Ettie; League [USER PROFILE] | [APPLICATION] | [PC]
The BasicsWIPAKA: N/A Gender: Female (She/Them) Age: Guesstimated to be 15 (April 5th) Faceclaim: Isla from Plastic Memories Occupation: Wandering Wildchild Rank: Cadet Who is she?WIPA strange young girl, no one really knows where Ettie is truly from. Her earliest memories were not of growing up amongst other humans, but instead being in the care of a pack of canid pokemon - lycanrocs primarily - who live deep in the wilds of Route 119. Having been isolated from humans for most of her childhood, she sometimes feels more pokemon than human - having little understanding of society, civilization, and education. In fact, it is thanks to meeting another human - a ranger by the name of Julia Davis - that she ever considered going out into the wide open world like she has, at all! Despite her wild upbringing, Ettie often comes off more like a stray puppy than a wild wolf - she is excitable, friendly, and trusting to a fault. Being an utter social butterfly, Ettie is at her happiest when around other people - be they humans or pokemon - and she is unafraid to approach anyone who catches her eye (much to the chagrin of her protective adoptive sister, a lycanroc named Anne.) It's easy to notice that she isn't like other children her age, however; she is unafraid to make canid vocalizations such as howling, barking, or growling, and will often speak in broken English - stringing together short simple phrases, and referring to herself in the third person. As a result of her quirks, she may sometimes come across as being dumb or incapable - and indeed, she struggles with civilized things that the average citizen would know by nature, such as reading or writing. But she isn't stupid - something that can quickly become apparent, if one spends more than a couple of days in the wilderness with her. She has a clever and adaptable mind, being surprisingly self-sufficient - and in a way she had to be, to have been able to survive in the wild for as long as she has, even with the aid of her pack-mates. But, for all of her wildness, she is curious about society - about the civilized world - as well as Hoenn as a whole. Though she is too wild and free spirited to ever linger in one place long enough to settle down and find a home for herself amongst other humans, she finds humanity fascinating. She wants to better understand civilized life, and perhaps even learn from them - and she also wants to explore and see what the world beyond the rainforest she once called home has to offer. And all the while, she will build a large pack of her own, that any wolf would find pride in... How do you meet her?WIPSeeking Ettie out can be a little tricky, given her wanderlust - she rarely ever lingers in one place for very long, her pack leading a nomadic life. If her curiosity desires to go in a given direction, she will follow it - her only worries being ensuring that her pack's needs are met. Be it in the wilderness, in a cave, in a town, or in abandoned ruins - it doesn't matter what the place is, as long as it piques her interest or is otherwise along the way to whatever destination she desires. However, she is prone to looping back around to visit those she considers close - which often brings her back to places like Mauville or Fortree. In addition to this, it isn't hard to miss it when her pack is in the area - one of the sure signs being that her pack will often howl in the evenings to affirm their mutual bonds, before retiring for sleep. And with a keen enough eye, one can sometimes find the trails left behind by her pack's passing through an area - and use that to track one's way to her. And if you manage to find her, it's safe to say that it's easy to make friends with her. She has an inherently friendly and social nature, and it isn't too hard to bond with and get to know her if you are able to keep up with her energetic nature, and treat her pack as a whole kindly. In fact, the biggest hurdle (if you can even call it that) often come from her more protective or rambunctious pack-mates - particularly Anne, who distrusts most humans. But if you prove yourself to be a threat, they are sure to try and chase you away before you can even touch a hair on her head. Who does she know?WIP - Julia Davis - Friend! - Being the ranger who had initially discovered Ettie when she was still with her original pack, Julia is perhaps the one human that Ettie has known the longest. Julia taught her a number of things, and also told her of the world beyond 119 - inspiring Ettie to set off on her own to explore Hoenn, and helping form a strong bond between them. Ettie often returns to Fortree to visit and spend time with her, and enjoys going on the occasional ranger job with her as well. Even with Anne's distrust towards humans, Julia is one of the few people that she is comfortable letting look after Ettie, if she can't be present for any particular reason. - Josh Devlin - Friend - Another ranger that Ettie met on 120, she warmed up to Josh pretty quick - especially when she found out that Julia was a mutual friend of theirs. She admires the sheer size of Josh's 'pack', as well as how fast some of his pokemon can go - a bit of his enthusiasm for racing having rubbed off on her. Though, she sometimes feels as though there's a slight disconnect between them - that there are times where they have a hard time getting one another. Nonetheless, she looks forward to the day that she'll be able to race alongside him, on a pokemon of her own! Anne may not trust him wholeheartedly yet, but she's warming up to him. - Toki Akiyama - Friend - Though Toki was