The inevitability of Malik joining in one of the earth shattering and timeline changing events that seemed to pop up more often that he hoped they would was always high. Maybe that had been one of the more subconscious reasons on why he had never pursued anything bigger for his life. All of that might be on the brink of changing. Perhaps all that Malik needed was someone to give him a little push to leave and go live.[break][break]

"Maybe I'm accepting it only duee to the booze too but I still like the idea. We have a deal!" Malik would reach towards Matias with his mug so they could toast their newly formed deal. It felt right at the moment to be happy and that was what Malik would do. The one thing he had always done in his life. Be happy. [break][break]

"Next week sounds perfect! That way my superior won't skin me alive for just up and leaving to become a trainer heh." Noah would laugh but but quickly realize the truth in his own joke, his boss would beat the shit out of him if he left without even given a small notice.[break][break]

Malik would get increasingly more excited about the possibilities of his future but this time it felt different, he felt calm, it was the same kind of excitement that someone would have when they achieved something or when they had just completed a long and hard boss fight in a video game. The sense of completion of something inside of him. "That would likely help. Almost like a recommendation letter, They owe some off days but you asking would definitely help for sure."[break][break]

Ok. Ok. Ok. He didn't know about the whole full time thing, just like Matias had said if he ends up liking it, it could turn out to be a full time thing. He did enjoy the helping people and fighting fires, it was what he had become good at, it had become his own piece of heaven in a weird way. Sure it had become a day to day thing but it was his comfort spot that he could always come back to. "I'm sure there will come a time for that choice but right now I think I'm done making life changing choices. How about another round? Or will tomorrow be too busy for that?" Malik would ask fully knowing he was talking to a important individual that could be busy and there was no way he would be offended if they stopped there.[break][break]

Perfect. Now it would be a sure thing that Malik would be able to get free time to do what he wanted, a firefighter captain wouldn't go against one of the elite four, would that even be considered going against a superior? Malik really did not know the answer to that. In a general sense he just didn't know much about how the subsidiaries of the Rangers worked. [break][break]

"Awwwww hell yeah! We're going all out then!" Thankfully Malik was actually of tomorrow so this was the perfect opportunity nonetheless it was time to get their drink on! Malik would also signal the bartender along with Matias. "Çan we get some shots along with those too!?" Malik would loudly and happily say. It wasn't everyday he had the chance to drink like this with someone new.[break][break]

"Sooooo when the times are peaceful and no one is challenging you guys... What do you all do?" He meant him and the rest of the elite four, he was truly curious to know what they did around, it could be a good incentive for Malik to try and climb up the ranks too, breaks always seemed like a good thing.[break][break]

matias doesn't have the luxury of having the next day off but he has no problems handling his alcohol and the aftermath that usually follows the next day. it comes with age and experience, though the former will eventually be a double-edged sword.[break][break]

with another round of drinks and shots ordered, matias settles into the comfort of the seat by the bar, more than happy to share with malik.[break][break]

"we all have different roles outside of being an elite four. kyle lopez is a cop in slateport, for example."[break][break]

matias could never see himself as a cop. a detective, maybe, but only because he'd enjoy the freedom it'd give him.[break][break]

"i lead a squad in hoenn's military, but when i'm not doing that i'm traveling the region looking to educate and train the masses on how to defend themselves."[break][break]

that, and all the events he attends to boost his publicity which is important as his manager luka chêne says.

First taking the shot before going back to his cider as if it was a fresh start. Malik had learned to hold his drinking along with the other firefighters since he is the youngest but also newest member. The only problem was how he felt the next morning, he loved mixing drinks so on the next day it was as if his whole brain had been mixed along with the drinks. "AaaaH!" Malik would say before taking another big gulp of his drink. "Oh that's wicked! I could still keep my role as a firefighter without a problem then... I never wanted to to fully quit." Bumping Matias with his elbow and speaking at alower tone in a jokingly way. "I wouldn't be able to cope without the free bars you know." The barman giving him the biggest stink eye. Malik and the boys were only allowed to drink here for free because about a year ago they ended up saving the bar from an electrical fire. [break][break]

He would listen to Matias as he explained a little more of what he actually did outside the Elite Four and now it was all making sense in his head, having someone with such special training in a high standing would be extremely useful and from the sound of it a lot of them were like that. He was still curious about some details since it might be of importance to him. "So when you say training to defend themselves do you mean personal defense or just with pokemon? Cuz it sounds bad ass if you can teach some hand to hand too!" Malik would say with an excited face. Sure he had a small amount of hand to hand but it was very specific situations.[break][break]

Looking back at his own training a few years ago, the whole fire station got a one day training by rangers but it was the most bare bones and simple training for combat that someone could ever receive in case of very specific situations, Noah assumed it was in case someone was crazed enough to straight out start burning down buildings and they had to stop the person, as he though a very rare and specific situation. They weren't really called for violent happenings, specially in this peaceful town mostly comprised of old geezers.[break][break]

"We received very minimal training at the force. But I'm assuming if I ever faced someone with 2 days of training my ass would be on the floor faster than lightning" It sounded really cool if a trainer and pokemon could battle in pure sync instead of having the pokemon do all the bloody work and if Malik could learn that he would be very excited to. [break][break]

Malik would only laugh at Matias' response and the tsk. "I can only guess it's because we're normally a peaceful town and rarely a violent town with all the old people around, I guess the Rangers and Officers have that part all on lock down. You know the classic rivalry between us in the fire force and the officers... We can't go around stealing all the thunder now. " Malik would take another cold an refreshing sip.[break][break]

He would be happy and excited if Matias did add that to their agenda. Malik himself would never be one to back down from a fight, he knew he was already fit enough, his work made sure of that but he just knew that anyone with experience could lay him flat on ass in a matter of seconds. "Oh for real!? I'll happily take those lessons!" He would say as excited a kid first leaning how to ride a bike.[break][break]
