As he onto his hat the wind was blowing hard. With a smile on his face Ghost came to this beautiful city. For two things and two things only and that was to take on Josh Gym and he heard rumors of Zapdos being around these parts. As Ghost was walking along the road. He would be taking in the sights. It was new to be in a loud city such as this. But he heard about Josh's gym and how it was hard to beat. So many people stay away from it.
"How crazy Josh you really need to chill out with the racing." He would say to himself as he made it to the location. But as he looked around he did not see Josh, "he must be on the inside. Make it harder for me why don't you buddy." Or was it just that Ghost was lazy a little bit of both? Either way, he was here now and he was going to pass this Gym test whatever that might be.

With you know who by his side he was ready to take on anything.

MAUVILLE CITY | Corkscrew | Difficulty: ★★☆☆☆☆
COURSE RECORD: 02'26"070

[player]https://fi.zophar.net/soundfiles/nintendo-gamecube-gcn/f-zero-gx/220%20-%20Long%20Pre-View%20%28Course%20View%202%29.mp3[/player]

Josh was on the far west side of the Racing Grounds, helping three of his best Gym Trainers get ready for their first dragon race since joining the Gym. Aerial races were already more exciting and potentially more dangerous than land and aquatic ones, but the sheer power dragon Pokémon had raised the stakes a lot more.

The Leader was helping Jackie get seated in Alphamax's saddle, the young girl nervous as she held her noise-canceling helmet in her arm. The long-haired blonde, only age sixteen, almost looked apprehensive about it. She had every right to; when those bio-thrusters had finished spooling, she was going to go hurtling forward faster than a jet.

Lyndon sat astride the floating Dragonair, Resheph. A small, minimalistic-looking helmet and a pair of goggles was all the redhead wore around his head. Dressed in a long-sleeved TERAVOLT shirt Josh was certain would appreciate, he wore racing gloves similar to Josh's. While there was very little skin exposed around his arms and hands, if the exposure reached the wrong angle, it could feel like the bare skin would be on fire from the apparent wind's friction.

That left Josh's second-in-command at the Gym, Shawn, with Kokusho, perhaps the most difficult Pokémon to control at his entire Gym. The dark-type had already tried to buck the poor racer off once before he could secure himself in the cocoon. Josh felt sorry he had to thrust the mean and aggressive Pokémon into the older trainer's hands, but had challenged the Gym with a Salamence. That meant Josh had to be astride Yosei, his own Salamence. As he awaited the challenger's arrival in the southwest Sector 6, an announcement from Shelly, the one of the Gym's schedulers, came over the PA system.

"Challenger , please report to Sector 6. Challenger Fireheart, to Sector 6. Thank you!"

Provided Ghost had little difficulty following the sprawling Racing Grounds' signage, he would find Josh atop Yosei, as well as the three Gym Trainers on his other dragons. "I know you've been waiting for this one for a while," Josh greeted Ghost, rubbing his hands together. "We're going to be racing dragons together. And not just the two of us." He gestured toward the three Gym Trainers, all taking their right hands off their mounts' reins long enough to wave.

"These three are Lyndon, on my Dragonair; Jackie, on my Garchomp; and Shawn, on my Hydreigon. They're three of my best regulars around," he introduced each, all of them smiling at the compliments the Leader had for them. All three attempted to make small talk with Ghost while Josh led the group to the starting line of Corkscrew, the course they would be racing.

Tall poles sticking up from the equivalent land course marked the bounds for its aerial counterpart. While the poles could be flown above, and the space between the two sides was wide, crossing their plane was instantly punishable with a steep OFF COURSE penalty. It was in the racers' best interest to stay between them. Other than two hairpin turns at the course's west and south end, the course was simple, except for the backstretch. Back there was a series of mandatory pass-through rings that forced racers to fly in a counterclockwise corkscrew to be able to make it through some of the odd angles they were positioned at. Missing those would result in a steep time penalty, as well. The dragons better be comfortable performing relatively slow barrel rolls!

