Oscar gazed upward, breathing in deeply as he took in the fresh air. The sky had very few clouds, allowing the sun to cast its light onto every corner of Route 120. It was a truly beautiful afternoon, even with his joints aching and needing to use his cane for today's walk Oscar found himself with a skip in his step.

Oscar looked to his companion, a one Martín del Mar who very kindly agreed to accompany him on this stroll. "It feels good to be able to enjoy the outdoors again. We couldn't have picked a better day to do this." Thanks to the mysterious powers of Xerneas, Oscar had somewhat recovered from his horrific alien illness, though the parasite that was the Endless still existed in his body. Thankfully, its hold over Oscar was a lot weaker and he could finally enjoy doing some field work again.

Did I say field work? I mean stroll and bond with his good pal Martin. Oscar watched a chirping Taillow fly by, chuckling at the blasé way it carried itself. He could only hope to be so free, though he could relate to its joy. After spending months in bed, it was a relief to take in the sun on a wonderful day such as this. Oscar looked forward, a content smile resting on his face.

"The spot that farmer told us about should be nearby right? The one that would be great for a picnic?"

There’s nothing quite like going for a stroll on a nice day with one’s good friend.

Since, surely anyone who saw Martín del Mar and oscar clayton together and recognized them would think nothing of it; just two businessmen enjoying a pleasant day outdoors, because so much of their lives is spent in offices and conference rooms and what not. Mars even sports his most pleasant, calm, and jovial smile, and when his companion comments on how good it is to be able to enjoy the outdoors again, there’s the light and melodious sound of a laugh.

”Sure is, it’s good to see you out and about. We should do things like these more often.”

In contrast with the sort of thing they actually do often, which of course, is just the sort of boring business talk you’d expect from two CEOs… Nothing illegal, obviously! Just like there’s nothing illegal about their plans for today. Nothing at all!

”I think we’re close, yeah.” That smile of his reaches his eyes, and if he spends a little too long looking at their surroundings, it’s obviously just that he’s… birdwatching! Yeah! The same can be said about the Persian by his side; nothing at all strange about the way its whiskers twitch as if detecting the presence of someone nearby.

Oscar looked to their Persian companion, smiling as the twitching of its whiskers became more and more frequent. The beast observed both sides of the path, attempting to estimate which side would most likely hold the location of their--picnic spot. One side lead down into a steep slope lake, a rather scenic destination but it held little value for---picnics. The other side however...

The Persian stopped, its whiskers pointing straight upward. Just in time for Oscar to consider the forest thicket on the other side of their path. He crossed over past Mars and observed the forest quietly. It also went down into a slope, steep but more manageable then the lake-side. The forest seemed to go downward for miles, it might take a long time to find their--picnic spot. However, Oscar's observant eyes would spot undeniable signs of--picnics. They were on the right track.

He waved Mars over, pointing toward a tree that stood several feet down the slope. It had a low hanging branch that was snapped, the pointed tip bearing a dark red color. Oscar sneered, "According to the smashed bushes just beyond there, it would seem that branch caught someone by surprise and they had a little tumble down the slope. We should really make sure they're alright." Oscar looked to Mars, his eyes gleaming with the spark of mischief.

It is a well known fact that when hunting for the perfect spot where to have a picnic, one must be observant; pay attention to every detail and watch carefully. Much to Mars’ delight, oscar clayton results to be quite good at all of that. Just as is to be expected from a R–... remarkable businessman.

And so, when Oscar waves him over, the banker steps closer, and he too notices the snapped branch and the maroon marks upon it. How terrible! His expression remains calm, but his mouth opens into a perfect “o” when hearing his companion’s suggestion – all while his gaze remains fixed on what may just be a sign of their picnic spot’s whereabouts.

”That’s a great point. I’m sure they would love a helpful hand right about now… or a paw.”

His own hand rests on the Persian’s head when saying this, scratching behind one of its round ears. For, after all, Dollar has proven himself to be incredibly helpful when it comes to this sort of situation! He even steps forward the moment his trainer moves his hand away, approaching the branch in question.

Mars, in turn, smiles at Oscar, sparks of mischief shimmering in his own amber gaze.

Oscar chuckled quietly, "Yes I think that's a brilliant idea!" Oscar strode forward, using his cane to keep himself balanced as he walked downhill. Tracking this 'stranger in need' would not be hard, their little tumble left a convenient trail deep into the woods. Oscar was not quiet as he pushed forward, he wanted the 'stranger' to know he was coming. To help.

Oscar followed the broken twigs and drops of blood to a large log that jutted from the ground. Here the trail stopped going in a straight line, with the drops of blood curving and heading toward a nearby tree. It would seem the stranger was able to stop his fall and make it behind cover, was he still there? Oscar sneered, looking to Mars as he pointed a thumb toward the tree. Without further delay, he charged over and abruptly popped up on the other side.

"Surprise!"

No one was there. Oscar's shoulders drooped, "What the fuck?" He scratched his head, looking around for signs of the trail continuing. Unfortunately this was it, he must have recovered and bolted before they got there. Oscar groaned, "What a disappointment. Oh well at least we still have--" Hold on, what was this? Oscar did not notice before, but it would seem some fallen leaves was covering up an opening in the base of the tree. It was a tight squeeze, but a smaller human could for sure duck within. Oscar grinned, and shoved the end of his cane into the opening.

