Elinor blushed at the compliments given to her team. It felt nice to get the approval of someone higher up on the trainer ladder. Still, she knew that there was a long way to go before she would be up there.

The blush faded as their conversation moved on to something more serious. She felt a pang of sadness as Diancie shook her head. She couldn’t help but wonder if perhaps she had asked something which would’ve been better left untouched.

Matias’s words struck true. Maybe Diancie didn’t want to or maybe it just hadn’t found the right person. Having completely forgotten that little detail until now. Diancie was a living breathing creature with thoughts and opinions of its own.

She thought for a moment that she should back off and not press the issue but at the same time. As an Anderson, she had to at least try. Her attention stayed upon Diancie as she spoke, her face suddenly looking very formal as the words left her. “Whatever your reasons may be, Diancie. If you do decide to pick an Avatar, know that I would be honored to at least be in consideration.” She paused, changing her very formal air to one of jesting as her smile grew wider. “We would make a matching pair, after all.” Elinor gestured for her bright pink hair which seemed to match the jewels which the Legendary adorned itself with.

diancie softly giggles before reaching up to pluck a gem off her head. it's small, pink, and translucent. she offers it to elinor before floating back and disappearing behind the corners of the fake museum.[break][break]

While trying to appeal to Diancie’s sense of fashion might not have been the best plan. It did seem to work somewhat, even if Matias tried to foil it.

Elinor gently took the pink translucent gem that Diancie offered her. A grateful “Thank you.” Escaped her as she smiled back at the Legendary Pokémon before it disappeared once more.

“I did!” Elinor stated, enthusiasm somewhat controlled. she looked thoughtfully at the gem. She wondered if this was a sign or merely something Diancie did to all those whom she liked? She would have to read up on this. Though it was then that it struck her. Matias had much more experience with Diancie, perhaps he would know.

“Matias, do you know if Diancie often gives gems to people?” She held the Gem securely in her hand, clearly not wanting to accidentally part with it.

it's not really a lie as those he's brought to meet diancie did not leave with a gem. at least not one that had been gifted by diancie. but for all he knows, diancie could be gifting it to others.[break][break]

It pleased Elinor to hear that Diancie simply give its gems to everyone, it made her feel somewhat special. Though she let the matter rest there.

“Any takeaways…” Elinor repeated thoughtfully. “Well, for starters, as a trainer I still have very far to go. I get the feeling that this battle would’ve been very different if Diancie had fought back with the intention of doing us harm.”

“But even if that was the case, I don’t think that our chance of winning would be zero. Diancie did seem to prefer range, so perhaps if we could keep fighting in close range then maybe...” She paused. “But that is a big IF and MAYBE..” She stopped herself from rambling on, finally letting Matias get a word in.

“Thank you,” Elinor replied. Hints of pride were easy to find in her smile. Though she wasn’t applying the pride to herself, she knew very well that she hadn’t done much, no it was her Pokémon who were the receivers.

She knew she would have to treat them nicely for their performance today. Perhaps she would grant them their favorite food, perhaps even a few days of relaxation.

“I know Diancie is probably too tired right now. But at some point. I would like to see how you would fare against it.” Elinor commented. Perhaps he had some tricks she could steal from such an exhibition match, perhaps not. Either way, that was for her future self to be concerned with.
