Hoenn's FIERY PATH was infamous for being a deadly detour on the way to MT. CHIMNEY. With reports of MEGALOPOLANS hiding out here, however, and using the wild Pokémon as deterrents, Remiel Calcifet simply had to investigate. He supposed he might come across more PALDEAN Pokémon, too.

Dressed in light clothing to beat the heat, and hiking gear to traverse the rocky terrain, the ambassador ventures through a red rock canyon with a GALARIAN SLOWBRO in tow. EGLON appears perfectly content despite the temperature. Every so often, he'll stop to sniff at a shrub he finds or peek through a crevice. Eventually, he finds something.

having been born and raised in cinnabar has made him acclimated to the heat. it's why he has little issues traversing fiery path, aided by the chill of winter brought forth by KYUREM.[break][break]

it makes for a good running path as well.[break][break]

with his stoutland bounding behind him, they follow the carved-out trail of fiery path, soon veering off it into more difficult terrains.

Remiel and his Galarian Slowbro find a path that leads to a dead-end within the canyon. Rather than Megalopolans, however, the pair end up coming face-to-face with a fearsome DRAPION. Feeling threatened by this unexpected visit, the beast naturally attacks with a POISON FANG.

Eglon is surprisingly swift in raising his cannon and firing a SHELL-SIDE ARM, however. The blast is so powerful that it knocks the Drapion unconscious against the canyon wall. Remiel then follows up by pulling an empty Luxury Ball out from his pack and casting it.

after such a hefty bark, the stoutland stops running and starts sniffing along the ground as though searching for something. what exactly, theo's not sure, so he follows out of curiosity than anything.[break][break]

the stoutland leads them to a LUCKY CHANTING delphox that looks like it's in the middle of a prayer. he gives it its privacy and moves on.

Though surprised by the sudden aggression, the royal is impressed to see that the attack has caused this GLIMMORA to faint almost instantly. It crashes onto the cavern floor in a heap, having put up no struggle at all. Pulling out a Luxury Ball from his pack, the ambassador captures it.

MAGBY, and their later evolutions, aren't too distantly related from dragons themselves. As cousins of TURTONATOR, Remiel has had experience with them before. He might have offered the one that blocked their path a poffin if it hadn't conjured up a FLAME WHEEL and cast it at them with a mischievous giggle all the while.

Eglon, however, tanks the hit with little damage. When the fire dissipates, the Galarian Slowbro raises its SHELL-SIDE ARM and blasts away. Remiel produces an empty Luxury Ball from his pack afterward and catches the little tyke.

WHITE SMOKE wafts into the area, engulfing them in its thickness as it continues to spread. usually, such a thing would dissipate after a few moments, but as it still lingers even after a while, he suspects it to be from a pokemon.[break][break]

sure enough, his stoutland's ODOR SLEUTH is quick to pinpoint the torkoal. a pokeball cuts through the WHITE SMOKE, catching it off guard before it can release its SMOG.[break][break]

the WHITE SMOKE fades, clearing the area.

A SEVIPER slithers out from a crevice in the canyon. It appears famished and worn out, with a certain wild look in its eye. When it catches sight of the Galarian Slowbro, it attacks with a BELCH... though the attack appears to fail.

Eglon glares at it, lifting his hand and raising it from the ground with his PSYCHIC abilities. He then casts it against the canyon wall before it falls to the ground in a heap; unconscious. Remiel pulls out an empty Luxury Ball afterward, tossing it down for a swift capture.

when the WHITE SMOKE fades, a monferno stands at the ready with its palm extended out as though offering a challenge. no, inviting one.[break][break]

"really?"[break][break]

it has yet to move.[break][break]

"okay."[break][break]

after a nod, his stoutland bumbles forward, accepting the challenge as it LEERS down the monferno. it ends up being a close fight with the monferno nearly edging a win but it's stoutland's LAST RESORT that makes the difference.[break][break]

the monferno sinks to the ground.
