He'd never traveled with a DITTO before. At least, not like this. They had their niche and were useful in particular situations, of course, though he never depend on one to exclusively protect him out in the wild. Nevertheless, he thought doing so would prove to be a nice challenge as he went out to explore ROUTE 114 and excavate some more.

His little partner managed to keep up, surprisingly. It certainly didn't crawl along at a snail's pace. In fact, it seemed eager to prove its usefulness to him. Occasionally, however, it would playfully TRANSFORM into a tree or pinecone.

A BAGON aggressively defends the bloodied scraps of something else's kill. It fires short streams of DRAGON BREATH at them to dissuade them from coming any closer. Remiel's Ditto, however, appears unafraid. Instead, it TRANSFORMS into the Bagon itself.

Rather than breath fire, however, the transformed Ditto DOUBLE-EDGES the Bagon. It is so startled and hurt by the ferocity and suddenness of the attack that it runs away, whimpering. A shame, really. The meat goes wasted.

They follow a path that runs alongside a wild river. Before long, a SHARPEDO launches out from the rushing WHITE water and snaps its jaws in the air. It didn't even notice the pair. Unfortunately, his Ditto got a little too excited and leapt into the river itself after a swift TRANSFORM.

Spooked by the strangely eyed Sharpedo look-a-like, however, the real one was quick to AQUA JET away.

He finds a near-perfect fossil of an ancient Dreepy-like creature... then a stupid DRILBUR tears it apart when it emerges. Remiel swiftly backs away, angered and surprised, while his Ditto assumes the creature's form cheerfully (TRANSFORM) and attempts to play with it.

The wild Drilbur, however, refuses with a MUD SLAP. Though aghast for a moment, however, his Ditto growls angrily and leaps forward with a CRUSH CLAW. The wild Drilbur tries to stagger back up again, but Remiel puts a stop to it with a swift toss of an empty ball. "That's enough of you, my long-nosed little fossil-wrecker..."
