Indeed, the mission he had been given by his mother had ensured he was very busy lately. He had been working on projects left and right, though he had taken every excuse he could to utilize them to spend more time with his wife and kids. Such as this one, where this was a perfect excuse to spend time with Izumi while he was always getting a potential opportunity to see more Pokemon. And potential sources of inspiration for his project for the mission couldn’t hurt.

He lovingly took Izumi’s hand as the two wandered through the flowery fields, looking for the glowing flowers. He listened attentively as Izumi would detail what information she knew. “It’s strange that they would just pop up in such great numbers out of nowhere like that” Josh commented in turn. “Is it possible that a Pokemon is responsible?”

Oh he was definitely paying attention to his other work. It was no wonder he was so busy. Lately Pokemon had been behaving strangely, hell an entire horde of Bewear had been storming through a public route recently. All he’d been able to do was ensure they didn’t hurt other trainers and do what he could for them to calm down. So he had definitely been busy between both faucets of work.

But when wasn’t he multitasking?

Still, he had only gotten wind of this flower thing recently, so he continued to listen attentively to Izumi’s briefing. Of course when she failed at the noogie, he didn’t hesitate to wrap his arms around her and get her with one in turn.

“The rifts” he brought up as he began to piece it together. “What if they were brought from those rifts? The same one that changed Buddy.”

She made a point regarding the Pokemon and Josh thought about it a moment longer.

“I dunno. Not every Pokemon that came with me into those rifts came out changed. Lightning so far seems completely unchanged” Josh pointed out in response. “Remember, some Pokemon have the capacity for different formes, like Castform and Rotom, under different conditions. It could be the same here when it comes to Pokemon being exposed to these rifts. Some Pokemon around here could be from them, but they look just like the ones we’re familiar with.”

She was enjoying correcting him a little too much though, and he ruffled her hair in response with a smirk and a roll of his eyes.

“Flowers like that don’t just start growing out of nowhere either. It could be a Pokemon is responsible, or it could either be these rifts or close proximity to an Ultra Wormhole.”

Josh playfully squeezed her hand in turn. “My job as a Trainer and as a Ranger is to know everything I can about Pokemon. What if there’s something I could do for a Pokemon but I don’t know how? I need to learn as much as I can to be the best that I can be. It’s kinda like being a parent” he pointed out with a small laugh.

But he was definitely noticing that the flowers were getting brighter. He frowned slightly, subtly bringing his guard up a bit more.

“It’s gonna take time for them to record enough information for an update. This is still all really new.”

Well, there they were. The flowers were literally glowing. Josh would gaze at them with a curious eye, blissfully unaware of whatever horrors they may bring. The writer is also unaware because he hasn’t paid enough attention, RIP.

“Right” he answered as the blonde would check around the area, continuing to see even more glowing flowers. “Looks like this date got a bit more magical than we anticipated” he commented as he found even more of the things.

“Seriously, these are bloody everywhere!”
