ROUTE 118 had always boasted an impressive view of the ocean, majestic mountains, and forests teeming with life. In the wintertime, the snow had only added to that beauty. Today it fell gently; just enough to coat the ground in a thin layer of white and sprinkle the pine trees.

Remiel Calcifet travels along a path deep in the forest, forgoing the view of the ocean for the caves and pools lurking within. His companion, a DRAGAPULT named WADCUTTER, glides through the trees soundlessly. It stops and swerves its head to and fro when it hears something, however. Remiel is quick to notice and stops as well.

the falling snow is not enough to deter theo away from spending a few hours by the water. there, on the edge of route 118, he sits atop a fallen log with a fishing rod in his hands. the line extends far out into the water, bobbing gently with the waves as he waits.[break][break]

fishing is all about patience. with years experience, he could wait all day and night should he be unemployed. unforutnately, he isn't, so he's hoping something tugs soon.[break][break]

he is joined by his fishing buddy, darumaka.

A rather territorial CLAWITZER fires its WATER GUN from the lake that Remiel and his Dragapult pass. The royal manages to take cover behind a rock, narrowly avoiding being struck. His Dragapult, on the other hand, is splashed and angrily hisses in return.

With a shuddering horned head, the spectral beast fires its DRAGON DARTS. Despite attempting to dive back into the water and retreat, however, the DREEPY that are fired plunge inside to meet their mark to explosive effect. The crustacean reemerges shortly after some air bubbles do; unconscious. Remiel then pulls out a Luxury Ball and casts it.

their first catch comes in the form of a barraskewda. he can tell even before he reels it in given how hard it's tugging at his line, fighting to swim away. but in the end, it's no match for a seasoned fisherman like theo.[break][break]

Stirred up by the recent fight, a BUIZEL emerges from the lake with a WAVE CRASH. Remiel has to give it some degree of respect for this brave, and utterly stupid, act. To be quite honest, he wasn't sure if it was simply rambunctious or territorial. Nevertheless, his Dragapult emerges from the wave with a shriek and shoots straight for it.

The DRAGON DARTS blast out from its horn with great speed afterward. They meet their mark in the blink of an eye, blasting it up into the air before it comes crashing down on the shore. Afterward, Remiel pulls out an empty Luxury Ball from his pack and catches it.

it does not take too long until their second catch of the day comes. he feels the familiar tug at his line, and after a few moments of fighting, he reels in a lanturn that floats in front of him.[break][break]

A BRIONNE has waddled up from the beach to look for berries here? Big mistake. Now it appears lost and confused. Unfortunately, Remiel's Dragapult gives its hair a curious nibble, perhaps confusing it for cotton candy. Then it takes offense to the attempted DOUBLE-SLAP.

The attack phases through its body harmlessly, of course. Nevertheless, the dragon screeches and INFESTS the poor Brionne with a hundred miniature DREEPY. It succumbs before long, after which Remiel produces an empty ball and catches it.

flashes of yellow swiftly pull his attention away from the peaceful body of water before him. he understands the risk of a THUNDER SHOCK and how it can disrupt the wildlife in the area, specifically the fishies, so he clicks his tongue and sends his darumaka to deal with the elekid.[break][break]

empowered by BELLY DRUM, darumaka's SUPERPOWER is enough to slam elekid into unconsciousness where a pokeball snaps it right up.[break][break]

A SKRELP CAMOUFLAGES itself perfectly within the pond nearby. When Remiel and his Dragapult pass by it, it waits for them to turn their backs to it before spitting out a WATER GUN. It strikes the latter and inspires a sharp hiss in return.

Before it can dive away and escape, however, it is blasted out of the water with DRAGON DARTS at an intense speed. Remiel waits a good bit before it comes falling down from the sky. It hits the rocky shore unconscious, after which he pulls out a Luxury Ball and captures it.

their next encounter does not come from the water but from above. somehow, a pichu had managed to fling itself across the space between them and a nearby tree. it lands perfectly on theo's head, catching him off guard.[break][break]
