“THAT’S GOOD,” are words of encouragement that only fernando can deliver in a such a deadpan way that it drains any semblance of positivity from her achievements. just his aura, the seeds of their conversation, saturates it with expectations rather than congratulations. a lackluster tone that burns a hole that no liquor could ever quite match. a killing touch that sobers yet propels the receiver to drown in another drink.

“if you need assistance with your budget, you can always send a request,” he finishes off with a modest sip.

“NOT QUITE,” he answers moments before his tongue clicks against the roof of his mouth. the taste of his drink still stains the halls of his speech. reeking of a heat that proves more nauseating than anything else. he waits for the poison to set in to numb the taste.

“i try to visit different places instead of favoring one in particular.” his eyes shift away from her. dotting across the background as they settle on unfamiliar faces, counting how many people are littered between tables and chairs.

“lets me get to know the city better. see what hoenn’s really like.”

And when she probed a little? SNAP! His jaw grows tight, every time, without fail. Maybe his Sazerac would help loosen his lips a bit more.

the same conviction that kills the rest of his SAZERAC. greedy gulps treat the cocktail no better than a dirty shot, downing it until the glass is completely see through. a transparency that penelope could only dream of fernando ever entertaining.

“a resolution worth carrying is one that would’ve been made when required. it should haven’t wait for some arbitrary date,” is as far as he’ll go. “but, not everyone has that type of will power; have you ever heard of the debt snowball?”

“i find motivation fleeting. in fact, motivation is what opened up your seat on the council,” he mentions with the faux pas of reminiscing. “it is discipline that makes sure that change is carried out.”
