"Good afternoon, Farmer Roach." Paxton greeted, announcing his presence to the stranger. He's dressed down in ripped jeans and hiking boots, a simple t shirt and glasses to protect his eyes form stray branched and thorns. But the most important part of the whole ensemble is the backpack behind him, and the opened beer can in his right hand. [break][break]

It's amazing weather for flying, and a good time as any to check up on his garden and his little secret base. He's just not expecting people. Not this far off the beaten path. He pushed his sunglasses up onto his head, eyes moving down to whatever Roach and his Cubone were talking about. "Oh...you too huh? Figures I'd find more of 'em." he said as he looked over the seedling. From this distance it looked similar to his own. So that was probably a good sign right? [break][break]

"Name's Paxton. I got a garden around here too." he said, finally introducing himself.

”the hell?”

roach turned, startled, but his shoulders never jumped, for the man possessed sloth-like reflexes—but he made vulnerable look cool, perfectly at ease.

”howdy.”

this guy also had a gracidea garden in the area. why here, though? there had to have been something special about the petalburg woods. whatever it was, maybe it was why Katherine Fairburne had been wandering around that day. maybe it had something to do with giratina?

what could giratina want with flowers?

”that right? well, good t’meetchya paxton. i’m roach.”

he smiled, a little lopsided.

”where’s yer’s at?”

Paxton nodded in a general direction. "Through some thorn bushes thataataway." he explained. "Sorry to interrupt. I don't see that many out this far off. Thicket gets pretty bad and all." he explained before he took another sip of his beer.

"Never gardened something this finnicky. I just take care of common house plants." he added, turning the conversation back to the plants. "How long have you been taking care of it?" he took a moment before waving at the little Cubone before looking back at the stranger. At least...he seemed cool. Much like Felix Gallagher , while he was a little alarmed to see them so closed to his own garden they seemed cool.

”huh.” paxton’s vocabulary caused an amused hop of his brow, and he looked in the direction he nodded to.

”ah, i’m outdoorsy.”

roach had never taken care of houseplants. in fact, he’d never taken care of any plants before, until this flower.

the cubone waved back, eyes looking friendly beneath its mother’s skull.

”ohhh, couple weeks, i think.” he couldn’t remember exactly. with two businesses, now, he had plenty of other things to keep track of on his schedule, and he’d drank since then. ”what about you? yer’s bloom yet?”

"Makes sense." Paxton replied with a snort. Had to be to be out here, he thought. Teal eyes drop to the Cubone. Gods, it looked so cute. Young still. Paxton nodded along, before shaking his head and sighing. "I think it's been three-ish for me and still nothing." he explained with a small shrug. [break][break]

"It's not dead at least but...I thought it'd bloom sooner." he added. The strange plant was kind of hardy at least, and also not if it needed to be planted in a specific place. Hopefully it'd bloom though. He wanted to see the fruits of his labor now. "It's like taking care of a bonsai, but I keep looking at a stuck and I don't have leaves to preen." he explained.

”well, damn. least it ain’t dead, i guess.”

if it had to be boring and slow, at least it was resilient, because he wasn’t willing to sit there and baby it all day. he was businessman, after all.

”huh. i don’t know jack about no bonsais er preenin’ leaves, but i know i sure as hell ain’t patient enough fer this shit. s’like watchin’ paint dry.”

his hands went up to settle on his hips, eyes returning to his blossomless plant again.

"True." He'd been worried the stagnancy was a sign that the plant was dying but...it seemed ok. He didn't think it was bad enough to unearth the plant and inspect the roots. Not yet anyway. [break][break]

"Yeah. I don't know much about gardening, or this plant either." he shrugged. Maybe he should try looking it up. But hadn't it been mentioned this thing bloomed rarely. "I wonder if it's like a cactus thing? Just takes a really long time to bloom." he added with a shrug. [break][break]

"I started bringing out beer. Made the wait easier." he said. "Want some?" he added with a grin.
