The time is ripe for catching a new member of society within her web. Dusk falls, the Pokemon are all tired and ready to be caught. Her fishing rod is at its best, her energy at its highest, senses primed for even the slightest of movement. Her partners are on the watch as well, Argon is waiting in the shadows to watch her back for any predators, while Radon is prowling the surrounding wetlands on the lookout for any nests to raid. She's done her best to make herself absolutely invisible, layed prone in the tall grass and keeping her gaze firmly on the ocean. The only hint of her is the tip of her fishing rod and the barely visible glint of the line leading back to it, she's confident she can catch at least one productive member of society tonight. And if she can't, she can at the very least use someone as a whetstone to sharpen her tools for next time.

It was one of those cases. The ones that took him way, way out of his element. No higher ideal drove Michael Navidson to traverse the water routes on top of Kohryu, his Gyardos. It was a simple desire for a paycheck. Someone had requested his help in finding an item lost in the briny depths. A family had been on vacation near town and some old tiara had gone missing. It was his job to find the thing. Arceus, he needed a Growlithe already. Anything that could help him track. Instead, Kohryu cut a path through the water. The massive Gyarados, easily alpha level in size if not power, drew the attention of passing pokemon and people traveling the water lanes alike. He was getting something of a reputation as a reliable guy these days. Waving at passerby, he kept plodding his course.[break][break]

If he had to guess, the heiress who'd lost the tiara had gotten a little too drunk during her end of the world party and dropped it somewhere along the route. Likely it'd be in the sand on one of the islands, or maybe a greedy 'Mon picked it up and was running around with a new treasure. Either way, it wouldn't be the most difficult case Navidson Solutions had ever undertaken. Navy sipped on a drink, looking at his GPS. Not too far now and he'd be in the right area...[break][break]

Something caught his eye from a nearby island dotted with marshland. Was that...a fishing rod?

Xenon is a predator. She is silent. She is deadly. She can catch anyone and anything, all she needs is time, patience, and the right conditions.

[break][break]Conditions that are... not being met. Her eye twitches as she stares at the guy riding around on his GyArados like a total jerkass, scaring away every single Pokemon in the area and just generally being a nuisance doing whatever the void he wants! And normally she could respect that, it was every man's right to do as he pleases whenever he pleases, but right now he was interrupting what she wanted to do so he needed to KNOCK IT OFF!

[break][break]"HEY! KNOCK IT OFF ALREADY YOU JERK! CAN'T YOU SEE YOU'RE SCARING ALL THE POKEMON AWAY WITH YOUR STUPID GYARADOS!?" Suddenly a figure stands up from out of the tall grass behind the fishing rod, a figure wearing a very distinctive tiara on her helm as she shouted and angrily waved her fist at Navy. Accompanying her is a barely visible Gengar hiding in her shadow and peeking out at the Gyarados with a mischievous grin, while just off to the left a few meters away a rippling mass of purple glares at Navy for interrupting it's "hunt" time. It's really just taking a nap while it pretends to look in a hole for sleeping Pokemon.

It couldn't be another of them, could it? That strangest of creatures encountered in the wild? That thing, rarer than a legendary, too strange to die? The dreaded chuunibiyou. Well, she looked the part of a chuuni, but she hadn't started shouting about evil eyes or how she was a heroine destined to save the world. Maybe she was just an oddball. Hoenn had plenty of odd balls. Hell, it had more oddballs than it did normal people.[break][break]

Accompanying the girl's cries were the shrieks of a spearow swarm. They gawked, squawked, and guffawed in the skies above them. It was just one of those days, where he was going to get yelled at by everybody. Kohryu seemed content to chuckle, as much as a Gyarados could chuckle at anything. He didn't seem keen to do battle with anything, be it the girl's Pokemon or anything wild that decided to bother them.[break][break]

"Hey! I'll have you know there's a Pokemon right there!" Navy shouted as a Seel lazily floated by the girl. "I'm here for work, lady! This ain't some pleasure crui-" Navy blinked, his eyes finally focusing on what she had on her head. "'...hey, that aside, where'd ya get that tiara?" His tone suddenly shifted from that of an angry man shouting at someone in a traffic jam to downright pleasant. Kohryu noticed it too and seemed to stop shifting in the water. The great serpentine beast chewed at its lips to keep from bursting out laughing. He wanted to see how his master would get out of this one.