A voice cried out, and Oscar bent down to see a bloodied young man tucked into a fetal position beneath the tree's roots. "You lucky fuck! Or I guess unlucky in this case." Oscar began trying to pull the skinny lad out, but the bastard fought feverishly to stay within his hiding spot. Oscar staggered back, grimacing as he looked into the man's defiant glare. Oscar turned to Mars, "Our friend here seems to be stuck."

At first, there’s nothing, and that's a major cause for concern. Had this stranger really managed to esc–... make it out of the woods despite their injuries? Surely not, right? The blood back there had been fresh! But, what if they have a teleporting pokémon or something…

”Oh?” Observant as ever, Oscar notices an opening in the base of the tree that had been subtly covered by some fallen leaves and, lo and behold, when he shoves the end of his cane in it, there’s a scream. Aha! Bingo!

Too bad that it looks as if this poor injured stranger is resisting their help.
[break][break]
”Ah, how terrible.” Putting a hand on the tree, Mars leans in closer to look into the hole, giving a bright smile that perhaps comes with a little too much ease – especially considering that it does not reach his gaze at all. ”Don’t worry, my friend. We’ll have you out of there in no time.”

”Dollar, why don’t you help him out of the hole?”
[break][break]
The Persian responds with a soft rumbling sound, moving closer to the tree and looking at the man. Heavy paws reach forward, extending sharp claws that soon dig into the fabric of pants. The feline pulls, and as he does, pained cries cut through the air, fabric being stained by a trickle of scarlet.

Standing where he knows the mess won’t reach him, Mars leans against the tree.
[break][break]
”You know, things are always easier when you don’t resist.”
[break][break]
Too bad that that lesson has been learned too late by this friend of theirs.

Martin came to Oscar's rescue, compelling his Persian to lend the trapped man a helping paw. The persian went right to work, lovingly clawing at the man to encourage his emergence. Standing close to Mars, Oscar tsked while leaning leisurely onto his cane. "You'll have to forgive the claws, Persians have no tumbs."

With just a little bit more effort, the persian would eventually 'hook' onto the man's bloodied leg and pull it out of hiding. Oscar smirked, "I can take it from here!" He dropped his cane, hopping forward with the speed of a hunter finally finding its prey. He grasped the bloodied leg, pulling with all his might. The man screamed, sliding out against his will. He could not latch onto the tree, despite his best efforts, and Oscar would end up dragging him into the open.

The man turned onto his back as Oscar walked over and grabbed his cane. He shouted many expletives that Oscar paid no mind, the beast casually holding his cane aloft before smacking it into the man's mouth. There was a nasty crunch as the man reached up to hold his mouth. It would seem that Oscar dislodged a tooth or two, judging from the agonized look in the man's eyes. At least it shut him up.

Oscar winced, "Sorry, my hand slipped. I was trying to help you up, I swear. Let me try again." Oscar pressed the tip of his cane into the man's chest, pressing down to ensure that he could not go and get himself into trouble again. The man kept his hands to his mouth, trying to keep blood from getting everywhere. Oscar looked to Mars, "You know Mars, I think our friend here could use a picnic. Maybe we should invite him to ours!"

See, the thing about forests is that they’re just so green. Green and grey and brown and the more green. Sometimes an accent colour is needed, sought after, and welcomed, and in this particular case, that accent colour happens to be scarlet.

There’s screams, there’s shouts, there’s pleads, and cries for help. And, through it all, Mars’ attention focuses on a verdant leaf that had been covered in red spatter. In the corner of his eye, he registers the way Oscar so very kindly helps their lost and injured friend, but for the most part, he looks at the leaf. There’s something fascinating about it.

”Oscar, that’s an excellent idea!” He exclaims with a bright and ever so charming smile, and when stepping closer, he steps on the leaf without even realising it. Whoops. Oh well, it had only been fascinating for a second anyway.

He goes on to step on their friend’s chest, since you know, can’t let his shoes get stained in red!

”I think all of us having a picnic would be wonderful, don’t you?”
[break][break]
All of us, including the Persian by his side, who the man looks at in fear of what it might do, even if Dollar now is doing no more than licking his paws to clean them after the mess he made when helping them out.

As Mars agreed with his suggestion, Oscar would give their lost pal a manic grin. "Well friend, I hope you're hungry!" Oscar raised his cane, wielding it like a golf club. The man shook his head, looking increasingly desperate. If he had just stayed with his Rocket friends, he surely would have never gotten lost to begin with. Oh well, maybe in the next life...

"...Opps."

Oscar swung too hard, his cane finished the job instantaneously. It was a gruesome sight, hardly appropriate for an afternoon outing. It was probably for the best, as much as he detested this lost lad Oscar was not one for sadism. With a bit of struggle, Oscar dislodged his cane and wiped it off on the heel of his boot. "I didn't know my own strength, sorry about that.

Oscar held his cane properly, looking to Mars's persian. At least someone would get to have a nice meal. Hm, speaking of. Oscar tilted his head, "You wanna get some brunch? I know a place in Foretree that has divine mimosas."
