Another day, another fire. Such was life for Malik. Standing outside a burning house next to two scantly clad elders. Arms on his waist watching as the fire slowly enveloped the full building itself. "So... You guys are telling me a candle did all of that? You two ought know how dangerous it is to fall asleep when candles are. AND I KNOW YOU DIDN'T MEAN TO SLEEP! But you two fell asleep." Slowly looking around to see if the fire would pose any danger for any other buildings around. It was a very awkward situation and Malik really didn't want to give them any form of eye contact. From the initial look the fire seemed to be self contained and there was nothing to rush or worry about which was good because Malik was currently off-duty so they had to await for his fellow comrades from the fire department to come. "Shucks! Here I thought I was going to have a slow night filled with jogging." Malik would say scratching the back of his head.[break][break]

Feeling a small tap on his shoulder Malik would look down towards the very experienced couple. "Sir. Our pokemon are still in there." With a pained voice the elderly male would say. Malik's expression fully changing into a serious one. "WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL ME THIS MISTER JHONSON! WHAT THE HELL!" Throwing his pokeballs in front of him as a reaction. "Chomper! Get me wet and control the fire as much as possible." with a small nod and some gurgling noises Malik's Croconaw would instantly wet his owner. "Blaze. You're coming with me and we're gonna save those pokemon. Spark, Flare... You stay with the elderly couple and keep them company." Malik and his Arcanine were ready to sprint into the burning fire. "God I just hope it's not a snorlax. please please"[break][break]

surely that must be against some sort of fireman protocol? matias doesn't know. in fact, he'd always thought the rangers handled fires for whatever reason. guess he learns something new every day.[break][break]

"how many pokemon are in there?"[break][break]

matias calls out his blastoise who proceeds to drench him, its cannons pouring water (or at least he hopes it's water).[break][break]

"we have two skitty, one poochyena, and one purrloin."[break][break]

"right. thanks, sir," matias forgot his name, but either way, he turns to his partner, "you ready?"

It seems like Malik found himself some company for this dire and grim mission that had just happened to occur while he was strolling in a brand new place he had never been to, crazy world. "I took a vow to help when I can and it seems like no else was joining me till you appeared." He was about to break rules but he wasn't about to break his own vow to protect, not ever since the incident.[break][break]

He was very relieved that someone else was joining him for this though, it would be real awkward if he went in there to help pokemon and ended up need rescuing himself. "I really should have thought about asking that..." He had been way to focused on what to do that he had forgotten what to do for a second there. He was prepared and hyped up to the max. [break][break]

I thank you for the great help, stranger. So let's make sure to both leave alive and get something cold after, yeah?" Malik would say with a smile on his face before running into the roaring inferno that had become the house, his Arcanine closely following behind both doing what their training had taught them. Thanks to the stranger he knew how many targets and what the targets were. Entering the building him and Arcanine would split up and start searching for any of the pokemon that had been mentioned by the owners.[break][break]

and with that, matias is quick to follow after into the roaring inferno of a house, placed under a timer at the threat of the lives of four pokemon.[break][break]

inside, they split up. arcanine in one direction, malik and matias in another. the first room they stop in is the living room.[break][break]

Damn. Here he thought he would have gotten free drinks instead of paying for them, guess that was karma for being to offer the idea in the first place. The saddest part wasn't even the fire right now for Malik since he was sure they would find the missing pokemon, it was the fact that he had no money on him because he was just out jogging. [break][break]

Entering the hellish landscape that was known as the living room. As of yet the only thing he could were two burning animal beds in the corner but no pokemon yet, he also couldn't hear anything pokemon related just yet either. "Nothing to be found here!" He would respond to his rescue partner. Hoping that his fire pupper was having more luck.[break][break]

"We should move on!" Malik would suggest while giving one final scan at the living room just to make they weren't missing anything.[break][break]

after a final scan of the living room, matias nods, agreeing to move on as there's nothing left for them there but burning furniture.[break][break]

the flames grow stronger and stronger with each passing second. they come back out to the hallway, meeting stairs that lead upstairs.[break][break]

"shit."[break][break]

a pokeball bursts open and it's immediately that his ralts' TRACE activates. it scans the area around them and the house before pointing up the stairs.[break][break]

"upstairs!"

