Hideo felt his Alakazam’s hand in front of him, stopping the boy in his tracks. “Find her?” he asked, only to receive the answer from someone else: a man, telling him to go home.

Seems he’d (been) found (by) another Rocket. Which meant another battle. Hideo grumbled, readying himself for a fight - though not before having some words for the man. “And just let you steal-”

His indignant moralizing was interrupted by the distinct sound of his Alakazam preparing an attack, a pale pink light gathering within it before it emerged forth, the Dazzling Gleam aimed straight for the Liepard.

It was his first time taking this Pokemon for a battle - and his first time learning just what kind of battler it was. Seemed like it was gonna be one of his more independent ones.

At least he knew an Alakazam would be a smart fighter.

The beginning of his attack earned an attack from the opposing Liepard, the Sucker Punch striking hard and fast.

Yet the Alakazam’s attack would not be stopped, barely even budging as his Inner Focus ensuring his attack would continue on, the Dazzling Gleam firing forth at the Liepard.

But that wasn’t the only attack the Alakazam was going for; he used the bright light to obscure the spoons in his hands floating above him, a red light building within them before firing forth as a red bolt tinged with a dark light, aimed towards the Liepard. The Disable wouldn’t cause any direct harm, but it’d ensure his opponent couldn’t rush him like that again.

It would certainly help him, in more ways than one.

It’d all happened too quickly for Hideo to even process what was going on, let alone to give orders. He just took a small step back so he wouldn’t get caught in the crossfire of this fight.

The distance gave Hideo some time to appraise the situation: his Alakazam was battling a close-range Pokemon, and his Alakazam starting with a fairy-type move hinted that he was dealing with a Pokemon the attack was strong against. And it didn’t sound like a dragon-type.

But his opponent’s first attack also sounded like it hit his Alakazam hard, so it couldn’t be fighting-type. That could only leave him with a dark-type opponent. Not the best matchup for him here.

And it sounded like his opponent was coming in for another strike. He had to act fast. “Don’t let it hit you!” was his quick order, intending his Alakazam to take evasive maneuvers, even Teleporting out of the way if possible.

Instead, his Alakazam went for a more unconventional tactic: with spoon in hand, he charged forward, aiming straight for the Liepard with a Sucker Punch, aiming to interrupt its attack and jam the middle right into it.

The Sucker Punch caught Hideo off-guard just as much as everyone else. He knew his Alakazam didn’t know any rushdown moves like that, and he could immediately tell it wasn’t Psycho Cut - it wouldn’t have hurt his opponent otherwise.

But he had little time to think further on it, as his opponent went in for another attack. There was no interruption this time, the Alakazam bracing himself for the attack, the Night Slash striking true and pushing the Alakazam back.

The Alakazam dropped to one knee, clearly not doing well. Yet it wasn’t out of the fight yet. Hideo was more concerned about his Pokemon’s condition, already retrieving its Pokemon. Before he could raise it up, a hand clasped around his wrist, keeping it down. “H-hey!” Hideo protested, trying to free his hand - unsuccessfully.

His Alakazam looked up, its body building up a pale glow once more, aiming another Dazzling Gleam at the Liepard. It was going to make it hurt.

It was the first time any of his Pokemon had physically stopped him from recalling them, and it left Hideo confused. What was he supposed to do now? Let out another Pokemon and get it to pacify his Alakazam? But getting into a fight with his own Pokemon right now felt like a terrible idea - and apart from disobeying him, his Alakazam was handling the fight decently well.

And the last Rocket he’d fought had been more than willing to harm him if he let his guard down. There was no knowing if this guy would strike too.

With distance gained, the Alakazam was able to rise back up to its feet. Though the Torment ensured it couldn’t finish the fight with another Dazzling Gleam, it instead began to concentrate energy within itself, its body gradually Recovering from the damage it had received.

Hideo could recognize the sound of the Recover - at least there was a good chance his Alakazam wasn’t going to faint in this battle.
