[break][break] as they walk through the quiet woods, the scenery makes jayden feel oddly contemplative. "how do you like it here?" it had never occurred to him to live somewhere so far away — far away from civilization, but also far away from rocket. he was aware that some rockets chose to live far away from the main bases on purpose, but it was never something that occurred to him.

[break][break] well, with the exception of necrozoma-related attacks or invasions. but they were working on that.

[break][break] before he can say more on the matter, however, the incessant grows louder — and louder still. sure enough, when they look towards the sound, the presence of a wasp's nest can be seen in the distance. at first, it seems to blend in perfectly with the rest of the wildlife, but the buzzing sound is unmistakable. like a low-burning hiss in the backdrop.

"we should take some specimens back for the scientists at the lab," he remarked. "the distortions might have a deeper effect on the bees that we realized. might be the reason for their aggression."

[break][break] jayden himself is only science-adjacent; it is his birth right, sure, but it's not like he spends much of his time engaging in it.

[break][break] "as for the rest - we can raze it to the ground." his head tilts as he turns towards his friend, a ghost of a smile on his lips. like a secret joke. "maybe give those rangers something to do."

[break][break] his chandelure materializes in front of them, the sight of bright-blue flames. heat licks the air as the lampe floats closer to Felix Gallagher's dragon. a ball of smog flows out in front of them, spreading out like a thin tablecloth.

[break][break] smoke them out of their hiding spots.

the hissing grows louder and when the smokescreen spreads out, it grows to a terrifying volume. a cacaphony of sound explodes from the forest as the aggravated COMBEE rea released from their prison. no queen in sight, he notes. a shame.

[break][break] no direction is needed from him.

[break][break] lampe has been on the sidelines for too long. she's bitter that jayden never released her during sootopolis, bitter that it's been too long since she's been in action. a flash-bang of light illuminates the space around them as her INFERNO consumes the furious bees, as they're choked up by the smog.

[break][break] a soft laugh. "perhaps you're right." there were plenty of things happening behind the scenes - but the civilians were still quiet in the afterwake of the darkest day. whether it was because they were fearful, or they'd moved away left a lot to be seen. plus, rocket was working diligently at increasing the security.

[break][break] "so when you meant quiet - you meant the work, not the atmosphere."

pokeballs are thrown in the air in the wake of the destruction and jayden walks over to gather them. it will be interesting to see what their results will reveal; how much did distortions effect, not only the surroundings in which they appeared, but the local wildlife?

[break][break] he wondered if Felix Gallagher could prepare a meal. he didn't seem like the housewife type; then again, you never knew.
