Even though you approach slowly, the crumpled figure - who reveals himself to be a young boy - is startled. He looks up with wide, terrified eyes — which only soften a little bit once realizing that it's you.

Reassurance feels futile. He knows the way that Rocket gets into your head, makes you believe the worst of yourself.[break][break]

As much as you'd like to comfort him, your upbringing within Rocket has taught you the importance of necessity and efficiency over emotion. You urge Jayden to accompany you to the infirmary, and since he's in no state to argue, he complies.

Hugging felt too invasive. For as much as touch was his love language, Gavin was rare to initiate such close contact with others.[break][break]

You can sense something is wrong. He's not much of a talker, but you can tell from his body language that there is something viscerally wrong with him, even more than the wounds that layer his body.
