Even in the fog, he saw something...ominous coming forth from all the way by the Primal Point. And Gwyar Wledig going to meet them. A wretched feeling in his gut told him to go help. And the red head stepped up beside the man with Rockruff at the ready, probably good to get away from it anyways, even if it was protected by Stealth Rocks. The little rock pupper yipped and growled. With a quick pat on the little guy's head, he spoke a little. "Set up another Stealth Rock here. Rockruff will support you here...something...ominous I think is coming. Best to double team it."

The bad boy stood there with his little pupper. Not very intimidating...but with Stealth Rock there, combined with Roar, his little pupper was tougher than it looks. But still, something really didn't seem right to him. And his old boss always told him to listen to your gut.

Gwyar glanced over at Oliver Shrakes as he joined in besides him, nodding sharply at him. Not a man he knew personally, but one of whom he had read during their briefing for the mission. A Rockruff did not inspire confidence in many, but Gwyar was Raki's trainer; he knew a small pokemon could still pack plenty of tricks, and plenty of punch as well.

The blonde said nothing as the pool of shadows coalesced into a man, suckling in a sharp breath only once he was whole.

The most infamous man in Hoenn stood before them now, as dapper and haughty as any aristocrat he had ever met, the man's cape much mirroring Gwyar's own.

Except, you know, Gwyar's was infinitely classier and cooler, obviously.

The knight forced a 'confident' smile.

"Glass houses, Mr. Declan. You and your band of revolutionaries are being quite obtrusive yourselves." He said, ignoring the sweat dripping down the nape of his neck as his smile sharpened. "How about you take a long, sobering look at the giant boulder barreling towards us and cease this nonsense?"

Even as he spoke, it felt as if the shadows in the crags were stretching around the corner of his eyes, closing in on his back. What a terrifying person.

Gwyar liked to think he feared no man, but had it not been for the experiences he had endured in Hoenn until now, he realized he might've frozen in place while confronted by this one.

He couldn't help but note everything about the way the man moved, the way the shadows weaved and contorted in unnatural ways around him; they were deeper, and darker —much more so than their surroundings would've called for— and felt much more dangerous...

Looking into his cape was almost like regressing back to his early childhood, when darkness seemed to hide all the evils and dangers of the world.

It seemed his sass was not to the Rocket Boss' liking; a Nidoking stood between them and the terrifying man now.

"I humbly disagree." He said, suckling in another breath as the Nidoking's roar rattled his bones, reverberating inside his chest.

Even so, his own heartbeat rose over the beast's lungs in his ears, thundering. The chilling temperatures of the peak swiftly rose to sweltering heat as whipping wind battered at his cheeks, the sting of burning dots of sand touching against his skin brief as the sash around his chest loosened.

"You've gone through the trouble of coming all the way here!"

The sash suddenly snapped forth like a whip, swinging a shield before him as his sword came alight with a blinding glow.

"I insist we chat over some tea and handcuffs."

A King's Shield formed between them and the burning sand, the sweltering heat battering at the barrier as the shining brightness of Caladbolg cut through the obscuring sand.

Gywar didn't seem to mind. As the shadows retreated and formed into a man...Oliver showed a predatory grin. Oh, this was going to be fun. The most infamous man around. Of course, the red head had read about the leader of Team Rocket. Time to bring his A-game! Gywar started with comments. And with a snap of Ollie's fingers, Rockruff started to glow brownish. The ground would shake momentarily as a trail of spears of stone emerged from the ground to stab at the Nidoking. The 'King didn't wait around either, sending a blast of scorching sand at the duo.





Nevertheless, the Aegislash used King's Shield to protect them all. Oliver knew Aegislashes had terrifying offenses and defenses with its Stance Change, but even he wondered how well the steel type ghost handled a super effective hit like that. This was the boss of rocket, so he half wondered how strong he really was. Still, that Nidoking was a bit too close to the man for his liking. Once they were more seperated, and maybe even understood the Pokemon's movements more, he could go in and pound the guy. But the opportunity needed to present itself...

