Briefly tired of the crowds and chaos closer to the source of the fireworks, Orchid had decided to calm it down, heading to the beach for a hint of alone-time. She was sure she’d be getting enough crowds at her next performance, or the next tie she decided to do a meet-and-greet, or… whatever drew the crowds next. She’s got her cover-up back on now, walking with it held wrapped tightly around her — she forgot how breezy beaches could be.[break][break]



She’s walking with Quartz, her little dyed-pink vulpix leaving tiny pawprints in the sand. It’s cute, and Orchid is glad the small creature hadn’t elected to be carried across the beach. She reaches down to pat, crouching and giving Quartz a few pets on her tiny head. Her thoughts drift, then, and she finds herself staring off into space.[break][break]



She’s startled out of it by movement, not too far from her. Upon further inspection, it’s a man, and a few Pokemon, looking to her like a Joltik and… Shieldon? She isn’t quite sure, she had never felt the need to learn much about rock Pokemon. [break][break]



Standing, she isn’t sure whether to approach or leave the man to his space. They seem to be he only two very closeby, and Orchid is more than capable of enjoying her time alone, but she also isn’t exactly used to being so close to someone and not speaking with them, or receiving some form of attention. After all, she’s Orchid Bellerose.[break][break]



She decides to stay put, watch what the man decide. In this moment, she wishes she had her hoodie — she had been more than happy to be recognized during the festivities, it went perfectly with her image. But did she really want to deal with being seen taking a stroll by herself while a party went on not too far from here? That hardly seemed like her, or at least the version of herself she gave to the world. [break][break]

…what the hell was that sound? [break][break]

Orchid looks down below her, seeing that the Shieldon had come closer to Quartz. Worriedly, she watches the scene before her, monitoring to make sure the two didn’t break out into a fight. [break][break]

Quartz is just staring at the Shieldon, luckily, so she didn’t seem like she’d attack or that anything would start. She seems to tilt her head, and Orchid is reassured enough that she can be distracted again. [break][break]

The man’s closer now, talking to her. Hm. [break][break]

“No, not bothering me,” she says lightly. They really weren’t — Quartz could probably use the socialization, Orchid knows. She hadn’t had much legitimate contact with others since the breakup with @jupiter . The downsides of being the Pokemon of someone who had to rush from interview to performance to interview, Orchid guesses. “Quartz isn’t the friendliest with strangers, but they seem fine.” [break][break]

Orchid pauses at the next question. She isn’t exactly cold, nor the warmest. Nothing that couldn’t be fixed by going home and sitting in her nice apartment under some blankets that night. “I’m fine, though I appreciate the advice.” She has no real desire to return to the crowds at the moment. Both the crowds that pervaded every other aspect of her life as well as the possibility of running into Jupiter turned her away from it. If she ended up regretting it and wanted a party, she could always throw one later on. [break][break]

“What are you doing this far away?” she asks, perhaps a bit suddenly. Orchid knows her own motivation, but she’d like to know which remain a mystery to her.
