freya looks curiously at eva and mulls over her words. she had, in a sense, extended a certain amount of trust to her when she came to her with the scale. but even that had been for personal gain, a move made with planning and some prior concerns abated. she'd only trusted their companions on the journey as much as their aligned needs, but that isn't trust.

we sent it to the realm it almost died in. a brief flash of smugness flickers over her features as she thinks, no, dahlia, you and the rest of them did. not i.

"at the end of the day, they are still flesh and blood. they can bleed. they can be rend." her words echo those once spoken to her by FERNANDO SILPH. she steps closer and raises a hand, pressing it against the now-warm scales of the beast. it still slumbers on. her fingers curl.

"but if it comes to pass judgment, who are we to stand in its way?"

Eva’s lips curl into something akin to a frown as Dahlia speaks. She raises a fair point, but they could play the “what if” game all day.

“What if” they failed? Would they be punished just as Illeana was? “What if” Rayquaza decided to disappear back into the cosmos? In reality, that mattered little. They’d be back in the same boat they were in before they returned Rayqauza, “Only time will tell what it chooses to do,” and Eva didn’t plan on standing in its way. She’s painfully aware that her job here “ends” once the dragon is whole again.

“We didn’t send it there, Dahlia,” Eva had poured over the reports many times during her journey to the frozen world, “It chose to attack on its own accord, seeking the primal shard,” its lust for Primal Energy was likely not satiated. Like a wild pokemon, once it caught the scent of its prey, it would like chase after it again. Would Rayquaza see it that way? Or would The League forever be the enemy?

she stands with bated breath as the creature slumbers on, as its warmth pulses at her palm. there is a hunger in her eyes - that same hunger that pushed her to bend the knee to FERNANDO SILPH ; that same hunger that nearly ripped her apart when she met Katherine Fairburne in the flesh.

will you forgive them? she thinks. will i?

"vengeance is a malignant thing," she says and finally drops her hand. her tongue rolls, presses against teeth. the silvery scar on the side of her neck itches and it dawns on her that here - here in good company, with a doctor at her side, she could confide her warped history with fernando. but to admit her failings before the deity is impossible.