It is fortunate that Xenon is not a psychic, because if she could hear the rampant bullshit running through Navy's head right now there is no doubt she'd be trying to kick the ever loving shit out of him for even daring to think of her as a chuuni.

[break][break]Not to say she wasn't still annoyed right now at this moment. "No, you're scaring off all the "Civilized" Pokemon! I don't care about Seels and Spearows!" She shouts once more as Argon lazily swipes its tongue at the approaching Seel to scare it off back into the ocean. It doesn't take much, the thing looks like its barely hatched more than a week ago and its being confronted with one of the apex predators of the Pokemon world. But on the topic of her newfound treasure...

[break][break]"Oh, I see you've noticed my treasure~ Xenon crosses her arms under her bust and starts preening herself before Navy, straightening out her tiara to make herself look extra civilized. "Yeah, I found it on the shore a few hours ago, thought it looked nice so I polished it up for myself." Definitely a nice accessory to wear around, at least until she could find something better to wear on her head. "But why do you care so much huh? You want it for yourself?" It's not so much a question as it is a statement of fact, just from the minor tone shift and the way his eyes looked, she could already tell this is something he wanted. And she was making it very clear that she knew he wanted it, meaning he wasn't going to be allowed to just take it for free.

Civilized, eh? This girl sure had an interesting way of looking at the world. Kohryu's quiet, dignified chuckles continued. His Gyarados found this whole situation hilarious. If he fought half as well as he laughed, Navy reckoned he'd be champion of the League by now. The laughter of the Pokemon weren't going to get him anywhere. [break][break]

"The heck makes a Pokemon civilized or uncivilized? ...bah. That's not important right now! That tiara you're wearing, it belongs to someone. I was hired to track it down and return it to 'em. I can provide you with documents backing up what I'm sayin'. Wouldn't want you thinkin' I'm just yanking your chain." He prayed that the girl would see reason.[break][break]

As the two had their...conversation. Conversation was a generous term, but it's what Navy was going with, he noticed another Pokemon drifting by. A Skiploom. At least that's what he gathered from how it kept saying 'Loom, Looooom, Looom, Skiploooom'. Nah. Couldn't be a Skiploom. Navy surmised that Pokemon's name was Greg.[break][break]

Argon is chuckling along with Kohryu now at the antics of their partners, laughter is infectious it seems as Radon chitters in a way that could almost be considered laughter. Xenon sighs at the stupid question posed by Navy, holding her head in one hand and shaking it with disappointment. "Jeez, what kind of hick do you have to be to ask what makes something civilized or not? You live in society don't you, are you really telling me you can't determine what a civilized Pokemon looks like?"

[break][break]She looks to the Skiploom and frowns, there's no way that thing could be considered civilized. It's too soft, too green, too "present" as it drifts along the evening winds. "No, that thing isn't civilized in the slightest." She brushes it off with the same ease one brushes off a passing chill, moving back to the topic at hand. Her own little piece of civilization. "I don't really care about whatever documents you have saying whatever. I found this on the beach so that means it's mine. So unless you've got something of equal value you can trade me, I'm not handing jack over." Her fishing line tugs her attention away and she reels in a passing Barraskewda, but all she gives it is a passing glance before she pushes a button on her fishing rod and lets the thing swim away. And then after a brief reset of her hook, she casts the line back in and begins waiting for a proper member of society once more.

Man. Dealing with her sure felt difficult. Navy ran a hand through his hair, trying to think about how to handle this situation. If she didn’t have any Pokemon, he’d consider just running up, snatching it off of her head, and making a break for the open sky on Kohryu. That wasn’t likely to work as it stood. Too messy. Plus, a ranger might get the wrong idea if one happened along and they saw him snatching jewelry from a chick.[break][break]

“…can’t say I do! Bah! What a weird conversation…” Navy murmured the second part of that to himself. “Can’t say I’ve spotted any Porygon around here. Look. Tell ya what. How ‘bout this. You’re out here looking for some Pokemon, yeah? You promise to let me have the tiara, I’ll help you find some Pokemon. Anything ya want. I’m a detective, so I’m pretty good at finding things. Found you, who found the tiara. That’s gotta count for something.”[break][break]

“Civilized…civilized…like a Meowth or something? Or a houndoom?” He offered two ideas of what he thought she could mean by civilized. They seemed like reasonable guesses. Having grown up in Slateport, those were Pokemon he saw wandering around a lot.
