He nods, lax as ever, “Sure I do. Part of it’s always gonna be home.”[break][break]

In fact, he himself is more apt to take the more laidback route. Though he does like a little activity, if he can have a stretch of days to just laze… hands down that’s what he’s bound to do.[break][break]

Granted, his partner gets him up and out into the world more and more each day, so maybe that’ll change.[break][break]

He hums in thought. “Few months before the dome went down? That’s when I moved over, but y’know— can’t say I was anticipating being shut in.”

but he hadn't minded it much as selfish as that sounds. it was horrible for hoenn in general but for someone like matias, it hadn't affected him much. he worked the same, trained the same, and fought the same.[break][break]

“Yeah, I mean it was fine, just unexpected.” He shrugs again. If anything, it was probably a good thing for him because he was unable to just turn tail and go home the moment he felt that achey homesickness for the first time.[break][break]

And he’d been better for that. He’d met someone, he was actually starting to grow.[break][break]

A chatot drifts on the breeze. As Lam looks up at it, he whistles out a little tune that has it fluttering down to rest on his offered arm. Compelled to mimic the tune back to him.[break][break]

“Oh. Uh, I’m a painter. Er, well, technically an art gallery assistant, but it kind of blows. Bottom rung shit.” The kind of stuff that takes all of the passion out of art. Which is sort of why he’s banking on this whole trainer experiment to work out better.

he'll drill into the painter occupation in a bit. for now, he turns to the CAMOUFLAGED skrelp, pausing to think for a moment as to how best to handle it before it shoots its gunk at them.[break][break]

turns out he's thinking for nothing. the skrelp leaves on its own, swimming away.

“Yeah, nice enough.” He shrugs again, smile faltering slightly. “One of the many in Slateport.” Not even the nicest one out there.[break][break]

He’s distracted, then, by the familiar sight of cloud-like wings.[break][break]

But they don’t belong to his altaria. Another floats overhead, but a click of his tongue pulls his shinx’s attention and the little cat pulls it down from the sky with a bolt of THUNDER.

most of the time he does not mean it when he says things like that but with lam, he finds himself wanting to visit if only to placate his own curiosity.[break][break]

"are your paintings on display there too?"[break][break]

a drizzile pokes its head out of the water only to peer up at them over the side of the boat. it bobs up and down, though does nothing more than that.