Nothing! Nothing! Nothing! The living room had been a bust, the time was starting to get tight and they had to move fast. This had been a very unfortunate event, from before entering Malik could tell the fire was not spreading but it was still very fierce meaning the house had very good isolation keeping all the heat inside and making it harder for the fire to move to the outside. Damn those good builders, if only they had done a shabby job this place wouldn't be this hot.[break][break]

As he two exited the living room and were met by the hallway that lead to the stairs Malik could see his Arcanine coming back to him with a unconscious Poochyena in it's mouth. Malik would point towards the exit and Arcanine would quickly start moving the pupper outside. "We'll be going upstairs, Blaze!" He would tell the dog, just making sure they had the extra help to carry the other pokemon from upstairs.[break][break]

"Let's Finish this!" He would say with confidence looking towards his part in rescue. Starting to rush towards the upstairs where the Ralts had signaled to them.[break][break]

well, that's one pokemon down. matias watches the arcanine carry the poochyena out to safety, reuniting it with its owners.[break][break]

"good job, blaze!"[break][break]

three more to go. no time to waste.[break][break]

matias follows up the stairs only to find three different rooms. the fire blocks one of the entrances but the two remain open. naturally, he picks whatever one malik doesn't pick.[break][break]

"come on, ralts."[break][break]

he scoops up his ralts and enters the room. its TRACE pings and almost immediately it points to under the bed.[break][break]

"shit."[break][break]

quick to approach, matias reaches under the bed, not minding whatever scratches may come his way, and grabs something furry to pull it out.[break][break]

"gotcha."

Now that Arcanine had found one of the lost pokemon everything felt a little more light, a little more hopeful, as if the air had lifted a bit, spirits were once again higher and Malik felt unstoppable. Going up the stairs him and the other brave soul would be met with three different rooms, two of them open and the last one blocked off by fire. Malik had left his water pokemon outside trying to keep the fires from going out of control into other buildings so that one was a no go for him. [break][break]

Watching Matias pick a room and vanish into the fire, Malik would then pick the room on the opposite side that was open, leaving the flame locked door for both of them to deal with after. Looking around everywhere. Under the bed, inside the wardrobe, in a bathroom but that room was sadly empty of life, nothing to be found. "Fuck fuck fuck!" Malik would shout out inhaling smoke as a consequence, making him cough up. He had to keep going. Giving one last look before returning to the corridor where he was met withe the final door. [break][break]

"One room left!" He would shout to the stranger who looked like and sounded like had gotten lucky and had found one of the pokemon. Only two to go and one room left to check. Before jumping straight into the fire beyond Malik would take one last look to see if his partner had a better idea, he prayed to Arceus his partner had a better idea.

he hands the quivering purrloin to his ralts who simply TELEPORTS them back out to safety, leaving matias as he turns to join malik at the last room.[break][break]

together, they step into the flames of the last room. the water on his skin's evaporated off by now but the heat doesn't stop him from searching.[break][break]

"under the bed!"[break][break]

hands grip at the frame of the bed to lift it up, holding it in place to allow malik the chance to grab the two skitties.

Malik wanted to ask if everything had gone okay in the other room but there was no time for chit chat right now. It was make it or break at this time and they had to make they were making it out along with the two missing pokemon who had to be in the final room blocked off by what was pretty a door of fire.[break][break]

But at the least it looked like his partner was also ready to put himself in the line of fire. It was a good thing to say. The world still had hope and nice people in it after all. "Ready. Let's go!" Malik was ready to jump in there with Matias.[break][break]
Jumping through the fire along, things getting a little toasty so it was about time they wrapped this up and saved the two little ones. "Right!" Malik would say reaching under the now raised up bed, ready to take all the damage the two likely very scared Skitties. Reaching in there and dragging the two furballs, he would instantly start moving out towards the exit. "Go go go!" The man was sprinting down towards the exit like the wind. [break][break]

Once outside he would leave the two Skitties with their owners and bend down with his arms on his legs trying to fully catch his breath back. "All good. All good."[break][break]

the flames of this mere house are nothing compared to the ones that scorched his being and body during the incident with Melody Miro. still, they fucking hurt, and he's glad his partner's able to reach the two skitties.[break][break]

"TCH."[break][break]

the bed slams back into the ground as matias turns and runs, making his departure as well.[break][break]

fresh air hits him the moment he steps back outside. he gasps, coughing as he attempts to regain his breath as well.[break][break]

behind them, the house starts to collapse in on itself.[break][break]

"that was..." he looks up, grinning at his partner, "...fun."

As if Malik had entered a freezer, the winds from the outside felt like the chilling touch of death but at this moment he welcomed it. He was sure the weather outside was just normal but any wind his body received right now felt like ice, his lungs trying to catch up with everything that had just transpired. Inside his mind he could already hear his boss shouting at him in anger but that was just a normal day to day thing and he doubt anything would change that.[break][break]

Looking up while still trying to catch his breath and seeing everyone around him making a mental check to see if no one was missing which thankfully everyone was counted for. Hearing the voice of his new found partner did also give him own mind some ease. "Fun is one way to describe that." He'd say looking at the house just collapse on itself. "Oh... Right on time is another way to describe it." He'd say trying to chuckle but only coughing more as a result. [break][break]

Clearing his throat he'd look towards Matias and offer him a hand. "The name is Malik by the way and I guess I owe you a cold one?" A smile as bright as the fire sat on on his face but in truth he was just trying not to cough too much again, it was a struggle to say the least.[break][break]