With the four racers, and presumably Navy, lined up, the Leader could resume going over the rest of the rules. "Alright, Ghost, here's the lowdown. See that arch just past us?" He pointed toward said feature, boasting a digital display with a trio of images of an artist's rendition of Raikou, sprinting at full speed. "That will show, and sound, a countdown of 3, 2, 1, GO. On GO, you better be ready to go fast, cause you'll need it. Any Pokémon moves that make them go faster, and yes that includes DRAGON DANCE, are off-limits during only the first lap. After that, use them as much as you think you can handle. Beat me to the finish line after three laps, or otherwise show me you can stay calm while making split second decisions, and the Hoenn League Quick Badge is yours." Josh smirked. This was going to be a particularly fun race, and he planned on being a little more competitive than normal. While he still had to hold back some of his skill, he was going to hold back less this time. "And you better hold on with everything you've got. Dragons are known for their super speed in the air!"

INSTRUCTIONS

You will have 8 ranks to distribute among three skills. No more than 5 ranks can be assigned to any one skill.
  • SPEED: This represents how fast your Pokémon can travel. Each rank of Speed adds 10 to all your rolls.
  • ENDURANCE: This represents how well a Pokémon can navigate difficult terrain, and affects how often a Pokémon can use its Boost during a race. Your Pokémon can use its Boost a number of times equal to its number of ranks in Endurance (min. 1). Each rank of Endurance reduces the Target Number of Endurance-based Obstacles by 20.
  • REACTION: This represents a Pokémon’s cornering ability. Each rank of Reaction reduces the Target Number of Reaction-based Obstacles by 20.

In the OOC notes of your next post, please note your Pokémon's distribution of skills.

You do not need to roll after your next post, but you will need to [ roll ] twice at the end of every post mid-challenge. This roll will be modified according to your Pokémon's skill ranks.

Example: If a player rolls a 60 on a post involving running down a straightaway as fast as possible atop a Pokémon with four ranks in Speed, their effective roll will be 100.

The Leader's next post will include a "mod post" that depicts the course's first Obstacle: a prompt that presents a challenge for the racers to overcome. Each Obstacle will include the following information:

Target Number: This is the number the racers need to roll at or above to overcome the Obstacle without penalty. While it is uncommon, an Obstacle can have multiple Target Numbers.

Intended Skill: This is the Skill that will apply to the Obstacle. It can be Speed, Endurance, or Reaction.

Example Obstacle: The track starts out with a bang--a sharp, 135-degree left turn mere tens of meters from the starting line. The width of the turn itself makes recovering from a misjudged angle easier, but the track quickly narrows up again afterward. A guardrail on the outside keeps Pokémon from sliding off the course, but there is no such guardrail on the inside, and there’s a shallow stream that looks time-consuming for non-Water Pokémon to climb out of!

Target Number: 105 (Reaction)
After the players make their rolls, the Target Number is deducted from the player's roll, and the difference becomes the player's Track Points (TP) for the round. 100 TP corresponds to roughly one second of time differential. The race will consist of three laps, with three Obstacles per lap. After the ninth Obstacle, total Track Points will determine finishing order.

"Holy moly, this place is something else. I did not expect a full-blown out race track. Is the race track the literal gym itself? Well, who knows I do I bet Josh does." Ghost was talking out loud to himself. It was something to behold. But at the end of it, all was this true? How Josh just got that much cooler in his eyes and just like that more ways on how to upgrade the gym came to mind. But that was just his theory. As he looked on he would see Josh and his gym trainers or racers or whatever you wanted to call them. As he waved at them all.
He could not speak to everyone at once so he said to them. "Nice to meet you all. My name is FireHeart....Ghost FireHeart and I am a Pokemon Ranger chaser and lover. But today I am this gym's most recent opponent.

Soon he would look at Josh as he explained what was going to happen and he took out his Pokeball. "Ok let's do this I am still a noob at this but we can give it a go on the racing scene." But right before he was about to let out Roc Royal. Ghost would see a red light come about and out came Roxie his other salamence. "Oh, girl you really wanted to race today didn't you?"He would say while smiling at her. As she quickly put him on her back and then spared her wings. "Well, then we are all set and ready when you all are."

🎼 THEME SONG - Devil's Call in your Heart - F-ZERO X OFFICIAL SOUNDTRACK

All three of Josh's Gym trainers waved back to him, Shawn even making small talk with him about his chase as the group of five racers lined up for their first all-dragon race in a long time. Even on courses as easy as Corkscrew, the raw ability dragons had was going to make navigating the course as fast as possible an intense experience. "Oh, not Roc Royal?" Josh noticed. "I thought you'd be using Roc Royal for sure! If you're more confident in this one, then go for it. I thought for sure you'd want to use Roc Royal. Being able to ride as one is super important."

