annalise tilts her head at the second pokemon ollie morales calls out. it looks like a stantler, but it clearly isn't. her eyes linger on it for a moment before snapping toward her student, lips splitting into a mirrored grin when she sees the mischievous one on his face. "good! 'cause i'm going to really challenge you today!"[break][break]
cotton candy's dragon pulse whizzes over ollie's head. annalise watches him turn his face away to look at the sphere of energy as it shrinks down into nothingness. too easy, he says, but she hasn't even started yet![break][break]
"that was just a warning shot!" she argues playfully, placing her hands on her hips and abandoning the taciturn elite ranger pose for something more her. "but since you think it's too easy — here! cotton candy, give him one hundred percent!"

[break][break] "woah! woah!"

[break][break] he leaps into the air, just barely avoiding the attack.

[break][break] his heart in his throat, it's only at his wydeer's CALM MIND settling over him like a soothing balm is he able to get his senses straight.

[break][break] amber eyes flit towards the sky to follow the sight of the dragon and her billowed wings. a shadow casts over him and his muscles tense, waiting for the next move. one. he tucks in his arms and makes a dodge-roll to the side, just as one of the rings of fire leap towards him. two. the second his feet hit the grass he leaps up again, just barely dodging the second. however it's the third that nearly gets him, his eyes widening in front of him as the ring of dragon pulse nearly meets him head on.

[break][break] at least jellybean has better senses than him, throwing up a SAFEGUARD just in time. though the flames meet the invisible barrier, the collision is enough to throw him back into the burning grass. flames lick the air around him, just before his togekiss releases a LIFEDEW onto the grass.

[break][break] his grin is sheepish as it looks at her. "thanks girl."

[break][break] he leans up, propping himself on his elbows.

[break][break] "so? what d'ya think?"

annalise isn't so sure the higher ups will be happy with this training exercise. with a hand hovering near her mouth, she watches ollie morales narrowly dodge each dragon pulse, heart rapping against ribs like hard knocks on a door. the third one comes too quick. [break][break]eyes widening, she yelps out "ollie — !" before a shimmering light screen expands between him and the oncoming fireball.

annalise rushes over to check on him, face dark with concern. cotton candy lands with a squawk of alarm, strutting after her trainer to see the damage herself. at closer glance, he's propped up on his elbows, nonchalant like he wasn't one attack away from the nearest hospital's burn unit.

a laugh rises in her throat as he asks for her assessment, squeezed up and out of her mouth by the relief that he's okay. [break][break]"i think — "[break][break]
she holds a hand out to help him up. it's more of a gesture than anything; there's no way she can leverage him to his feet on her own.

" — you did perf. welcome to the rangers, ollie!" a laugh chimes, too amused by the silliness to swallow it down.