TLDR
Oliver waited for the fight to begin.
Rockruff uses Stone Edge on Nidoking.
All four of them are protected by King's Shield.

"Tch." Seemed like running his mouth wouldn't keep the rocket boss talking.

More importantly, King's shield wouldn't last forever, and he hated heat. Worse yet, a Nidoking was a terrible match up against Caladbolg; the King of the Savannah had almost universally perfect resistances against the shining sword's coverage options.

He hugged his coat tightly to his form as cracks' began to form around the King's shield barrier, legs spreading wide underneath him as he leaned his weight forward, lowering his sword to his side and breathing deeply.

"Mr. Shrakes." Gwyar said whispered lowly so only Oliver could hear, his mind flying through the briefing documents and landing on the mugshot of a red haired youth, his list of pokemon and their abilities listed on the papers. "When the barrier breaks— I implore you, use roar."

His grip on the Aegislash tightened.

"I won't waste the chance."

And with that promise, the cracks on the barrier grew, until—!!!

Crack—!

Several things happened all at once.

The Knight leapt forth into the burning sands with grit teeth as the barrier broke, his thick cloak burning away as he pointd Caladbolg at the Rocket Boss and it exploded like a flashbang into sharp, irresistible light, seeking to blind Walsh and his Nidoking both.

And the booming roar of Oliver's Rockruff parted the sea of scalding desert to blow the Nidoking out of the knight's way— while also pushing forth the knight like a tailwind, accelerating him forward until the wind and sand battering at his cheeks made them flap.

Accelerated before the Rocket boss hopefully while he was still reeling from the light, the Knight swung his shining sword at the man with mouth clamped shut and eyes wide open in focus.

tl;dr:
-King shield breaks. Gwyar's cloak is burnt to a crisp and he takes on some burns himself.
-Gwyar leapt forward into the sand while using (illuminate strengthed??? xD) Spotlight on Walsh at the same time Oliver used Roar on Nidoking! Hopefully it blinded them or something?
-The shockwave of the roar accelerate Gwyar towards Walsh, were he takes a swing at the Rocket Boss with the Illumina Aegislash.

Oliver considered switching to Inteleon, having the advantage then. But his partner had a different idea. With Stealth Rock set up, some free damage done to whoever the Boss is forced out next, but it seemed Gywar had a different idea. One that mirrored his earlier thoughts. Several things started to happen all at once, as the shield started to crack. When the time was right, he spoke the command. "Roar!" With a surprisingly loud and booming roar from his little pupper, it blew away the scorching earth and pushed his partner forward in a blinding light, hopefully blinding both Nidoking and the boss, plus forcing the 'King back to its pokeball. His partner went in for the kill.

Oliver wasn't the murderious type, but he could still appreciate the man's style. They could get along quite well, he felt. But how well will this plan work?

TLDR

Oliver listens to Gywar's plan.
He executes it, Rockruff using Roar at the perfect moment. Hopefully will force a switch into Stealth Rock
He watches Gwyar Wledig go forth to attack Boss declan walsh

Well... shit.

Gwyar couldn't help but be morbidly fascinated as Caladbolg cut through the rocket boss like he weren't even there. Literally.

Intangibility, really? Bloody avatars.

As Declan Walsh melted into his own shadow, Gwyar was left dealing with a Hypno instead, gritting his teeth as a dark wave flowed out from the psychic and into his sword. A moment later, he saw the metallic guard twist ever so slightly around the gem-eye, as if to frown.

Oh for fuck's sake.

The man released a sharp, shrill whistle as he sheathed the sword with one hand and threw a pokeball high in the air with the other.

"Dazzling Gleam!" Ordered the man before his Alcremie had even finished taking form, the sentient little cake's aromatic fragrance overflowing into the field as she spread out her arms and cried out, glittering lights blinking about her form briefly before a burning bright exploded out of her, cutting through the mist in sharp flashes.