A loud squawk from the speakers on the sides of the starting arch cut the racers' conversation short, three still images of an artist's depiction of the legendary Pokémon Raikou, the very Pokémon Josh was chasing. Underneath was an orange "GET READY" prompt, Josh and his Gym Trainers tensing their legs in preparation to spur their mounts off the line. One by one, the images disappeared to simulate a countdown, brief but loud squawk sounding alongside them. When the last one faded away, a higher-pitched and longer tone echoed, the prompt changing to "GO".

All three of the Gym Trainers and their Leader dug their heels into their dragons' scales, Yosei, Kokusho, and Resheph getting airborne quickly. Alphamax took off running down the opening straightaway, his bio-thrusters spooling up as poor Jackie squinted beneath her helmet. Why did she agree to be the one who rode the Garchomp, anyway?

INSTRUCTIONS

After each posting round, a prompt describing the upcoming section of the track will be posted. These prompts may highlight different sections of the course on each lap. You will react to the prompt, then [ roll ] twice. For the first lap, the Leader's rolls will be capped at 130 before modifiers.

LAP 1 | OBSTACLE 1

Not far off the starting line was a series of shallow left turns, followed up a sharp U-turn to the right. There were no target rings to fly through, meaning the Pokémon were free to take whatever flight path they would like, provided they stayed within the red and green poles on the inside and outside of the course marking its bounds. Even with a steep bank angle, some amount of braking would be needed to round the corner. For Pokémon that weren't good at banking, harsher braking would be needed to remain in bounds.

Target Number: 120 (Reaction)

Special: None

Roxie's racing ranks will be SPEED/A, ENDURANCE/A, REACTION/E per our Discord DMs.

In response to Josh saying about his main, he would reply to him. "That was the plan but It looks like this one is up for the race." Soon he would climb upon her and ready himself for the race.

Soon as he was all set he would see the ready-set-go mark. But before that. He would see the mighty Pokemon Josh dreamed of racing with. With a small smile on his face, he would say to himself. "Josh you are something else when it comes to catching him. As I am when it comes to chasing Zapdos."

"GO" Is what he heard as he took off. Keeping a steady pace. He had to learn the lay of the land and how his Pokemon could actually race. Her wing bear per second was powerful as it helped catapult her ahead. As this type of dragon Pokemon is known for its certain burst of speed. But in all honesty, they could only last for moments at a time. As he was getting used to the speed of how she would ride he would start to take notice of the race track. "Green and Red poles, I am guessing we must stay between the two."

Soon he would notice how the tide of the race battle was going. Two in the front and two in the back. Ghost was gaining on one of them. Yet the one behind him was not far off. A smile came across his face as he was having a blast. As Roxie started to pick up even more speed.

"Fair," Josh conceded. "Pokémon have minds of their own, after all." As the race was about to begin, the topic of their chases came back up. Raikou, perhaps the fastest Pokémon on land, and Zapdos, perhaps the fastest of the Kanto birds. The similarities were endless. "Tell you what. Someday, when both our chases are complete, we race Raikou and Zapdos, using all of Hoenn as our track." But that was not now. Now, they had their own high speed challenge to compete in.

On the signal to begin, Josh and all three of his Gym Trainers spurred their Pokémon off the line and into the air. While the poles weren't overly tall, setting a fairly low ceiling, there was plenty of room for all of them to maneuver. In preparation for the big turn, Josh kept Yosei's altitude fairly now, though not so low that he risked the dragon's claws touching the ground when he banked around the shallow opening curves. He kept Yosei toward the outside of the track before pulling back to the right, simultaneously shifting his body weight in the same direction to make a sharp turn. It was risky to try to crest such a sharp turn, especially with the minimal braking Yosei employed, but if it worked, the Master of Faster would have an impressive early lead.

