As per usual, the Dagapult’s head is right over his, as if both in a protective manner and in an attempt to cling to him. Even its glowing tail wraps around Mars’ leg, and the banker can do no more than sigh and reach back to scratch Xanthos’ chest.

In response, the Dragapult moves its tail, going on to wag it as if that of a happy canine.

The Dragapult does follow closely. Perhaps a little too close. His head still remains right over Mars’ while appearing to swim through thin air, to the point that when a berry is thrown from a nearby tree, hitting one of Xanthos’ horns, it also results in him hitting his trainer.

The Dreepy that had been slumbering within said horn doesn’t seem to appreciate this much either. It hisses, discontent.

The culprit?
[break][break]
A snickering Greedent that stares at them. One that Xanthos narrows his eyes at. Mars does no more than click his tongue, and immediately, DRAGON DARTS deal with the annoyance.

After that, he goes back to jogging.

Up ahead, there’s a Jynx standing in the middle of the path. Mars wants nothing to do with it, but Xanthos whimpers when hearing the command. So do the Dreepy in the dragon’s horns. It’s three against one.

Thankfully, this particular Jynx does not, and it’s soon enough that it’s dealt with and he’s able to continue his jog. What will be their next interruption?

The rest of his jog goes uninterrupted, which given Mars’ track record and daily experiences with things like these, is like a damn miracle, especially considering the pokémon that accompanies him. Nothing against Xanthos, he’s Mars’ favourite dragon (which says a lot, given that he dislikes most dragons), but he can be a little–…

Xanthos wags his tail in excitement when Mars stops running and turns his attention to him. As a result, the dragon ends up accidentally smacking its trainer’s leg.

His tone is as stern as the stare he gives the dragon, and as result, both Xanthos and the Dreepy in his horns lower their heads as if saddened.
