Stealth. Sneakiness. These are Fern's goals as he creeps through the underbrush. At one time in his life, he was quite proficient in both. But he's not been the hellion child who used to break-and-enter as a source of entertainment for years now. As of late, though, it seems he might benefit from brushing up on his creeping. The flapple curled on his shoulder seems unbothered by the efforts.[break][break]

The back of a familiar blond head halts his train of thought, however.[break][break]

Despite the formality their first spontaneous meeting on Mt. Pyre was treated with, Fern doesn't necessarily hold himself to the same standard a second time around. A hand lifts, and a rapid wave follows. "Admin Beckett, hello!" So much for stealth, but hey - at least he used the formal address despite the casual friendliness. A short trot leads Fern right to the other man. "I see we are fated to keep meeting like this!" Honeycrisp, having drifted off of her perch, flutters along behind him to catch up.

a familiar voice pulls him away from his thoughts. he turns, returning the greeting with a small wave of his own.[break][break]

"hello, fern. it seems we are fated."[break][break]

bound to keep running into each other on the most random of routes. it was mount pyre last time. today, it's route one-one-five which is on the other side of the region.[break][break]

"are you out for a walk?"[break][break]

the question is an endorsement of fern's stealth skills whether the grunt realizes it or not. because theo hadn't heard the grunt approaching.

“It’s a funny coincidence, isn’t it?”[break][break]

He doesn’t usually get out this way, after all. Not this far.[break][break]

Fern perks at the question–it seems he went unnoticed, which is fabulous for him.[break][break]

A cute little flabebe floats in front of his face on a flower stem. He opens his hand for it to settle on his palm. “Yes! Out for a walk. Doing a bit of training.” Sort of. “The covert ops sort.” Not exactly. It’s not like he’s under cover, or climbing through the red lines of laser security.[break][break]

Rather than hold onto the flabebe, in a puff of breath, he sends it floating over to Theo. Moments later, a craniados crashes through the underbrush, the sparkling red dome of its head angled at Fern. Before it can reach him, though, his flapple blasts it back with DRAGON RUSH, and he follow this with a pokeball. Phew[break][break]

It will not do him any good on Mt. Pyre if he only falls back on his dragapult’s PHANTOM FORCE. “Used to be awful clever at hiding—now I’m rusty.”[break][break]

Too much playing the hiding in plain sight angle, or something or other.[break][break]

The iglybuff that hops into view is sort of a silly thing, but perhaps it will be useful later. Its face scrunches when his flapple spits an ACID SPRAY in a sprinkler fashion, but Fern sucks it into a pokeball before it gets too much of that acidic sizzle.

"i've always found the tactic of hiding in plain sight to be rather effective."[break][break]

surprisingly, he's still able to walk around in hoenn without much of an issue. occasionally, however, he will get recognized, more so now after his recent interview in sootopolis with hbs' own PENELOPE LIVY.[break][break]

luxray bounds over with a WILD CHARGE to slam into binacle and though it does not do much damage, it sets up the ROAR into a pokeball.[break][break]

He’s got all sorts of aliases for different occasions, but depending on how most scenarios shake out, Fern is content to just be. So long as his front isn’t uncovered. But he’s been long at the forgery business for ages now, it’s old hat. Long before he ever tied himself to Rocket.[break][break]

His flapple moves to face off against a nosy larvitar, dropping a GRAV APPLE from a fruit she plucks from a nearby tree. Fern aims a pokeball at it as it totters from the impact to its lil noggin.[break][break]

Oh now that’s interesting.[break][break]

Honeycrisp puffs a cloud of DRAGON BREATH at a passing aurorus to dissuade it from attempting to engage. It bears the scent of bitter apples. [break][break]

Fern’s attention, however, doesn’t drift from the admin. Though their nose does wrinkle a bit from the sharp smell.[break][break]

Excited? They’ve never seen Theo bat much of an eyelash at something, let alone be excitable.[break][break]

Still, it’s worth encouraging. So they huff with a definitive nod. “As you should!” They snap their fingers in thought. “Bring me back a rock as a souvenir! Meteor pebble.”
