The Gardevoir narrows its gaze on the Gallade, standing strong against the defiance of its male counterpart. She whips up a storm of MAGICAL LEAF as Blade whips up his own SPRINGTIDE STORM to scatter the sharp bladed foliage from the course it set towards him.

Healed for now, Zarude joins the fight yet again. With the Mega Blastoise apparently handled by the Scepticile, she aids Blade in his fight against the Mega Gardevoir. BIND erupts from the ground beneath her, thick vines entangling her in a snare she cannot escape.

“Did I see who?” she glances around for the alternate Matias, “The Sea Matias?” she feels strange even using Matias’s name to describe someone else. They may look alike, even act alike at times, but Eva didn’t see him as Matias, “Why’d he smile?” were they missing something. Eva instinctively spins around to make sure nothing is sneaking up behind them, “And where’s – Well, me?” Eva figured they’d be together. Plus, she was the more reasonable one and Eva had questions . . . and a warning.

SPRINGTIDE STORM — a move he hasn't seen since their eventful visit to the tea place. in fact, he hasn't even called out his own kubfu since then, perhaps wary of what the blessing truly entails.[break][break]

his thoughts don't drift for long, however.[break][break]

still, it unsettles him. what does sea matias know that they don't? that he doesn't?[break][break]

redirecting his anger, matias looks to the blastoise that's quickly losing the battle. not fast enough, however.[break][break]

wisps of energy surround him as he cracks open another pokeball. kangaskhan MEGA EVOLVES only to immediately close the distance to throw SHADOW CLAWS. that, along with sceptile's LEAF BLADE, is more than enough to contain the blastoise.[break][break]

virizion rejoins matias by his side as well.[break][break]

Sea!Matias is missing, Sea!Eva is missing . . . it’s just them in a battle with their counterpart’s pokemon, “You don’t think they’re . . .” her mind immediately flashes back to their journey to SeaHoenn, and how Eva’s counterpart had tricked half of the group into thinking it was her for a bit. Well . . . mostly tricked them. Some caught on. But most of Hoenn didn’t know her like that. Sea!Eva may be able to easily fool them.

Blade TELEPORTS back to Eva and Matias’s side as Vizirion arrives too. In a panic now, Eva breaks off from the group, sprinting back towards the direction they came from to make sure they weren’t be fooled into remaining at the forefront of the portal while the other two walked safely into their world.

All that remains is the Mega Gardevor, trapped beneath an infuriating BIND. They must not have Zarude in their world because she attempts to throw the dark-type back with PSYCHIC, the failure only infuriating her further. Acacia snickers, sitting on her haunches to watch the Gardevoir struggle for a little bit longer.

he's about to turn to follow only to be stopped by a whoosh. his eyes flick to the portal before him just in time to see an ICE SHARD shooting his way.[break][break]

too slow to fully dodge it, it pierces into his shoulder, cutting through flesh to draw blood.[break][break]

"VIRI—"[BREAK][BREAK]

the PROTECT forms right as more ICE SHARDS spike through. each one slam into the shield though none break through as virizion places herself between matias and the portal.

Then his own voice crying out in pain. It stops her in her tracks as she spins around to look in horror at the shards flying towards him, “MATIAS!” she should have never left. She abandons her hunt to pivot and run back to him.

BIND crawls even further up the Gardevoir’s body, smothering her in the coffin until she’s no longer moving. The commotion at the portal draws Acacia’s attention, and the ape pounds the earth once again, roaring a challenge at the unseen enemy.

“Matias! Don’t move, let me look at it,” she skids to a halt beside him, “Blade,” her voice trembles, and he knows what she wants, HEAL PULSE stems from his palms and baths Matias in a soothing aura. Eva gently touches his arm and his shoulder around the wound. Thankfully, it doesn’t look too bad.

the moment the ICE SHARD impales him, the crystalline-like object melts back into water, leaving his shoulder ajar and bleeding.[break][break]

despite that, the wound isn't too bad, especially when compared to the wounds he had returning home after his encounter with young Eris Halla.[break][break]

as eva assesses his wound, anger bubbles once again as matias looks around the room.[break][break]

"FOCUS UP."[break][break]

because the last thing they need is for their teamwork to fall apart more than it already has. the others seem to sense it, too, as sounds of laughter come from the portal.[break][break]

with the blastoise unconscious, sceptile and kangaskhan converge on the gardevoir.