Gwyar looked around wildly about, trying to find Walsh anywhere— and only seeing him over behind Oliver a moment later.

At the peak of Mt. Pyre, a shadowy figure had heard the whistle and seen the sharp flashes. It began its descent, flowing between the crags of the mountain with single minded purpose.

So far, it was a success. A Hypno came out onto the field, with Stealth Rock doing it's job. That was...until Gywar's sword went through the man, and he turned into mist. That was interesting...he'd read that Avatars had powers, but had yet to actually witness it. "Crunch." The little pupper darted across the field, and with dark fangs, attempted to Crunch onto the Psychic's leg...and toss it into the hillside. Little he may be, but he was a strong pupper, and hopefully between the Dazzling Gleam and the dark type attack, it would lay down some serious hurt on it. Problem was, where was the Rocket boss?

Gwyar's eyes landed him. No, behind him! Taking out his collapsable baton, Oliver spun to strike the Rocket Boss in the head. Even though he was a fit young man, this old coon had some tricks up his sleeve. The odd thought did come to his mind that maybe Walsh couldn't do that very often. He hoped that was the case.

TLDR

Sees Gwyar Wledig's attack fail. Also sees the switch and attack against Hypno.
Hypno gets hit by Stealth Rock, and uses Taunt.
Rockruff goes in for the Crunch.
Oliver spins on his heel to strike directly at declan walsh with his collapsable baton.

Cheeky bastard. But goes to show that experience counts for something. With his free hand, he returned his astonished pupper. Oliver doesn't let up, and continues the attack with his baton, even during the guy's taunting of Gwyar. Protection? If he wasn't in the middle of trying to push the older man back, the red head would have laughed. And knew what was coming. Oliver spun to the outside and away from the claws of Night Slash, and released his Inteleon. The gecko took aim at the Gliscor, and unleashed a Snipe Shot at it. Even though Oliver would have preferred it to use a different attack. Still, he took the few more steps to close the distance again and started to swing away. All the while, trying to trip up the old man. "Protection? That's funny old man. Hopefully by the end of this exchange, you'll be wary of this young pup as well."

TLDR

Oliver continues his assault on declan walsh and returns Rockruff in the process.
He avoids Gliscor, and sends out Inteleon, who uses Snipe Shot at it.
He quips with the big boss.

"Sir Police Deputy to you." The knight briefly cut the other with as most confidence as he could muster.

Sweat dripped down Gwyar's cheek as he caught his Alcremie in his hands, the league duo finding themselves at a stalemate with the Rocket Boss ever so briefly, the man's taunts hanging in the air and making the knight's jaw tighten.

Protecting Sootopolis wasn't his true imperative, but it wasn't like the rocket boss was wrong. No matter how many heads Gwyar knocked together every day, how many thugs he threw in the jail cells, it was all for naught in a city controlled by the criminals themselves. A growing, gnawing frustration for the blonde.

And then, once again by the power of his damned avatar powers, two pokemon were out without much warning, and a wave of toxic sludge had been whipped up against him, threatening to very well kill him as it barreled towards him, spilling down the Mt. Pyre's staircase.

He realized what this meant before his sword had even moved, but it was too late to stop Galatine.

She acted on her own judgement as she had been trained to, busying herself with his protection as she whipped up a King's shield between him and the toxic waste.

But essentially leaving Oliver on his own.

"Shrakes, do—" His words were cut short when the redhead proved to be one step ahead than perhaps either of the older men might've expected, artfully dodging the Gliscor's strike before throwing out his pokemon.

Gwyar's head swiftly switched gears; the youth was more capable of protecting himself than either of the two 'old men' had given him credit for—

Best to assist now!

"—not stop! Cake, DECORATE!" Shouted the knight as he swung his arm up once more, sending his cake pokemon high in the air.

She flung a plethora of cake toppings like bullets at Oliver's Intelleon, the little sugary stickers attaching to the gecko's back in cutesy, pretty patterns.

And somehow, immediately bolstering the water-type's special attack prowess by several measures.
