after five months away, aaron is itching to celebrate his return to the city. only — he doesn't really have anyone to celebrate it with. after letting him slither back into their home, Greyson Connors is called away to beat up some bright-eyed trainer or save the world or something, leaving him with no plan b. [break][break]well, actually, his plan b looks a lot like staying in for the night and playing video games, but that doesn't really scream celebration. [break][break] for a brief and frighteningly desperate moment, mint frost crosses his mind. at its heels comes another thought, a kneejerk yeah, fuck no.

hitting the bar alone doesn't sound like such a bad idea, all things considered. he sifts through the uncharacteristically laundered clothes in his duffel bag for something to wear, throws it on, and heads out.

he couldn't really call himself a regular at this bar, but he had thrown up all over the men's bathroom here on his eighteen birthday so one could call him emotionally connected to this place. like the lingering feelings about one's first love, if first love resembled something like not cleaning up your mess and never returning to an establishment (until now).

aaron approaches the bar, unsure of what to pick first. something to get him unsteady on his feet after one glass? something so fruity that he can't taste the sharp edge of alcohol? something fucking awful, like beer? he steals a glance at the person to his left, then the person to his right.

Life fucking sucks.

When she wasn't battling off CALLISTA MOON 's sharp gaze, or barking at paxton concordas to focus up, she was being sent off to fucking shitty ass Slateport to pick up the trash Rocket had created for the city. It sucked and she was thoroughly tired of the long, sluggish over time she was forced into accepting on a weekly basis, all so her coworkers could go home early and 'see their children'.

So, when she was finally allowed off at her NORMAL time, she found herself returning to the only way she knew how to celebrate: hitting up the bar.

She originally debating on inviting CALLISTA MOON out, but as things were still tense between them, she wasn't sure whether it'd only further add to the distance between them, or lead to another awkward unopened text. So she went alone.

"An Old fashion," She grunted at the bartender. The drink came out shortly after, bitter in all the worst ways possible. It was just the way she liked it.

When Aaron first approached the bar, she hadn't exactly noticed, as her gaze was set straight forward. Too many thoughts picked at her brain for her to pay much attention to her surroundings. It wasn't until he spoke up that she turned to face him, eyes dull with apathy.

"An old fashion."

the woman beside him seems to look through him, the dry expression on her face smothering every crackle and spark of energy out of the air around them. she answers simply: an old fashioned.

"okay, cool." aaron is a little too dumb to be put off by dull eyes and short words. he lifts his hand to grab the bartender's attention, leaning forward over the bar as he waits for them to get close enough to order. thumbing towards her drink, he says, "hey, uh, i'll have what she's having."

he levels a stare at his drink as its placed down in front of him. it looks intimidating when its not coupled with an equally intimidating-looking girl. his hand reaches out to cup the glass experimentally, then he lifts the drink to his lips to take a courageously large sip.
[break][break]
aaron's face twists up in disgust as the liquid fills his mouth. big fucking mistake, he realizes too late, struggling to swallow it down. he cringes at the aftertaste, resisting the urge to lock his muscles up and dramatically curl up like a bug and die. then, thankfully, he feels (or imagines) the heady cloud of alcohol on an empty stomach rolling in.

"ugh," the noise comes from the back of his throat. he looks towards the woman who damned him to finishing this. "yo — you like this shit? forreal?"
