Their pep talk and rationalizing of the sitution did little to ease her nerves. But it still did indeed do something, the world was no longer ending. [break][break]

But it was still pretty shitty. [break][break]

"I-I guess you're both right... I just..what should I even do? If I make a move against Matias I'd be just as bad as him and probably go against the league's best interests..If I dont then..Cobalion..our promise.." she said as it began to dawn on her that she had to make a decision, time was moving..is that why Cobalion was following her so closely?[[break][break]

The deal she had made with Cobalion during the Hoenn star tournament, the one she never spoke of so that it wouldn't be used against her. She placed her hands on her face, not crying but sighing loudly with frustration as her anger rose. "God damn it. I dont want to lose Cobalion...but the league.." [break][break]

She wasn't one to go against authority, but what is she to do when two authority figures in her life demanded different very different actions from her?

When Angelo returns from rummaging through the cabin below, bottle in his hand and thoughts of the League's mess echoing in his mind, Melody Miro has her head cradled dejectedly in her palms.

How long had he been down there?

Long enough for the conversation to shift, apparently. He'd caught the tail end of it coming from the Elite Four on a weary sigh, as he'd advanced up the stairs.

A glance is shot his partner's way, confusion briefly conveyed in the arch of a brow and mild concern reflected in the ripple of blue. What did you say to her now? It seemed to light-heartedly ask skyler dross, with no real blame.

Angelo takes a seat across from the troubled pop sensation. Waves lapping at the sides of the boat a peaceful backdrop, as he unscrews the lid of the tequila and unwinds his thoughts into focus.

“I might've missed something,” he passes the question and bottle over to Melody, subtly prying for more insight into her claim that she didn't want to lose her legendary companion at the expense of the League. “But does being a League official mean a lot to Cobalion?”

Angelo was of the opinion that actions spoke louder than which dotted line the ink dries...

Skyler barely allows enough time for Angelo to unscrew the tequila bottle. His arm is stretched out to Melody when Skyler snags it for herself, takes a hearty swig of it, then a second, and only then does she present it to the pop idol. As far as the sailor was concerned, all of them here needed it.

Well, Angelo was doing a fine enough job. But he was used to dealing with his siblings. Skyler, on the other hand, was awfully lacking in this department. All this emotional upheaval was giving her a headache.

The tequila helped, of course. Thank Arceus.

"Don't think it matters much," she answers Angelo, leaning back with a sigh. Then, to Melody. "Yeah,'m not sure the League would be keen on vigilante justice."

And to lose Cobalion on top of this? Because she hadn't upheld the values it defended? It is not like Melody had killed the Relicanth herself - would the legendary expect retribution for its death?

"Wait - hold up." Skyler leans forward, expression intent as she peers at Melody and the pokeball holding Cobalion. "If Cobalion's the issue here, just have it fight Matias. Not Matias' pokemon - Matias himself." A bit too bloodthirsty, maybe. "Or, y'know, have Cobalion itself decide Matias' punishment. The League could hardly argue against that."

She was a genius.

As Skyler answers Angelo's question Melody holds on for a moment before speaking. "I..I don't think he cares, he only cares about Pokémon. Human's don't really interest him all that much aside from me. I'd imagine though given what he's seen rocket do to some pokemon he'd ever work with someone from rocket." she adds to Skyler's statement. [break][break]

There were conditions to her Pokémon staying with her. "I don't think I can just leave it to Cobalion, this is a test I think.." she tells them as she pulls her legs up to her chest. "When we agreed to worked together, we made a promise to one another. I'm bound by it. Bring justice to those that needlessly harm Pokémon regardless of affiliation...He's been acting weird lately and I wonder if it's because he wants me to do something. But he wont just tell me.. I'm not used to not being told what I need to do.." she adds as her life had always been controlled and guided for her by others. [break][break]

Her mother controlled her entire life, she was the one to decide everything..but Cobalion wouldn't listen to her, he wouldn't accept Madeleine Miro 's demands or orders. She was on her own, and she was lost. "He's so far got a suspension of his elite four title and he has to be escorted around hoenn. He cant be left alone..I don't know what's going through dahlia goode 's mind. I thought I knew her better but..this meteor business and how we're handling him has shown I don't really know much of anything at all it seems." she lived in her own world for far too long. [break][break]

"What sucks most of all is Cobalion getting into a brawl with virizion during all of it. Regardless of what we do, if matias is as close to virizion as I am to cobalion. I doubt Cobalion would see eye to eye with her anymore. The swords of justice are probably done for.."

