As the second round was called, Thomas, from the side, would give his opponent a respectful bow. Ripper, in turn, would give the Blaziken a respectful gesture.

Once the fight was on, the Scizor launched a quick jab at the Blaziken.

Helios struts onto the field, warmed up from his first fight and already itching for another. Traipsing behind him is Luka, holding a water bottle and gripping a sweat towel that her Pokemon had refused earlier. She looks more like a groupie than a trainer, but acknowledges Thomas' bow and returns it with one of her own.[break][break]

"Good luck!" she chirps from across the field. "You can do it, Helios!"[break][break]

The Blaziken grants his opponent a deep nod before shifting into his stance, feet firmly planted and fists raise. The battle begins immediately, quick jabs aimed with deadly precision. Helios does his best to counter them and fight back, striking out with a low sweep of his leg to try and knock his opponent off balance.[break][break]

The name Helios rang a bell. For both the trainer, and the Scizor.

The Scizor would recognize the old Blaziken, an ally of his during his master's time in the International Police. Still, he would not relent.

Ripper would shift his stance, in order to maintain his balance, before throwing more punches.

Recognition sparks in Helios as well. Helios' eyes flash, electric blue almost piercing as he seizes up Ripper for the firs time in years.[break][break]

There are no punches spared for old comrades, and Helios wouldn't have it any other way. Going toe to toe with an opponent who can match his strength gives him a rush he hasn't felt in quite some time.[break][break]

Heavy blows find purchase and the Blaziken slides back, but does not falter. Instead he shifts his weight into a controlled attack, turning his opponent's strength against him. A build-up of kinetic energy releases in a powerful kick, revenge for every prior hit.[break][break]

As the Blaziken attempts to deliver a kick in Revenge, the Scizor attempts to meet the attempt with a Brutal Swing, using his weight and strength in an attempt to overwhelm the Blaziken.

The clash between two titans is very nearly a draw, but Ripper maintains the upper hand. Helios clenches his beak in frustration, talons curling at his sides. He's been far too idle for far too long- he can feel it in iron-clad bones.[break][break]

No matter. If there's one thing his years of training have taught him, it's resilience and perseverance above all else. Helios does not falter, and comes back swinging with his fists wreathed in flame, the crackling determination in his eyes matching that which flares about his wrists.

Ripper comes back swinging. Helios is prepared for retaliation, but the resulting blows still manage to knock him back. He grunts, talons digging into the arena dirt in an attempt to stay upright.[break][break]Using the scuffed ground as a springboard, the Blaziken launches himself up into the air, only to come crashing back down with a high jump kick.

The kick lands. An arial assault kickstarts the beginning of a flurry of attacks. Helios takes the opportunity presented by a successful, powerful blow to try and completely overwhelm his opponenent. Rapid-fire punches and powerful kicks rain down on the Scizor, an endless barrage of attacks.[break][break]

Luka watches nervously from the sidelines. This is different from his last battle; more evenly matched. She can tell her father's Pokemon is enjoying himself and though she loves that for him, she can't help worry that he'll overexert himself.

Ripper's attempt to sidestep the attack is off. The Scizor is hit by the high jump kick. All the Scizor can do is try to defend himself from the rain of blows.

In an act that could only be described as a Hail Mary, Ripper would throw a barrage of Bullet Punches at his opponent.
