The detective took some small solace in one fact: Roland, his Gallade, could still accompany her. Roland was a good sort, always willing to play the part of a chivalrous knight even when Navy himself was predisposed to a more practical approach. She was in good hands, and it made him rest easy. Well...he'd be resting easy, were he not in the presence of a certain individual.[break][break] kyle lopez. Champion of the Pokemon League. Recognized as the greatest trainer in Hoenn. The guy that Navy one day wanted to replace. He'd made his little brother a promise, after all. One day, the Champ's belt would be his. Well...if the gym leaders could find time in their schedules for his challenge. Either way, the guy was here. This wasn't Navy's first encounter with him. Whenever Slateport PD needed him to consult in an official capacity (consulting detective - where had he heard that one before?), they sent Kyle. They were roughly the same age. According to reputation and Navy's perception of the man, they were both similar, even. Down to earth in a sea of weirdness.[break][break] At the moment, Navy was mostly focusing on Old Ironsides. His Skarmory was out and looking at one of Lopez's Pokemon - a Decidueye. One of Navy's favorites, that 'mon. He'd confessed to Gabe, once upon a time, that if he'd been able to afford a conventional start to his Pokemon journey, he probably would have picked Rowlett as his first Pokemon. Not that he could complain. Old Ironsides had served him well since the day he first got the middle-aged ornery bird.[break][break] "Think my bird here likes yours, Lopez." Navy commented with a chuckle. He leaned back in the chair, making himself cozy in Melody's chambers. Hopefully she'd be back soon so Lopez and her could talk about whatever. Then, he could punch out for the day and take the long flight back home. He was ready to get some ramen and hit the hay. Maybe that secretary of his hadn't burned his office down yet.
