it's nerve-wracking at first, but once he gets the words out, he finds that things flow as easy as water. he doesn't know why he was worried to begin with. thing have been always easy with willow; it was why they were friends.

[break][break] ollie has just said it, but when willow says it he can't help but let out an indignant - slightly comical - gasp. "hey, what's that supposed to mean?"

[break][break] he holds his faux anger for a moment, before devolving into chuckles.

[break][break] "but you're right, i am."

[break][break] the silence passes and since ollie has never excelled in silence, he seeks to fill it.

[break][break] "you two would get along great. my two favorite girls in the world — i can't imagine a better time." he smirks. "maybe when we get back, we can arrange a lunch or something. i know she'd love your pies."

willow chuckles at ollie's faux anger. she recognizes that lilt in his voice, can imagine the face he's making into the phone right as he says it. it makes her heart hurt all the more and a couple more tears slip down the sides of her cheeks. she brushes them away, shoving today's events back down in a box where they belong.

"you think so?" she asks. and genuinely, she's excited to meet PENELOPE LIVY . there's a certain feeling there, sure, of protectiveness. because she cares about ollie. because she doesn't want to see him hurt. but with the way he talks about her, all puppy-eyed, she can only imagine she's sweet as can be.

"'kay, then it's settled. just tell me her favorite and i'll make sure to make it."

she sniffles. "thanks, ols. for being here. for picking up."

[break][break] he's happy to know that willow atkins is not only willing to meet his girlfriend, but that there's a pie in store for them. maybe the discomfort he feels will go away once they've all met in person.

[break][break] his words are quickly cut off as the sound of a lock unclicks in the door and he hears a voice calling for him from the entryway. his girlfriend's home.

and her heart thump-thumps in her chest and she pulls in a tight breath, wanting to hear someone, anyone tell her that they love her. that she's not as alone as she feels. but then there's a sharp intake on the other side and suddenly ollie is rushing her off the phone.

her smile is false, but that's fine - he's not there to see it. "yeah! have a - have a good night, ollie." and then she hangs up, swallows.

and it all comes out like a flood. jealousy rips through her and anger squeezes her sides and sadness burns her eyes. no matter how much she cries, she can't seem to get the nasty wraiths to leave her alone. so she ends up somehow, miraculously, falling asleep in a swath of tissues, mouth pulled in a grimace, her last thoughts of the tattoos stretching across the knuckles of a man she'd never stopped loving.
