much easier to adjust to his movements given that she had some experience with dancing. Soon she found herself growing closer and closer to synchronicity with Callan. And as their dance reached perfection, so too where they joined on the dance floor.

And as they danced alongside the music, she looked deep into Callan’s eyes as he held her tight. His lips moved ever closer, and at last, he asked for a kiss. For a moment she hesitated, not because she didn’t want to, but because she was afraid that this was going too fast. But in the end, she locked her lips with his joining him in a kiss as they tenderly continued their dance.

Had her hesitation been too obvious. It was a question she pondered as their lips locked. But it was quickly pushed away as the warmth of the connection shared between them spread. This was nice, just dancing, kissing. Her legs felt almost gooey, and she had to be honest that was a first for her.

And once the kiss ended, she was wanting for more. But alas Callan asked a rather blunt question. She looked at him, quickly considering whether to lie or not. But she realized lying would do her no good here. She nodded. “Yeah, it was.” She wondered why he asked. Had her hesitation seemed due to inexperience? While she had had people attempt to garner her favor before, there had been no chemistry and she had made sure to stay safe. So yeah Callan was her first.

She sent him an apologetic smile, one which quickly turned a bit mischievous. “Why? Was it that bad?” She joked but figured whether it had been or not Callan would never say tell her the truth.