{WC: 226}
{PC: 3}

h6hmEAOb

The opening U-turn, the course's first real test, proved to be difficult for almost all of the racers for different reasons. It was only the Dragonair and Garchomp that were able to round the curve relatively unscathed. Even with his tremendous racing experience, Josh had a bad habit of trying to go too fast. His bank angle was too steep, trying to make a turn his Salamence could not handle. With his low altitude, the dragon's right wingtip scraped the ground, disrupting the flight surfaces of his wings and forcing him to upright himself in a split second to avoid a race-ending crash. It would still be a tremendous time loss, as they needed to get back in the air.

Shawn's difficulty was mostly in his Pokémon's insubordination; as of yet, no one at the facility had realized that the Hydreigon did not like being controlled through his reins. He begrudgingly allowed Shawn to do so, though he roughhoused the poor Gym Trainer every time they would need to slow down anyway. The Hydreigon had seemingly limitless wells of stamina and could easily come back on the narrow backstretch. He could maintain his full speed without worrying about fatigue at all.

Ghost, like Josh, simply tried to go too fast. With Roxie being trained for extended high speed flight, she simply was not maneuverable enough. While they didn't crash like Josh did, they not only rounded the U-turn at greatly reduced speeds due to how stiff her turning was, they did so along the outside of the course. Josh and Ghost found themselves close to one another, but a distant 4th and 5th from the rest of the field. There was plenty of race to go, and anything could happen!

LAP 1 | OBSTACLE 2

Prompt: A long straightaway gave the racers a chance to relax, though halfway down it, the colors of the poles swapped, marked by two large yet narrow target rings for the racers to fly through! They were more horizontally narrow, requiring Pokémon to fly at sharp angles. Furthermore, the reversed colors between the two rings meant that the dragons were expected to perform a slow barrel roll through them or otherwise fly inverted for the stretch of track! A stiff time penalty would be assessed for missed rings or improper flight between them!

Target Number: 120 (Endurance)

Special: None

It was show time for his Dragon to go all out. They barely made it past the first wave. But they were just getting started. As Roxie looked on. Ghost would have a smile on his face. As his heart started to beat fast. As he looked up he could start to feel his Dragon Pokemon emotions. It was as if he knew what she was going to do next and boy was he right. Because now her speed played a role as she picked it up Ghost would hold on for dear life. As he started to go down the long narrow way of a race track.
It was easy said than done. As he looked on he would a sharp turn coming up. The wind would start to hit his face and eyes and that is when he put on his goggles. It helped him out a lot.

Soon he would heed press down on Roxie side's as he was telling her to make a shape turn. As she was able to narrowly do just this. Has it been Rox Royal he might have crashed. But as soon as he did that turn it was an all-new start. As the colors seemed to be at a different type of paste   Ghost would have to do some quick thinking as he would then say. "Looks like the colors then a flip on us. Stay alert and stay smart. We got this, my dear girl. We just may make it out of this round before the others."

He would say that with all cheers and a very strong will behind it.

Josh took a deep breath before leaning hard to his right, fully vertical as they passed through the opening ring of the corkscrew. With the Salamence's wings not designed to be able to handle extended inverted flight, he planned to drop just enough altitude for them to maintain their speed while flying upside down and pass through the bottom of the corkscrew's exit ring. It would be much easier if Josh rode his Dragonair or Garchomp, but that was up to his Gym Trainers.

Blood rushed to the Gym Leader's head as he found himself seeing the ground above his head and the sky beneath him, Yosei's cocoon saddle integral in keeping him from falling. At the end of the corkscrew, he grunted while shifting his body weight back to the left, a testament to how strong was for being able to fly his birds through such strenuous obstacles at his own Gym. He wondered how he would do on the Birdfather's obstacle course now...

_zWxAWyM

It was a good thing Josh didn't notice Ghost was riding without eye protection at first, otherwise there would have been quite the scolding after the race! The five Pokémon rotated their bodies, all of them flying inverted with little trouble. Roxie in particular seemed adept at flying inverted, able to tuck her wings in and rocket ahead of Josh and Yosei. The two had their eyes on the Garchomp ahead of them, who had nearly overshot the ring marking the end of the inverted section from Jackie's inexperience. She had to signal for a large amount of counter-thrust to be able to avoid a large time penalty, though her swerving easily allowed the Gym Leader and challenger to be within striking range of passing her.

