So, when he had said training. She hadn’t expected to be searching for some athlete who’d gotten lost. Not that she was going to complain. Doing outdoorsy things was almost always a nice thing even if they were traversing beaten paths. She was glad that she’d chosen to wear appropriate attire.

But as she followed what seemed to be the freshest human print, it suddenly ended right in front of a set of prints she couldn’t exactly recognize, though from what she could see whatever it was had some huge claws.

The human prints which had stopped seemed to turn and run off the path. An odd choice, but one probably made in panic. “Tracking isn’t exactly my forte, but I think this – “ She pointed towards what she believed to be the tracks of the runner. “- Something might’ve attacked or at least surprised them, making them go in that direction.” She looked towards Matias, hoping to see some manner of acknowledgment

Matias agreed with her assessment. This pleased her. It was nice to know that though her life had mostly been spent among cities, she could still somehow work within the confines of nature. It meant she wasn’t without talent as a trainer, or so she thought.

Caught in her own praising monologue, Matias began to walk down the path she had pointed out. Reminding her that they were on a timer as he did.

She quickly caught up to him, just in time to hear his question. She shrugged. “I am afraid I do not. Though it seemed to have large claws, and if I remember correctly, this area is teeming with Fire-types. But that doesn’t narrow our list of potential suspects down by a lot.” She admitted. She continued her scouting, trying to see if she could find more evidence, may it be a footprint, ripped threads from clothing, or whatnot.

a fire-type with large claws. briefly, he cannot help but reflect back to the groudon incident. he peers up at mount chimney in the near distance to catch glimpses of the battle that once raged on there.[break][break]

up ahead, a single MAGICAL LEAF announces the presence of virizion who leaps into the scene, galloping ahead as she leads the way.

She gave a small nod in agreement as Matias pointed out that the runner was chased down the path. “I don’t have any that are particularly good at tracking. But I have a few capable of flight, and a few ready if we need to fight whatever it is.” She explained. Again, this was her first search and rescue mission, so she was sorely lacking. "Do you think we might be able to spot them from the air?" She asked, as she retrieved the Pokéball containing her Talonflame, ready to release it if he thought it a good idea.

Still, she did her best and focused on the path ahead until a single Leaf of a mystical nature announced the appearance of a Pokémon she had never seen or heard of before. It was elegant and seemed to want them to follow it.

The Virizion didn’t have to ask twice. As it galloped ahead. So too did Elinor increase her pace almost to a run in an attempt to follow it. She only sent a few glances toward Matias, trying to see if he had any sort of reaction to the very unusual Pokémon.

matias has become so familair with virizion's presence that he doesn't even stop to realize that others might not be aware of their dynamic. so, when elinor turns to look at him, matias only smiles in response, nodding ahead at the virizion.[break][break]

"she's pretty fast! we gotta keep up."[break][break]

virizion leads them for a bit further until they reach a drop in the cliff. she pokes her head over, gesturing down the cliff.[break][break]

"looks like we gotta scale down."

She returned the Pokéball with Talonflame to her pocket as their friendly neighborhood Verizion turned up.

Wait, She? He seemed far too familiar with the Pokémon, she thought as she began to run alongside Matias. She was thankful that running was one of the few ways of training that she often partook in, even if it wasn’t exactly running in the wilds.

By the time they reached their destination, she figured the question could wait until later. Still, she couldn’t help but steal glances at the green Grassland Pokémon, before she turned her attention to the drop in the cliff.

“Don’t you think scaling it might take too long? You said it yourself, we are on a timer.” Elinor retrieved another Pokéball. “My Salamence can carry us down there.” She spoke, holding the Pokéball in her hand but not releasing it until Matias had acknowledged the plan.

Matias seemed to accept the plan. And so she released the Salamence from its confinement. It materialized by her side, stretching as the feeling of fresh air hit his skin. It looked from Elinor and onto Matias and back again. “Gon, I need you to carry us down there.” She said before climbing up on the back of the Salamence. It looked towards Matias again, unimpressed by what he saw. But then he looked at Virizion, confusion in his gaze before he looked back at Matias and sighed, gesturing with his head for the human man to climb up.

Once the man had climbed onto him the Salamence would take off. Trying to do it as gently as it could for the sake of Elinor. Once in the air, it would propel itself forward with a few quick basks of its wings as it dived down the cliff until it reached the bottom where it would land heavily. “Thanks for the ride,” Elinor said gently giving its neck a quick pat while Matias would surely make his way off its back. She would do the same soon after, before retrieving it back into its Pokéball and returning to her trying to track the runner once again.

no idea why her salamence may be unimpressed but matias doesn't even notice. he simply gets on, waits, then slides off as soon as they land.[break][break]

and the moment matias turns to look at the tracks, virizion appears out of thin air, leaving a trail of MAGICAL LEAVES behind her.[break][break]

"oh. hey there."[break][break]

after nodding at virizion, matias turns back to the tracks, then points north.[break][break]

A look of surprise washed over her as the Virizion showed up once again. Still, she turned her attention to the tracks nodding as Matias stated in which direction the tracks seemed to lead. "Seems so." She merely stated. It seemed to be correct, even for her barely trained eyes.

She began to move in the direction of the tracks doing her best to look for any changes in them. She figured that Matias would follow along accompanied by his strange almost mythical Pokémon. She tried to turn her curiosity away from the Green Pokémon. She had to stay focused on the task at hand.

his pace picks up once again as he starts jogging, following the trail of blood before coming up to a small cave.[break][break]

Something caught the attention of Matias. Elinor followed where he looked and noticed it as well. Blood. Not a lot, but enough, and it only grew in amount as they followed it. “Seems like it.” Elinor agreed. She began to jog along with Matias, keeping up as best she could.

Once they reached the cave she retrieved one of her Pokéballs. Holding it firmly in her right hand, ready to pull the trigger and release the Pokémon at the smallest sign of danger.

She began to sneak up to the cave entrance, trying to peak in. It was awfully quiet all things considered. Too quiet. She looked toward Matias to see if he thought the same.
