THE BORDER IS A MOUNTAINOUS PURGATORY OF MUTED SEPIA SMOKE. By floating islands, translucent bridges soar through the realm toward the heavens. Tall stone spires jut out from the spiritual mist. In the sky, the wisps of spirits can be seen heading toward their final destination before the afterlife...[break][break]

Curiously, there are four broken seals embedded in four mountains. Though Adrian Malcolm and YVELTAL may have seen their location upon their unceremonious entry, the spirit realm has shifted since their last visit, rendering each broken seal far apart from each other.

[attr="class","thadmain"]Onyx doesn’t believe in ghosts. This has been well and truly established.

So the Border, as some have taken to calling it, doesn’t inspire any feelings in him beyond the general tedium of doing a job. Recon isn’t normally his field of speciality, but given no one really knows what the fuck they’re going up against, he supposes they need a variety of types to tackle it.

Zia’s shadow passes over him as she flies lazy laps in the mist-filled air, passing beneath the overly-bright peach-colored sun that occasionally slices through the clouds.

He is also unused to working as part of a team, especially a team with no real line of authority.

“I think we should stick to the mountain,” he says, and though his words are suggestive of a recommendation, his tone suggests he’s going to do that, anyway, regardless of what everyone else says, “makes it easy to get our bearings.”

Serena had made a promise to herself, after her last ghost hunting escapades that she would remain as far away from spirits and the spirit realm as possible. Yet, here she was, in another rumored 'spirit realm'. Someone higher up had to be playing jokes on her. Was it Martín del Mar? She was sure he'd get a few chuckles at her reactions towards the dreaded ghosts she fears. [break][break]

A silent sigh escaped her lips as narrowed crimson orbs scanned the area ahead of them. She wasn't sure who she was assigned this mission with but out of the two she figured she was sent here for her experience in the area. Not to mention she was a former Beast. Should it come down to a pinch she could be trusted to get Rocket's personnel out of danger in one piece.[break][break]

Her brother, Adrian Malcolm and Yveltal had given her details about this place, but not much if she was honest. But she knew Rocket had tasked the group with reconnaissance so that's what they would do. “I think we should stick to the mountain,” one of the members of the group spoke up. Serena recognized him as Onyx Straub. She personally hasn't seen him in action before but considering they had all be paired together she supposed that meant they were all capable in some sort of way.[break][break]

“makes it easy to get our bearings.” he continued on. Serena only replied with a low grunt in acknowledgement. She wasn't opposed to the idea. She also wasn't tasked with leading this little band of thieves so she would remain in the back, keeping a watchful eye for now until she deemed her assistance necessary. This might have been a test for the two grunts, Serena didn't want to impede on that. Meanwhile she braced herself for anything that should catch them off guard. Her hands resting on the holsters of her doublade's on her hip.

A whistle echoed through the mountains and carried it on the small breeze that blew through this strange land. Both Kazimir and his Urshifu glanced in opposite direction to try and get a large lay of the land before them before they decided to try and explore more of it. Honestly seeing such a peaceful land in front of him gave him a mysterious feeling, like he could empathize with the spirits here that decided to make this place their resting spot. It would make for a nice place for a lost soul to sleep the last of their worries away. Still it wasn't something that Kaz could fully relate to so he hoped that the spirits still here were happy.

Soon the hairs on the back of his neck stood up as he felt a breeze blow from behind him and he turned to face the source of it only to be met with the sight of a giant waterfall in the distance. The sound of its roaring could be heard from the small stop he and Kyrenai Black found themselves at and he took a few steps in its direction pointing at it. "That might be a good place to set up camp here. Good source of water...y'know, if its drinkable."

If it was some kind of otherwordly ghostly water...would it just go right through them? The thought dominated his mind as his Urshifu decided to take charge and give a glance towards Kyrenai Black and give a shrug before walking down the path that seemed to lead to the waterfall. Kazimir followed behind him turning only to face his other companion while walking backwards, "Gotta say, this place sure is scenic ain't it? Almost makes me want to stay a while."

tldr;

* Kazimir makes it a mission for him and Kyrenai Black to maybe head up to the waterfall and set up a base of operations there. Also is acting too much of a tourist probably.