Resheph build up her lead further, Lyndon piloting the Dragonair arguably better than her trainer would have. While she didn't possess the raw speed without her boost moves, her potent Extreme Speed would serve the two well after crossing the fast-approaching starting line. They would have to get through the difficult backstretch first, though! It was narrowing rapidly, and there would not be enough room for Yosei, Roxie, and Alphamax to all race alongside one another!

LAP 1 | OBSTACLE 3

Prompt: After the dizzying corkscrew came the course's difficult home stretch: a very narrow straightaway only able to accommodate two Pokémon followed by an S-curve at the same width. While there were tall, dense nets preventing the Pokémon from going out of bounds, flying into one would still cost the dragons and their riders a lot of time. It would take great stamina and finesse from both dragon and rider to fly through such a narrow corridor for so long.

Target Number: 140 (Speed)

Special: Pokémon also apply half their Endurance ranks and half their Reaction ranks (no rounding) to this Obstacle. TP loss as a result of rolling beneath this Obstacle's Target Number is multiplied by 1.5.

Ghost would look on and be a bit more relaxed. He would come to realize that he was behind. Within his mind, he has no idea how this race even works. He knows he will win if he beats all of them to the finish line. But does he win if he beats Josh but loses to the others? He would start to laugh as Roxie started to pick up speed.

Soon he would see the next stage and it seemed easy enough. But then as he looked on he would see that the path was a bit smaller than the other. This would have him a little bit nervous. As he started to go forth. He knows his Dragon Type is one of the biggest of them all. But she had the speed to her and she was no pushover. But at long last Ghost had to think of something and something quick in order to get ahead of the game and then it don on him. He could use Dragon Dance. But the question is how many times could he use it and if the others were thinking of the same thing?
Soon he had no time to think as he went right to the action. As Roxie tucked in her wings to get a small speed boost by diving and then coming up. That was a good thing. As of now the wind that was forming around her wings was coming together now. Ghost didn't know what place he was but it could not be first if he saw others in front of him. As he looked on his Dragon speed started to come into play. She started to make her move a smile would be on his face as he looked on. Ghost would be all smile as well as he started to catch up to the others. But try as he might he could not get in front of them well not without knocking them over.

The narrow backstretch was easily the most challenging part of the otherwise relatively simple course. As nuch as Josh wanted to make a move on the Salamence ahead of him, he had to show discipline. There would be plenty of opportunities to pass the challenger once the course widened, and especially at the start of the second lap, when Yosei would be allowed to boost.

For now, the Gym Leader kept his hands as steady as possible on the reins, guiding his Salamence around the narrow but gentle curves the nets marked. While none of his dragons were built for precision flying other than perhaps Verte, whose method of flying was still a little uncomfortable to him, the wide-bodied, blue dragon was as good as it would get otherwise. Once they passed that starting line, though, he had plans to zoom. He was determined to leave Ghost in the dust.

G0KOc7B6

While Yosei was making the final turn in the narrow corridor, a sudden gust of wind made his hand slip, the Salamence turning hard left. By the time Josh could correct, impact with the net was inevitable. While it was designed to gently repel those who flew into it, the collision sapped much of Yosei's speed. Shawn, too, could not maintain full control of Kokusho between the next, the second-in-command Gym trainer loudly grunting as the Hydreigon bucked him sharply while freeing himself.

Roxie's dive was a little reckless in the narrow flight corridor, but it paid off! They were now a distant second, Jackie and Shawn not far behind and fighting for third place. All three had their sights set on Lyndon, astride a playfully-drifting Dragonair that looked like she was having way too much fun being in the lead.

INSTRUCTIONS

You Got Boost Power! Speed-increasing moves, such as QUICK ATTACK, AGILITY, and EXTREME SPEED are now allowed. Pokémon will be able to use such speed-increasing moves a number of times up to their Endurance ranks for the rest of the race. Speed-increasing moves will grant you ADVANTAGE for the posting round, meaning you will [ roll ] four times instead of two for that post and ignore the lower set of rolls. Please separate the first two rolls from the second two rolls with a delimiter of some kind. For the second lap of the race, the Leader's rolls will be capped at 150, before modifiers are applied.

Beware! Taking tight turns and stamina-draining Obstacles at high speeds can result in dire consequences, and may impose DISADVANTAGE, meaning the lower of the two rolls will be taken. If the lower of the two rolls would still pass the Obstacle, Track Position for that Obstacle will be calculated based on the higher of the two rolls.