shy, that didn't stop Ettie from trying to befriend yet another ranger! Having met on 120, Ettie enjoyed getting to play with his pokemon and letting her pack play with them! She greatly appreciates the kindness that he holds for other pokemon, and how well he's able to direct and look after his own; as a result, she thinks of him as a great pack-leader (and Ranger) in the making! Much like with Julia, she visits him on the regular whenever she passes through Fortree. - Johanna Joy - Friend - Ettie first met Johanna during an expedition into the Border - and ever since, Ettie has warmed up to the rocket-turned-gym-leader (though Ettie is presently unaware of Johanna's origins.) Ettie likes how colorfully Johanna tends to present herself, she (and the pack) likes her sandwiches - and overall Johanna's just plain fun to be around! Ettie is interested in giving Johanna's gym a try sometime - and is likely to visit Joyland more than once in the process. - Callan Young - Friend - Ettie met Callan during an expedition into the Border - and overall, she looks to him as a bit of a leader figure. She finds it easy to follow his directions without feeling pushed around - regarding him as pretty smart, and forward-facing for lack of a better term. She likes listening to him play on his guitar, as well - finding the sounds relaxing. Though, she sometimes feels like she ought to get to know him a little better - lacking any strong opinions otherwise. - URIAH BLACK - Maybe-Friend? - Ettie met Uriah whilst her pack was play-fighting and practicing against one another. Ettie doesn't know too much about him - and would need some more time to really bond - but she thinks he's pretty nice, and enjoyed getting to meet his pokemon, too! - Nikita Sokolov - Maybe-Friend? - Ettie met Nikita while he was out tracking down a lost teenager. She thinks he's sometimes a bit hard to totally get - but he seems pretty smart all the same, and seems to sometimes be a little concerned about her. So, she thinks he's pretty alright! She'd need more time though, before she can have any particular big opinions over him, though. - Shalin Nariya - Acquaintance - Ettie met Shalin amidst an incident in Petalburg Woods. However, though she finds Shalin's pokemon curious, Ettie admittedly hasn't interacted with Shalin herself enough to have any particular opinions, besides regarding her as a potential friend. What's planned for her?WIP- Legendaries and More -(I don't write my characters with the expectation of stuff like Avatarship being a for-sure, but a moon can dream ;w;/ I put this down for my characters as an excuse to ramble my thoughts + maybe-plans)WIP
El Sunderland; League [USER PROFILE] | [APPLICATION] | [PC]
The BasicsWIPAKA: Elliot Gender: What Even Is Gender (They/Them) Age: 18 (April 12th) Faceclaim: Chakuro from Children of the Whales Occupation: Wandering Ranger Trainee Rank: Cadet Who are they?WIPEl is a young adult who was born and raised in Lavaridge, alongside their older brother (@)isaac. Their father was a former minor league gym leader - who wants them to carry on the mantle - and their mother is a nurse at the local pokecenter. However, when El was relatively young, Isaac had disappeared from their life - and it is only recently that they've found a lead as to where in Hoenn he could be. With this knowledge, they've ended up leaving home as well - setting off on their own in search of their dear brother. Friendly and warm, though they may not always approach others first, El is plenty approachable themself - happy to have conversations and make friends with those around them. They are kind and honest, sometimes to a fault - having a dislike (and difficulty) in lying to others, and also often being incapable of saying 'no' if someone approaches them for help. There is not a single mean bone in their body, either; no one can really ever recall the last time El has ever gotten angry - if ever. One of the first things that one may notice about them though, besides them being all smiles, is the presence of their cane. A childhood injury has since left their right leg unable to fully support them - often causing pain, and even threatening to give out under them, if they try. Thus, using an attached brace to keep the cane close at hand, they hold it on their left side - to help keep some of their weight off their bad leg. But, this doesn't stop them from chasing after what makes them happy - and their pokemon are sure to help, in the places where a cane isn't enough. They're a relatively active person despite their disability - moving from place to place, wherever their heart takes them. They don't have any interest in pokemon battles - but they are curious about non-traditional gym challenges, contests, and the like. On top of this, they are a ranger-in-training - having been inspired by other rangers with similar disabilities, and desiring an opportunity to do some good in the world. Though they may have initially left Lavaridge in search of their brother - they may as well enjoy the adventure that comes along with the journey, right? How do you meet them?WIPBeing a ranger-in-training, El is most likely to be known by other fellow rangers - particularly in Fortree. Be it due to teaching them the ropes, having brought them along to shadow, or just through gossip on the grapevine - they are a dedicated student, eager to make a good impression. Though they are pacifist leaning, they are known to be quite knowledgeable about local pokemon - reading and studying up on them regularly - and they have a kind heart towards even the most troublesome or ornery pokemon. Otherwise, Fortree