Despite keeping a low profile under team rockets radar, it seems that these mysterious portals have pushed them to get everyone involved and swiftly. And unfortunately for Genesis, she was forced to go out on an expedition with a team whether she liked it or not. Although the raven haired woman was all about adventures, this place took that to a whole new level she wasn’t expecting.[break][break]

Green orb widened at the sight of floating land masses, noticing the almost translucent bridges that linked them to one another. Her gaze peered over the edge of the one they stood on, a gust of wind sending her long raven hair into a fray. She took in a deep breath, the rush of pure adrenaline pulsed through her at the thought of possibly falling to her death if she wasn’t careful. This place, was crazy awesome.[break][break]

Grinning, the grunt returned to the group to see what was going on. Her green orbs fell upon the woman, who was apparently a rocket member, when she spoke about the mountains. Genesis wasn’t much of an active rocket member, let alone a social one with fellow rockets. So in all honest, she had no idea who this person was but did get informed she was going to be paired with two other rocket members along with two other league personnel.[break][break]

But before the woman could make a comment, the more well known rocket figure in the ranks spoke up and agreed. Probably their babysitter. Great. “Sure sure,” the woman replied casually, not really caring what they do, “Whatever you say. It seems like the most logical way.” Eyeing the many bridges, a thought crossed her mind and she didn’t think about how others would perceive it. “Should we like… walk all the way… or like… get a pokemon to ride?” Walking seemed like waaaay to much work.

She'd just let the man whistle away as they wandered across The Border; she hadn't spoken much past her introduction and the occassional few words, prefering silence over casual banter. Penny had taken to these lands as well for reasons beyond her ken, but rather than stick to the councilwoman's side she'd opted to explore as well, and to bring back her own findings at a later date.

Yet while she'd originally intended to go alone, she'd been paired with someone else from the League. Only a minor setback, but the man'd proven agreeable company--- potent, too, by the looks of the Urshifu he'd taken along. They made whatever this world was that much more lively; for peaceful as it may seem, she did not trust it. Like for people silent waters ran deep, she too believed that for places, peace only hid chaos waiting to be unchained. It was why she had not called any of her pokémon out to aid their scouting. Why the sword at her side had been shifted ever so slightly so she could access it more swiftly; and the knives hidden across her person had been subtly altered to more accessible areas.

She knew better than to trust the silence of this realm.

Even if the silence was soon broken by the sounds of a roaring waterfall off in the distance. Her gaze followed the direction Kazimir Wynter pointed towards, and she nodded to his observations. Yes, if the water was drinkable that would be their best bet, though she could only hope they did not harbor as much wildlife as the ones back in Hoenn did. They'd just have to be careful.

The assassin just watched as the Urshifu shrugged at her and took charge, a faint smirk playing on her lips. She liked that one already, though she would not say. Kyrenai sped up her pace to walk beside Kazimir Wynter instead, and for the first time since their entry into The Borders decided to make actual conversation with the man, though she'd never let down her guard fully. "Just don't let them catch you off guard. No matter how nice things look, I'd be more comfortable once we've mapped out this location," she replied, not quite as enthusiastically as the blond man. Though the teasing smile she wore as she continued showed she didn't mean it in a bad way. "Though afterwards we could definitely take the scenic tour, I'm sure."

[attr="class","thadmain"]He doesn’t usually work in groups, and could count on one hand the amount of times he’d done so and, if not enjoyed it, he at least didn’t hate it.

Caramel-colored smoke winds around his ankles and kicks up as Ziadem lands and he swings onto her back. They lift off and set out in the direction of the mountains.

Distance is strange, here. With each passing cloud they seem to shift and change, sometimes appearing closer, sometimes further away. The clouds above get thicker, tangling into an impenetrable bank, and then thinning out again.

Wind blows against his neck, ruffling his hair, and sending chills down his spine.

Look at you! a voice says, familiar and foreign at the same time.

Onyx stiffens, tightening his hold on Zia’s ruff; writing it off as a trick of the wind, he nevertheless directs her back towards the party, deciding there was a relative safety in numbers, and the comfort of living, breathing, physical people.