LAP 2 | OBSTACLE 1

Prompt: After the first of two hairpin turns, the racers at last had some room to breathe. With a wide track, gentle turns, and no mandatory trick-flying to worry about, it would be a perfect opportunity for the dragon riders to conserve their Pokémon's stamina... or go ham with bursts of speed. The corkscrew was coming, though, and they needed to be prepared for it! Taking that at boosted speed would mean the dragons would need to spin faster than they did on the first lap!

A Race To Remember:Gym Battle (Ghost Vs Josh)

It was getting dire for him and his Pokemon. Ghost was all smiles but still in a bit of a pitch. He and Roxie had a lot to do. Her speed was what was going to win them this race. As he looked ahead he did not see many people in front of him. Could it be that he was so far behind that he had lost the pace of the race and the other? A small smirk would come on his face.
As he enters the next phase of the race. Fire would be in his eyes and boy was he ready to take off.

Now then it was all for something as he looked on Ghost would say to Roxie. "ALRIGHT, ITS TIME TO UNLEASH YOUR SOUL AND TAKE THEM OUT WITH DRAGON DANCE." With a smile on her face. He would look on as she went all out. Shifting side to side. Up and down a small red glow would come around her. As she could feel her speed increasing and beyond what she had felt before. It was show time.

As she started down the path to glory the path to get her to the finish line. Ghost would look on and be a bit more steady and ready for what was to come next. As he would hold on for a tight curve. This race was fun for him. Win or lose he was having a great time. But now it was the time to take the lead.

As necessary as it was for the Pokémon to get warmed up, it sure made the first lap of every race boring in Josh's eyes, especially on simple courses such as this one. Sure, there were two turns that required the Salamence to brake, but other than those, he could have Yosei roar ahead at full speed. What rider skill was there in that? That part of the race was over. If anything, now was the time to show off his skills as a racer. If anyone could make up this big deficit, it was Josh.

"Yosei, DRAGON DANCE!" the Mauville Leader shouted. His mount's subsequent, raucous roar echoed all the way to the front of the pack, Ghost likely able to hear it. Enveloped in purple dragon energy, Josh reined his Pokémon toward the outside of the curve, trying to maintain as straight of a line as possible through it. He had to tug hard to the left, then right, to get the Salamence to turn sufficiently for navigating the light S-curve while maintaining his boosted speed. That left outside wall loomed closer, Josh's arm shaking from maintaining the tension in the cord directing his mount to turn right. "Ugh!!" he groaned, trying to get his ride to turn as hard as he could.

The Gym Leader had just enough strength in him, his Salamence mount turning just hard enough to avoid going out of bounds! Being able to hold the added speed of a DRAGON DANCE through two curves let the duo make up a lot of lost time, the six wings of Shawn's Salamence inching ever closer as the horizon spun in a quick circle. Jackie and Alphamax were not far ahead of them, the rider able to feel the wake of the finned dragon's exhaust. They were the only two that didn't put on displays of burst speed coming out of the corner, the gallery gasping as Resheph put on an impressive bursts of EXTREME SPEED.

Roxie could feel Ghost's moxie to take the lead. Without her trainer even guiding her, merely sending her rider's desires, she likewise drifted toward the outside to prepare for the corner. The red-and-purple glow of dragon energy being discharged enveloped the duo as they came out of the S-curve, performing a speedy barrel roll alongside the other dragons in the race. While Lyndon and Resheph had extended their lead, there was still a lot of course to go! Anything could still happen!

LAP 2 | OBSTACLE 2

Prompt: After the inversion is a long straight stretch ideal for letting loose with a burst of high speed. The racers would need to put on the brakes before the next hairpin curve, though; depending on how low to the ground a Pokémon flew, the curve might be semi-blind! Taking that curve at Extreme Speeds would be next to impossible! It would certainly test the five dragons' natural air braking, a skill not many low-difficulty courses tested.

Target Number: 0 (Speed)

Special: None

With the wind under her and her rider smiling as bright as the sun. Roxie was in a very good mood. They made it out of course number two and Ghost was still game to go. As he looked on he saw that there was still one more rider in front of him. Or was he dead last? He would start to laugh to himself. As he signals for Roxie to go up a bit more. He wanted to be in mid-air.
Not too high and not too low. Ghost would look on and start to look around to try and get a better view of things.