and Mauville - as well as the surrounding routes - are the places they tend to linger around the most. However, given their hunger for adventure, they are prone to wandering across Hoenn wherever their heart leads them on an occasion. (Though, Lavaridge is the one place you're not likely to ever see them.) When not on-duty as a ranger (even if in-training) though, they tend to blend in with the crowd; being just another person, even with all of their bright smiles and warmth. But if run into or spoken to by chance, they prove to be a friendly and earnest sweetheart. But, another possible place to meet them is online. They are a bit of a nerd, even if it isn't always outwardly obvious - and during downtime, they'll sometimes set up in a local library or pokecenter with their laptop to play games, particularly online games such as MMOs, or lurk in communities centered around their favorite shows or books. They tend to favor fantasy or sci-fi genres the most - enjoying media that just allows them to be someplace else, as someone else, without worrying about more real-life matters. Who do they know?WIP - Isaac Merlo - Brother - Isaac is El's older brother - and even when the both of them were little, El has always looked up to him. With the pressures of their father's expectations on their shoulders, El had always admired the freedom that Isaac seemed to have by comparison - and as children, the two would often sneak away from home together to get into shenanigans. However, after Isaac disappeared one day, El always felt as though there was something missing in their life ever since. Following a lead that revealed that Isaac is still in Hoenn, they dearly wish to be able to see him again. Perhaps then the four of them - Isaac, their parents, and El themself - can be a family again... - Julia Davis - Role Model - Despite her prosthetic, Julia is a more than capable Ranger - and it's for this reason that El admires her a lot, given their own bad leg. Seeing her at work inspired them to pursue becoming a ranger as well, and even if El might not necessarily know a lot about her, they hope to be able to impress her in turn by rising in the ranks. That, or at least become friends with her - they feel like (or at least hope that) the both of them could relate to one another a bunch. What's planned for them?WIP- Legendaries and More -(I don't write my characters with the expectation of stuff like Avatarship being a for-sure, but a moon can dream ;w;/ I put this down for my characters as an excuse to ramble my thoughts + maybe-plans)WIP
Makoto Kurumi; Rocket [USER PROFILE] | [APPLICATION] | [PC]
The BasicsBe-bop, to the girls who seem to disappear and hate the night Two-beat, to the boys who hate lies and are about to cryAKA: N/A Gender: Nonbinary (They/Them) Age: 21 (May 14th) Faceclaim: Tieria Erde from Gundam 00 Occupation: Phantom Thief Rank: Grunt Who are they?Dress-up, in the mirror I am Cinderella; Too late to (be) rebornMakoto is a young adult who hails from Ecruteak City, in Johto - though after running away from home at a young age, they gradually made their way to Hoenn. Shortly after having entered Hoenn, they'd end up falling in with Rocket - joining them to get the money for a roof over their head, and for a place of belonging. However, despite this, they ultimately struggle in being able to trust their fellow Rocket members - due to a mix of their natural suspicion for strangers developed on the streets, as well as Rocket being essentially a crime syndicate. Overall, most people will see a courteous and friendly - but ultimately closed off - demeanor from them. They are genuinely kindhearted, yet feel unable to safely show weakness around others - and they will lie to themself that they are able to accept (and be a part of) the bad in Rocket in the name of survival. But anyone who manages to break through that outer shell of theirs will see them for who they really are - someone craving a sense of family, of stability, and safety that they have sorely lacked all these years. When acting as a civilian, Makoto leads a rather simple seeming life - working as an assistant at a book-binding and print shop (that is a cover for a counterfeiting and forgery business) called Circinus & Sagitta in Sootopolis, run by (@)fern. They tend to wander on an occasion - be it in search of new pokemon, or to see the sights that Hoenn has to offer - and typically keep to themself, unless first approached. But even for all their closed-off-ness, they will welcome someone else initiating a conversation with them. When acting as a member of Rocket, Makoto more often than not favors jobs that center around stealth, infiltration, and theft. They are no stranger to breaking into places to swipe anything that isn't nailed down and leaving before anyone knows they were even there in the first place - with nary a trace of their passing. Specializing in raising Zorua and Zoroark, Makoto is skilled at bringing out the most in their illusions - which are often used during thefts to augment their own disguises or otherwise obscure themself. How do you meet them?If you wanted me to speak, if you wanted me to think, if you wanted me to carry on our dreamsBeing a Rocket member, it's likely that other Rocket members may know them simply from talk of being the new grunt on the block - or from having been on a job with them before. They may not be the most social - and sometimes comes off as overly formal or distant - but they are otherwise respectful and diligent. Perhaps not one who has the ambition for the higher ranks, but nonetheless a useful and committed member all the same. Otherwise