It seemed like the group was in agreement with heading to the mountains, which worked out for her. She didn't care where they headed as long as they managed to find something worthwhile for Rocket here. Distant memories of Kanto Rocket days reminded her that failure wasn't an option. “Should we like… walk all the way… or like… get a Pokémon to ride?” a fair question. Onyx didn't speak before lifting off on his own Corviknight soaring up into the skies. [break][break]

"Young people these days." Serena muttered but there was a faint tug of a smirk on her lips. With a snap of her fingers Horus, her Pidgeot appeared from his pokeball and she swiftly mounted on his back before extending a hand to the other rocket female in this little group. "Do you need a ride?" she asked as piercing crimson orbs drifted down to her but an easy practice smile formed on her lips. [break][break]

If Genesis decided to climb aboard and ride with Serena, after checking that she was secure they would soar off after their other teammate that had taken off earlier. If Serena's offer was declined she would shrug, her expression reading 'suit yourself' before patting Horus and taking off on their own. [break][break]

Either way, getting a aerial view of the area proved to be better than trekking and surveying the land on foot. Mountains were sprawled out to the north, jagged cliffs to the south, towering trees to the west and a waterfall to the east. Even through the team had agreed to check out the mountains, Serena wouldn't mind taking a detour towards the waterfall after they finished doing what they were doing here.

Before Genesis could even make any more additional comments, the other rocket member was off on his steel bird. The raven haired woman watched him fly away, gaze shifted to when the other woman summoned her own beast and jumped on ready to take flight. The woman shrugged her shoulders, reaching into her pocket to pluck out her own corviknight. However just as she twisted to snatch a ball, Serena offered a ride.[break][break]

Green orbs fell upon the red eyes of her team mate, Serena’s own smirk forced a wicked smirk on her own deep red glossy lips. There was something in the woman’s eyes she liked. But what, unsure. Moving closer to accepted her offer, she reached out to hope on the bird behind her. “I mean if you’re going to offer,” the woman replied, adjusting herself on the back of the bird.[break][break]

And not too shortly after she mounted the avian, they were off in a flash. Genesis, unintentionally, held onto Serena’s waist, truly stunned by the power of the bird. It wasn’t no corviknight but man, it was strong. Her green orbs took in their surrounds, noticing them heading towards the waterfall. “Is that gunna be our water source or soemthing?” A brow rose, thats a lot of water.[break][break]

"don't have to tell me twice. its not exactly my first rodeo exploring otherworldly places." Hopefully this would go a lot smoother than the trip he took into Ultra Space. Here it seemed like it would be too peaceful for them to be ambushed by strange creatures. Of course that was just optimistic thinking on Kazimir's part as he lead the way up towards the waterfall.

"Thank you Pokkenger. My daughter is safe now."

Kaz stopped in his tracks and felt the hairs on the back of his neck suddenly stand up as a whisper entered his ear. Eyes darted back and forth as he tried to find the source of it, his hands twitching and slowly balling into fists as he wondered if he heard what he thought he heard right. Did someone just call for-

"Oh Pokkenger, your here! Our hero is here to help!" "Won't you help us pass on?" "A great hero like you can do it! You saved my family after all!"

That's when his head snapped back to look behind him, a smidge of fear on his face as he did and caught the curiosity of his Urshifu who looked in the same direction only to see nothing. "Did...did anyone...hear that?" What even was "that" he had to wonder. Because how would it know about him like that here of all places? "I...I think we outta pick up the pace a little bit." He didn't want to stay in the same place for too long and quickly turned back around and power walked his way forward. He didn't want to think about the voices he just heard, not when they were calling him by "that name".

It felt like a reminder of people he couldn't save back home.

It reminds him, at first, of a manhole cover, but extremely ornate, and coming out of a cliff face. It’s been split in half and part of it rests against the ground, the other fractured piece still wedged up in the rocks.

Danger, Will Robinson, someone says, just like Jett would when he was about to do something stupid. She always loved those corny old TV shows.

“What is that?” he calls, ignoring the figments of his imagination (it wouldn't be the first time his sister has spoken to him, though maybe the first where he's been sober) pointing towards the broken object. With a squeeze of his knees, he directs Ziadem downwards to land near it, and slides off her back to get a closer look.

Not his first rodeo in an otherworldy realm? Curious. But she wouldn't ask him about it while they were still on the move, she'd rather keep her wits and focus about while traveling; the assassin could question Kazimir later on, once they'd found a suitable spot to set up camp. The path to the waterfall was winding further up ahead, like a steep mountain pass. It did not seem traveled a lot, but it was goable at the very least. Kyrenai kept her pace going, eyes up ahead while Kazimir slowly but well started disappearing in the corner of her eye, until he'd fully left her sight. She wasn't about to question the why-- perhaps he needed a private moment.