It’s rare to watch Eva get angry, but the laughter sparks a fire in her that never blazes. Her eyes narrow, shoulder grow tense, and hand clench into tiny fists. Emerald eyes flash with red as she glares at the portal, “You think this is funny?!” she growls between clenched teeth.

Less and less she wanted to warn these animals about the meteor.

Just kidding, she definitely would.

Eva stands closer to Matias as Blade steps forward to take his place beside Virizion between them and the portal.

HEAL PULSE and adrenaline help numb the pain the best they can, allowing him the freedom to focus on the fight at hand.[break][break]

what fight, though? with the sea pokemon either down or contained, he doesn't see a possible outcome where the other side comes out victorious.[break][break]

he watches the VINE WHIPS fly forward only to pull sea eva out from within the portal.[break][break]

Acacia finds purchase on what feels like a human of some sort. She’s quick to snap it up and toss it into their world. Tangled in the Zarude’s vines is Sea!Eva, caught by the wrist.

It’s surreal seeing her again. Like looking in a mirror. If that really what Eva looks like? She should work on her hair . . .

Overall, the real Eva is happy to see her counterpart. A rational Sea!Hoennian she may be able to reason with, “Bind her!” Eva orders the Zarude. In her excitement, Eva forgot they were slippery little things. Before the vines could keep their hold, the coutnerpart’s wrist phases into water and escapes Acacia’s grip.

As Eva frowns, Sea!Eva smiles, waving the same hand at her counterpart in greeting.

Well, hi to you too! She shifts her gaze to the pokemon surrounding her before answering Matias with a familiar cheery tone, He’s busy, she takes a casual step back, closer to the portal.

sceptile and kagaskhan's assault on the once-BOUND gardevoir comes to an end. the psychic-type slumps to the ground, fainted and unconscious.[break][break]

the moment sea eva takes a casual step back, virizion is quick to appear with her LEAF BLADE, appearing close to sea eva before holding it up in warning.[break][break]

Sea!Eva frowns as the Gradevoir slumps to the ground, overtaken by the number of pokemon her counterparts had brought to the fight. You can see she is displeased with all the unnecessary violence. At least they had that in common.

Upon the rise of Virizion’s LEAF BLADE, Sea!Eva flinches, raising her hands over her head, “Okay, okay, okay, fiiiine I get it,” she stands still and glares past the grass-type legendary at Matias and Eva, “What do you want?”

“Thanks, babe,” she smiles to Matias, moving forward to meet her alternate self. Eva stands beside Virizion, placing a gentle hand on the pokemon shoulder meant to encourage her to lower her blade. Intimidation wasn’t Eva’s style.

The two stand closer to each other, talking in hushed voices for some time. Both look frustrated with the other as they bounce back and forth between questions and explanations. Eventually, the Eva-s spin around to stomp back towards their perspective worlds, irritated.

virizion lowers her LEAF BLADE and takes a step back, allowing the two evas their privacy.[break][break]

while the two evas exchange hushed words and whispers that matias cannot overhear, he spends his time watching the space around them, making sure his sea-self isn't up to no good.[break][break]

thankfully, it seems they've seen the last of sea matias. at least for this particular encounter.[break][break]

“Well, I was tryna to get it out of her what they want, why they’re suddenly invading our Hoenn. She just kept saying ‘Queen’s Orders’,” Eva mockingly repeats Sea!Eva’s practiced response, “She doesn’t seem to know why. They’re not really looking for anything. She thinks it’s revenge maybe? But the details weren’t shared with them,” Or at least Sea!Eva. Perhaps her counterpart isn’t as trustworthy or doesn’t hold as high of a rank in Sea!Hoenn as Eva does in real Hoenn.