Ghost would then smile as he saw the next course. Could this be some sort of trick for them? As it was a straight line. Ghost watched a few races to know that this is not as easy as it looked. "Roxie listen up and keep up the speed but we must brace ourselves at any given moment. This course if it's about speed then we won.  But that is too simple. It's about how to control one speed." Right at this moment he started to think like a Ranger rather than a racer to determine his next action and that is when he would say.
"Ok, There I could see a bit further ahead. There is a shape turn up ahead. Now then on my mark, you need to airtel spin."

*Just as he said that Roxie would kick up her speed putting into effect to continue her speed. Ghost would look on and be ready to stand up. Just as the curve was coming up. Roxie would spin around going forward toward the turning point. As Ghost stood up. The duo would be in perfect sync as they did the undoable.

At last, a long straightaway where Josh and Yosei could let loose. "Whooooooo-hoooooooo!!" the Leader cried as he barely avoided a brush with the net meant to catch out-of-bounds racers and protect them from being injured in the event their Pokémon spiraled out of control. While Josh took an outside line, he maintained the increased speed the Salamence's DRAGON DANCE bestowed.

"Faster, Yosei! Faster!! Keep your DRAGON DANCE going!" The moment the first expired, Josh commanded a second from his flying mount. The proud dragon's entire frame glowed with purple dragon energy, Josh guiding him to the left side of the course before entering a tight corkscrew that threatened to disorient him from how much more rapidly his perception of the horizon spun. Rather than a corkscrew, this was a full-on barrel roll. Once they had completed the required maneuver, the Master of Faster pulled back sharply on Yosei's reins, ascending to the highest altitude permitted by the course's bounds. This would let him kill as much of his speed as possible in preparation for the curve to come.

DRAGON DANCE is used.

"Faster!" the Gym Leader shouted, and faster the Salamence flew, putting great strain on the dragon's wings. While their corkscrew was beautifully executed, it put a great deal of stress on the bodies of both Josh and his Salamence. Through the process of simultaneously corkscrewing and DRAGON DANCING, the dragon had strained a wing muscle, squinting through aches as the duo continued down the course. He had been pushed too hard. Josh would be forced to make corrections to keep his mount flying straight, with one wing providing more propulsion than the other in his weakened state.

Lyndon and Resheph were coasting almost out of sight of Jackie, Ghost, and Shawn, whose Garchomp, Salamence, and Hydregion brutally fought for second place. Kokusho threatened to pass them both with a burst of DOUBLE TEAM, but could not quite catch the challenger. There was much contact of wings as none of them yielded the slightest bit of airspace to one another! Someone had to give, though - that turn was coming up fast!

LAP 2 | OBSTACLE 3

Prompt: After the corkscrew came a sharp U-turn that was a mirror image of the one near the start of the course, with its quick lateral before the hairpin instead of after. Furthermore, there was a mandatory target ring in the center of the turn, necessitating added precision in its navigation. Racers needed to be prepared for the course to narrow after the turn, as well.

Target Number: 135 (Reaction)

Special: Pokémon that roll beneath this Obstacle's Target Number by 30 or more instead suffer a flat -100 TP penalty from a missed target ring.

"Crap this is getting harder and harder. I need to have at it more. If this doesn't go to plan. Then I am doomed, to say the least. I'm not in the back but I am not in the front either. If this keeps up I may be in trouble." As he said that out loud only for his dragon Pokemon to hear him. She would have fury in her eyes and then would start to flap her wings semi-harder.
Roxie was not going to let down her trainer if anything. He chose her at the start of the race over Roc Royal.

As she saw the next stage get set. She knew she had to up the stakes a bit. *As Ghost rosed up off of Roxie. To give her a better edge on this shrape turn. Just as she did that he would sit back down to even it out. Just as his weight hit her. He would notice that she barely made the turn. But it was alright. The weight of Ghost landing on her all of the sudden eases the turn by a mile. As Roxie was able to do a turn at speed but was able to catch herself. Because Ghost's weight slowed her down.
Just enough to catch herself.
Doing a zig-zag was a hard thing to do especially in a race such as this.

Now all was left was for Ghost to try to catch the lead. He did not want to overuse her dragon dance. As she could only do it so much.