Yet when she realised how far he'd gotten behind, and the amount of distance between them, she slowed her pace as well, glancing over her shoulder to see Kazimir having stopped dead in his tracks, back faced towards her. "Oi, you coming?" she asked, only to frown when he retorted about her having heard something. The assassin only shook her head. She'd been paying attention to her surroundings, but hadn't heard anything at all.

"Heard what exactly?" she questioned, hand resting on her blade. Although doubtful, missing a sound could've been a possibility. But the way in which her partner just wanted to pick up the pace instead, climbing up the path at twice the speed they'd been going at, Kyrenai frowned. It seemed as if something had spooked the man... but what could've possibly done that? More questions to ask later on--- for now, she walked on with him.

The closer they got to the waterfall, the stranger the water seemed to be; there was a rather stark difference in the middle of the waterfall compared to the top or bottom. Far darker, as if it was hiding something behind it. Very faintly she thought she spotted something else, but the mist and water splashing off extending rocks made it hard to be certain. "Hey, Wynter, I think there's something behind that waterfall. Right about the middle, do you see it?" she softly nudges his arm, pointing at the strange object she made out behind it.

The longer she looked however, the clearer she started seeing it-- was it glowing?

"... actually, I'm going to give it a closer look. Feel free to join me if you want!"

Sprinting the last bit towards the base of the waterfall, Kyrenai gave the wall a glance to mentally outline the path she could take and started climbing. The way in which she was just swinging and tossing herself from extending rock to the next ledge made the ascend look easy, but she was glad the surface wasn't as slippery as she'd first thought it to be. She'd give Kazimir a glance to see if he was following or not before disappearing behind the waterfall, into a small cave barely able to hold six people. But the strange circular structure she found behind it, glowing and cracked, was something she'd never seen before.

Cautiously, she got closer to inspect it.

"Huh? Yeah hold up!" the ginger man cried out as he ran after the woman when she brought him back to reality. It was probably for the best as he was thinking a little bit too much about the strange voices that were praising him out of no where just now. While the praise was welcome it didn't leave Kazimir with a feeling of gratitude, instead a feeling of discomfort at the fact that he was hearing such things at all.

With that he practically jumped forward and ran after his companion as they reached a waterfall and mentioned something about it hiding something behind it. Kurenai was quick to climb around the water and even pretty good at jumping from rock to rock to get behind it with Kaz following right behind her. While his bulk made it a bit awkward to get solid footing around the rocky wall his height made up for it for letting him reach out and grab onto the same rocks she used instead of jumping from them. He still got a bit soaked by the waterfall being so closer to him than her though.

As he joined her in the cave while soaking wet he didn't seemed fazed by being drenched once he laid eyes on the large structure in front of them. To say it was impressive was an understatement. "Whoa... That looks out of place even in here." He commented as he looked over the structure as it glowed, highlighting the cracks along its surface as they broke up the pattern decorating it. Unlike Kurenai he wasn't eager to go right up to it and only noticed at the last second how close she was getting, "Hey careful! Something this big is probably here for a reason!" he called out to her as he couldn't keep his gaze off of the strange glowing circle.

It didn’t take too long for the rocket crew to make it to the broken seal to the north, Genesis leaning out behind Serena in an attempt to get a better look before getting to close. Her green eyes widened at the sight, reaching into her pocket to summon her own flying beast to try to get closer faster.[break][break]

Pressing the button, another covriknight materialized within seconds in the sky just slightly below them. Genesis leaping off the one she was on only to land roughly on top of her own flying mount. The raven haired woman gazed a trouble makers smile, ushering for her bird to fly faster. The corviknight thrusted her wings, forcing them to caught up Onyx as she called out to look at something.[break][break]

Curiosity got the best of her, turning to see what it was. Her brows scrunched, puzzled at what she was talking about. “See what,” The woman replied back, tapping for her flying mount to drop her closer to the seal. The steel and flying type lowered to the ground, landing gracefully on its talons before Genesis leaped off the back without a care in the world. Her green orbs examined the broken seal, moving closer to get a better look. Her hand reached out, wanting to touch it.