as a civilian, they are more likely known either to those who go to Circinus & Sagitta on the regular, those who they walk into on the streets of Sootopolis. Less commonly, they also may be known to those they meet whilst wandering across Hoenn - be it on the routes, or in one of the different cities and towns. If they are not approached first, then their pokemon will more often than not do the approaching for them - particularly Kama, a friendly little sneasel of theirs. Overall though, they don't appear to be anyone special - just another face out of the many in Hoenn. But as a thief, it's possible for anyone who isn't part of Rocket to have been a mark for one of their thefts - ranging from picked pockets, to infiltrated homes or businesses, even if one likely won't recognize Makoto as the culprit. Alternatively, it's possible for someone to have spotted a disguised Makoto in the act - and to have perhaps even tried to chase them down. With their adaptable and quick wits though, they can prove to be quite the slippery fox to try and catch... Who do they know?Hopefully, without saying goodbye - One day, we'll meet again somewhere.(wip) - Mimika - Fern - Amor - Cathrine - Nanette - Lux What's planned for them?Alone in a lonely world, praying and hoping Imagining a dream, you look to the future- Friendship and Found Family -Makoto, despite their generally friendly-but-distant reception towards others - especially fellow Rocket members - craves a sense of belonging and acceptance. This feeling is often at odds with their difficulty in trusting others after growing up on the street, as well as them feeling as though they have to avoid appearing 'soft' when in view of other Rocket members. However, if someone does manage to work their way past that exterior, it's likely they'd have a reliable and loyal friend in Makoto. I would like for characters who can manage to get Makoto to open up to them - for better, or for worse. I am open to this leading to an unhealthy relationship (with proper OOC discussion) - in someone toying with Makoto's feelings - as much as I am to a genuine and caring found family. Though note that they have a H. Zorua and Zoroark who are often out with them - and are both quite protective of them... - Cat and Mouse -Makoto is a thief - and to have made it on their own for so long in the past, they had to become a good thief, and fast. Donning disguises and using illusions to their advantage, as they steal any valuables not nailed down, before departing with nary a clue left behind... It's become a bit of a habit for them, and after having joined Rocket It's almost like a career now, even if other options and avenues have opened up. As a result, be it either for a sense of financial security or for serving Rocket, they steal from others semi regularly. I would like for people who could either act as partners in crime for Makoto (perhaps even tying into Friendships and Found Family,) or as potential rivals who are attempting to catch them in the act and stop them. I am not interested in them being arrested - as I don't want their civillian life to have to deal w an upheaval like that presently - but I'd enjoy the drama of both individuals trying to outsmart and outplay one another. - Rocket and Tools -With Rocket being a major - if not sole - source of livable income and a roof over their head, Makoto is keen on not being forced to return to the streets; and to this end, they desire to become more useful. Be it honing their skills, expanding the range of options they have in pokemon, or just making sure they perform at their best on any job they receive... Makoto may not have the aspirations to rise high in the ranks, but they will become reliable to Rocket - one way or another. I'd like for characters who could aid in this - be it as training partners, as a mentor to them, or even simply an encouraging coworker. If your character is someone who could push the boundaries of Makoto's morals - encouraging/pushing them to take on acts that they otherwise would hesitate at - all the better! They respond well to positive reinforcement, and are generally open to hearing out suggestions from fellow Rocket members, especially their superiors. I'd also like to work on M.A.G.M.A Division things with them - and am open to suggestions for threads to get more merits! - Legendaries and More -(I don't write my characters with the expectation of stuff like Avatarship being a for-sure, but a moon can dream ;w;/ I put this down for my characters as an excuse to ramble my thoughts + maybe-plans)Makoto is not much more in-the-know about legendary pokemon than the average citizen, being a relatively new Rocket grunt - and they also do not have any particular interest or reason to wish to seek one out. However, of the legendaries that are available/unaccounted for, I feel like I'd go for primarily Lunala, with Galarian Moltres/Articuno, Meloetta, or Cresselia being a few other potential options if the moonbat isn't in the cards. (Though greatly unlikely given circumstances, Enamorus or Suicune could be cool too <:3) As far as non-exclusive 'mons go though, it is likely that I'll have Makoto get a few UBs from the Wilds - Pheromosa, Nihilego, and Nagandel being the ones I think would be the most fitting, with Marshadow, Kartana, and Celesteela being maybes. There's also Magearna - but they're already working on that one. I'm also curious about potentially getting them a Spectrier, and maybe a Genesect, Type: Null, or Zeraora(?). Dunno. Makoto is flexible and it make my brain hurty, esp when I wanna avoid too much overlap w these 'mons between characters. XD