Angelo wets his lips slowly, resisting the urge to pinch the bridge of his nose, laugh or snatch the bottle for himself and achieve reprieve behind the veil of an unconcerned tequila cloud.

Vigilante justice was not what he had been suggesting. It had been but a curious attempt to dig into what motivated Cobalion. Why Melody thought to leave the League would see the legendary that had chosen her, desert her in turn.

Instead, skyler dross receives a sarcastically slow clap.

He at least got somewhat of a peek into the answer.

“Brilliant. Hope dahlia goode has been keeping up with her ancient, legendary language lessons.”

Angelo does end up prying the tequila bottle from the small group while Melody talks, taking a swig as her worries settle over the boat like heavy air.

I'm not used to not being told what I need to do..

“Then it sounds to me that it's time you start thinking about what's important to you, Mels. Especially with this... justice stuff.”

Wiping a tequila drop from his mouth with the back of his hand, Angelo's voice is even, calm like Alto Marean waters, as he suggests doing exactly what Melody says she can't.

He'd been there before. In a place where he put other people's needs and wellbeing above his own. Had forced himself into a box he didn't fit for them, always for them. Letting dreams slip through outstretched fingers with heart breaking willingness.

It had taken a lot of time, after experiencing life in Hoenn and meeting certain people in his life, to make him realise he could still care about those he loved without sacrificing himself.

“Cobalion picked you because you're you. Try not to forget that.”

It's hard. He knows. It's hard.

But the freedom to live as yourself is worth it.

"You try and come up with something better, why don't you."

The fact that her plan is shot down before it's allowed to take flight causes a fierce frown to flash across her face. It'd been, in her opinion, a perfectly executable plan. Charades were still a thing.

While angelo vestri puts his 'older sibling' pants on, offering no-doubt excellent advice to the distressed Elite Four, Skyler leans back and eyes the bottle Angelo has taken for his own, thoughtful. Matias' lack of punishment doesn't surprise her, but it also doesn't sit right with her.

After Angelo takes a swig of the bottle, Skyler's hand flashes out to pluck it for herself.

"No offense, but the League's got this whole greater good thing going on. Great for them, I s'pose, but it blinds 'em to the small things." And those add up quickly enough, as they'd seen in Sootopolis and the shift in public opinion that led to some people revolting against the League.

It was happening all over, right under their noses.

"I'll have a chat with him," she tells Melody Miro , voice set low in an attempt to reassure the idol. Chat isn't exactly what she has in mind, but Melody doesn't need to know that. "Right now we have a mission ahead of us."

Daylight's wasting, and all.

She gets up from her halfway reclined position, resting a hand on Melody's shoulder as she walks past and squeezing it lightly. "If we can help in any way, Mels, we will. Just need t' ask."

As she takes to the helm, Skyler wonders if drinking and diving are the best combination when it comes to Melody, especially when there's no kyle lopez here to bring her back to the world of the living.

Ah, well. Skyler shrugs the concern away easily enough. The captain knows CPR - she's sure they'll be just fine.

They gave her a lot to think about, thoughts and vodka weren't the worlds best mix. [break][break]

But it did help you get fucked up which was the goal of drinking she supposed. [break][break]

"I-I don't.." she says as her eyes began to close slightly, damn why was this hitting her so fast? Was...was she a light weight? It had been a while since she ate so the vodka made her feel really tired already. "I'm sleepy.." she says as veins pulsed on her back, hidden out of sight from angelo and skyler. [break][break]

However she wouldn't forget their words. They had planted seeds in her mind that would soon sprout. [break][break]

Suddenly, Melody was out like a light right then and there, falling asleep sitting as she began to snore slightly. She didn't even make it to where he was from. But honestly, she wasn't ready to bury him just yet.
