Taking just a few steps forward to retrieve the newly caught ghost of his, he tossed the Pokeball up once before catching it. Xanthous hues lingered upon its sheen as the light reflected off of it before he turned his head towards the woman once more.[break][break]

”...That aside, I wouldn’t say thirty percent, though~.” As if a gun to a holster, he clasped the aforementioned capsule upon his person before crossing his arms, sending a passing glance towards the approaching Pokemon while making a lenient stride back over, thinking for just a moment before tossing yet another capsule towards the smaller one. ”I’d say twenty is more likely— maybe twenty-five at most~.”[break][break]

she sighs, half in exasperation and half in defeat. she knows better than to continue on with this kind of person, anyways (what, with how often he's tried to scare her, or tease her, or generally make in fun of her during her time in rocket). she imagines that getting the same terrified and anxiety-ridden reactions get old and tiring, though. an idle glance passes over the two pokemon wandering by, and she casually throws a pokeball at the husk bug before she can catch a glimpse of what void was its open back. [break][break]

then she hums, watching as the pokeball shakes once, twice, thrice, and clicks. "ah? only twenty?" she hums, narrowing her eyes "then lets go with five. i was being too generous earlier~."

Truthfully speaking, it was likely still a bit off with how he acted on the norm, but each hypothetical percentage meant a lot for a man like him, in any case. The thought of scaling one’s enjoyability to be around had, in itself, been a concept that struck a sense of amusement with him, however, and it prompted the smirk upon his lips to broaden faintly before he hummed.[break][break]

”In any case, though, is there anything specific you’ve been doing?” he mused on, raising a brow. ”Any breakthroughs in your experiments? Little tidbits you were surprised to learn by chance?”[break][break]

if only to bash on a man's self-esteem, though she knows that it would take a lot more than that to wipe the sly and coy smile on his face. her lips curl into another smile as she narrows her eyes, watching as a fairy and a bird both make their merry ways. the wafting scent of berries seemed to follow the perfume pokemon. "well, gengar is an interesting pokemon, for one." she hums, a smile to her lips as she tilts her head. "a type of mega-evolved gengar, that is. they say its mouth is the way to the afterlife~" her gaze falls to a pokeball, and specifically one of her gastly "whispers of loved ones could be heard in their mouths - i wonder what a clefable could hear if they stood close enough?~"

The thought in itself was interesting, and oddly enough, something he hadn’t quite known, himself. Far be it for him to claim himself a researcher, though. Often times, he learned things as they came by, and if not for that, then for the sake of his own aliases and mission details— things that would prove useful.[break][break]

it's surprising that he didn't know, but she doesn't expect him to know about these facts. after all, mega-gengars weren't exactly a common sight, to begin with. never mind the fact that they seem to have more than one mega-evolution. she wonders if it's possible for a single gengar to take on both forms. it'd require further research. her eyes wander, and see the little speck of purple make its way into her peripheral, almost.. looking like it's running to her, slicking along, before holding its little wax arms against her leg. then she stares, and there's a brief reflection of familiarity. [break][break]

not that she would show it on her face. [break][break]

she quickly pulls out a pokeball, throwing it at the little candle pokemon, before turning her attention.. back to the question asked. she's lucky she has a good memory (and has gotten better at managing distractions). "i doubt i'd hear anything asides from cursing, or sneering." she sighs, hooking the pokeball onto her belt "horrible parents, neglectful parents, you understand."

Something that they had in common, oddly enough, but also something that he hadn’t paid much attention to in light of simply not caring about his own. To some degree, after all, he knew full well that they were at fault for the way he’d turned the chapters of his own story. It was odd to think of a universe in which he had a better household; a better web of support.[break][break]

He turned a little bit more, only sparing a brief look towards a passing bear to toss another Pokeball its way before looking further along the paths.[break][break]

bitterness is cold, and frosty, when there's a bite in her words and disdain in the crease of her brows. they're unpleasant memories, honestly, especially when she's so easily reminded with the gravestones systematically spread apart, and scattered about across the field. "but that changed, real fast." [break][break]

it changes because she just wouldn't get better, no matter how many drugs her mom pumped into her, no matter how much time is spent in therapy. "mother just accepted that there was no fixing me, that's about it." she was a saviour who desperately tried to save her daughter, and she was hopeful (until she found another sewn together corpse in her cubby, decaying and rotton). "... anyways, i'm not here to visit their graves." they pass by headstones, familiar writing with portraits of a young man and a young woman, buried together, even after they've split. "i'm more interested in the pokemon graves."

An unpopular opinion, surely, alongside a bitter truth. Far be it for him to claim he held the abundant knowledge of the situation she’d grown up in, but nevertheless, there had always been holes and faults in the story he’d learned to know; holes that he’d learned to fill in with his own context and assumptions.[break][break]

Regardless of a child or adult, after all, there was always a certain point in which a person would go stir crazy. As bitter as the reasonings were, he figured that—on some twisted level—the situation had been warranted.[break][break]

Never minding the fact that he’d have been just as resentful in her position.[break][break]

With an ongoing touch of amusement, his eyes strayed towards the very same stones that she’d taken a look at as they walked along. His gaze lingered just faintly longer than hers before finding the woman, herself, within it yet again.[break][break]

all she remembers are words of disdain, and hatred, and a grudge that burns so strongly she may suffocate on its fumes. [break][break]

but being practical and realistic comes with the inevitable feeling of pessimism, so it's a little foreign for her to hear something optimistic coming from a man's lips (even if she's aware that it's true, and she knows, first hand, how her mother had struggled to try and bring her precious, kind-hearted, slightly anxious and mess of a daughter back). "perhaps" is all she says, and her arms cross as she leisurely continues her stroll.[break][break]

leaving the past in the past is difficult, especially when she's reminded and faced with it every time she opens up a damned book.[break][break]

so much so that she pauses, a fair few paces from the familiar gravestone. her eyes narrow again, though after a fleeting thought, the woman shakes her head. "father already said his fill" her tone is filled with venom, that time "he's doubtlessly laughing at me from his grave. possibly tormenting mother." her blood boils, but her fingers curl into her fist as she takes a moment's respite. Whether or not the intent had been to deliberately press a button or two, the remark came amidst a small scoff of a chuckle, all while hues of gold lingered upon the person with him for a while longer. Upon noting her gaze stray and maintain itself upon the very same stones they’d paid attention to prior, he cast another, secondarily brief glance towards them before clicking his tongue.[break][break]

”...That doesn’t actually answer the question, though, either,” he mused, raising a brow as a touch of amusement prompted the smile upon his lips to curl just a bit more. ”Maturity to move on isn’t related to your own curiosities~.”[break][break]
